he's the truth, like seriously
finally the site is giving him some props
6-6 or 6-7 at the 2? with handles the jumper and strength? c'mon now
do you think he'll be in the lottery though? i'm not quite sure
i will say this...he's better than derozan to me
I think he's better as well, esp at the same stage. He reminds me of Glen Rice, I think he'll be a good NBA player too. He's one of the more NBA ready freshmen this season.
Maybe his game is a bit more polished than DeRozan's right now, but I doubt his ceiling is higher.
you're probably right on that one
derozan has those bunniessss
has potenial but they have played one game against who exactly?..i gotta wait till he plays another good player at his position and/or team but look good so far against inferior comp
Yea I am going to agree with Quincey, lemme see him against a more elite college defender before we start giving him so much praise. He was a great player in high school lets see if when he goes against better defenders and teams if he can keep consistency.
for me top10 pick (lottery locked) with chances to be top 5 talent in this draft..I like Warren i had my top4(Wall,Favors,Sidney,Henry) as a favourites but Willie is near but i still worrying isn't Henry better nba prospect, especially when they are playing same position with Xavier 2-3inch 20-30pounds bigger
Martel Webster clone. Big body. Good shot. Not extremely athletic.
random question, i always thought his name was said like the college (Zavier), but I've heard it said like it's spanish (Havier)... whats the right way?
from what i've heard, he's way more polished than derozan, but not quite the athlete... which could be a problem when he gets to the next level.
spelled Xavier pronouched (Zav-I-yay)
He isn't as athletic as DeRozen, but DeRozen is a freak. Xavier isn't un-athletic, he is 6'6'' very strong and fluid, fast and runs the floor well without being super quick. In the Hofstra game he had a pretty impressive put back dunk which showed he can get up, just his vert is probably more like 32-35 instead of 40+ like DeRozen. Went 5-8 from 3 too, he has a much better outside shot than DeRozen. I'd say is athelticism is similar to Carmelo Anthony, and by that I mean, he is very effective without being a freak athlete, but he's still pretty good athlete, and he is all of 6'6'' 230.
henry actually used to be a much better athlete( and hes still pretty athletic) before he put on all that muscle..i think hes athletic enough though to be a very good nba 2guard
I think Melo is a vastly underrated athlete... he's a BEAST. His combination of strength and quickness (burst) is ridiculous. I'm glad it's finally translating into success at the defensive end as well.
henry is a good player but doesnt handle the ball well. he reminds me of brandon rush with a little more game and a lot higher bball IQ. needs to work on his handle before thinking about being a productive wing in the league
wow alot higher basketball iq then rush?...rush has a very very high basketball iq(as far as when he was in college) theres no way i see having a better basketball iq right now..
i know rush personally he's from kc like me and his bball iq is not very high
what does knowing him have to do with basketball iq?..he showed while playing at kansas that he has a high basketball iq...commentators and scouts when he got drafted mentioned that plenty of times
you cant judge someones basketball iq just from knowing them..you can judge there regular iq by it but you judge basketball iq by how they playe..how they figure things out and knowing where to be in certain situations..and you dont become a very good defender without having a pretty good basketball iq..and theres no way henry can have a wayyyyy higher basketball iq after one game against who ever they played
he has a higher iq because he uses all his skills but brandon is a great athlete but rarely uses that and his midrange skills. even bill self said hes brandon rush with higher iq and uses his skills alot better.
im not saying henry is some great player tho
huh..did you watch bradon in college? do you remeber when he got hurt and had to play without using his athleticism?...and its been one game against horrible competition its alot easier to use other skills against bad teams (hofstra)..and most of hi points came off of threes and jump shots ..and a lil from fast break..there werent a bunch of drives and dribble drive moves, step backs , etc..so where are u getting he uses all his skills?
Brandon Rush would've been good if he still had his athleticism. He's a poor ball-handler (all the Rush's are) too, so that limited him too. But he was mostly a garbage basket and corner-3 point shooter after his knee surgery. But I think they both have about the same bball IQ to be honest...
lol..after one game against hofstra he has the same basketball IQ...classic..i guess ill say he has the same jumper as ray allen too
What does playing against Hofstra have to do with basketball IQ? Nothing sir. It doesn't matter if you play college basketball or not, if you have a high bball IQ you have a high bball IQ, if you don't then you don't. It's not a skill that separates you from one level of basketball to another.
case and point of why i said i wait untill a freshman plays against better comp...was so dominate now was he..watched the whole game his iQ didnt look great either..another point...how many frehman have the same or better basketball IQ then a all american jr?..hmmmmm
better comp overseas, that's where the IQ players r at. ask Brandon Jennings
I thought B. Rush had a good IQ, especially defensively, he did a better job on Kevin Durant than anyone in the country his sophomor year. In college he was often too unselfish though, he had such a good stroke and mid-range game, and Kansas didn't really have a true #1 option at the time he was there (Chalmers was their clutch guy) He actually regained a surprising amount of his athleticism after his surgery, I saw him post surgery with almost an elbow above the rim. I get the comparisons of Rush to Henry, but I think they are very different, Henry has a good outside shot, but from what i've seen lacks the great mid-range game of Rush, I think Rush is a superior defender, but Henry has that instict to be a go to guy and is a true #1 option. Rush, college, would rarely stand out offensively but at the same time, not play bad on offense therefore would pretty much get you 11-14 points EVERY game, every once in a while he would break for 20, but I think Xavier has many 20 point games in him this season, and the way Collins is playing a more self-less style of ball this season it wouldn't suprise me if Xavier averaged about 17-18 ppg.
yes i see it too, just because of bad shooting he had 11points and we know he REALLY can shoot, i see 15ppg easily and next to Aldrich and Collins in a final four team is extremely good for freshmen, that's why i said a couple post before that top10 in the draft is not the limit
yeah he is a good shooting but his bad shooting was attributed to better competition and better defense compared to the low competition and bad defense in the first game..this is why i say i have to wait to see these hyped players play against good competition..too many times over zealous fans are quick to praise a freshman for haveing a good game against a bad team but quick to make an excuse when the player doesnt play real good against a better team
