Brandon Jennings does not play like Iverson..He plays Like Kenny Anderson
yes, he reminds me a lot of andersen out there. But Jennings might already be a better scorer then even a prime kenny. Kenny was also never a 3pt threat either. But the way they play and look is very familiar. Jennings is a combination of iverson and andersen.
But the reason alot of folks make that comparison is because of the left hand.. Now the truth to the matter is A.I. Look at A.I. his rookie year and tell me you don't see similarities in their games... The 2 differences are A.I. dunked alot more (its only 7 games tho) and Brandon has better court vision...
I think Iverson and Jennings are quite different. Iverson forced things his rookie year, his shooting percentages were considerably worse and his turnover numbers were higher. They both score a lot as point guards, but I think Iverson was a better defender too. Iverson was pretty effective as a rookie and a good player immediately, but he played out of control a lot at times and relied on his speed and athleticism to make up for it, one thing I've noticed about Jennings is that he plays a more controlled style of basketball than Iverson did as a rookie, not relying on his athleticism.
I know but Iverson shot .412 from the feild his rookie season, they won't fall that far, I watched Iverson a lot his rookie season, highlights don't tell the whole story. He is a phenominal offensive talent, but posting a couple highlights doesn't make me change my mind. Iverson relied a lot on his speed and athleticism his rookie year, forced shots, and averaged almost 5 TO's per game. Jennings doesn't do that as much, he is more in control than Iverson was. Iverson is the easy comparison becuase both are fast young 20+ ppg scorers who made immediate impacts, but a 4 minute youtube highlight doesn't prove anything.
Like someone else said the similarities stop at being lefties and having a serious handle [and I guess being black, haha]. Jennings has a little Damon Stoudamire in him, a little Iverson and a little Kenny Anderson. The most impressive thing to me about him so far is how under control he's playing. He's easily one of the most athletic pg's in the league but he's dominating with skills and basketball knowledge. We're talking about a guy who can get to the rim at will and has one of the best handles around, but he's coming down, reading the screen, curling off and drilling jumper after jumper. The season's still way young, but he's one of the most impressive rookies I've seen in a long time. Also, like someone else pointed out I'm really surprised he hasn't dunked the ball yet. It's like he already understands the concept of saving his legs too. This kid is an animal.
whats funny is thats who he was being compared to by scouts and college coaches when he was a soph in highschool..he used to do alot more passing then scoring but then again he had a hell of a highschool team and his aau team had kevin love,malik story,taylor king,danell hacket, renardo sydney..one of the best teams in aau history
Exactly...it's very hard to get an exact comparison. He reminds me of Iverson, with more passing skills, which would make him different than Iverson since that was one of his weaker points. He's small and quick like Stoudamire and Anderson...but he was a better shooter than Andreson and a better passer than Stoudamire. So he's a hybrid as Lemons said...there is no one player he's exactly like
As I mentioned, he kind of reminds me of a few people. The way he pulls up off the bounce and reads screens reminds me of Damon Stoudamire. His speed/quickness and the way he uses angles around the bucket reminds of AI [although he's not quite as aggressive], and his handle and vision remind me of Special K. He plays better man-to-man D then any of 'em though. He gets chest to chest with people like Derek Harper used to, though he's obviously not the defender Harper was. Someone else mentioned Van Exel, and I can somewhat see that from the deep ball perspective, but only there and only if you were watching Van Exel highlights in fast forward, haha.

jennings definitely has that AI streak in his game....he's fancy, sweet handles, and with a jumpshot
