UNC legit title contendor
After watching their game last night, I was pleasantly suprised with how they still are in top form...This teams talent is in its front court and its overall depth...Deon Thompson is stepping up and I expect him to put up Hansborough like numbers this year, thats not a stretch look at how he played when Hansborough was out last year, 16 and 9...Also Ed Davis is going to live up to his hype at the college level at least where he is longer and more athletic than most other players...Along with Zeller who may have the most NBA potential out of any of them and their outstanding Freshman Henson who is going to be a huge mismatch problem...Ginyard will add great defense and experience and an improved 3 point shot.
obviously this team will only get a championship if they can get steady PG play, but im guessing that Strickland and Drew team up for an adequate PG and let the frontcourt carry them to another Final Four
I only like Henson kind of, there are still too many better teams though. There's a reason why Davis dropped in the mock draft, though he had a fairly ok game.
They looked okay against a team they should have blown out pretty bad. Everybody has a chance but a couple teams just have too much talent(kansas and kentucky)
I see them as a Sweet 16 team. Maybe even a team that goes 2 and out. They have questionable guard play, and without decent guards it's hard to make much noise in the tourny. I think 2010-2011 will be their season to make noise.
Idk i dont see Davis staying and a good year will mean Hensons gone
I think Kansas, Nova, and Michigan State are better than them and Kentucky and Texas are as talented so I definetly think they can make a Final Four run
i think unc is better than michigan state. who does mich st have new from last year? they lost the big guy who shoots 3s i know maybe more. unc has the #1 recruiting class and 2 returning killers from last years national championship game: ed davis and thompson. larry drew will step up too. this team is like the 07 team not the 06 team. i say final four and we'll see what happens there.
We can say all we want about where they're heading but the thing about college hoops is that it's so unpredictable that you can't really judge anybody who can make it to the Final Four 100%... The upsets are what makes the NCAA look so good... UNC can be in the tournament but so far it's hard to say where they'll land... They can be knocked out by a surprising team OR they can make it to the Final Four... No one really knows for sure..
are u serious clippers? mich st only lost one player..unc lost 4 very important players including 2 all americans..they also return 5 of there top 6 players that got them to the title game..they got recruits but none of those recruits are game changers..not one of the new guys even had a effect on the game...ya'll going over board wit a unc team that didnt look all the impressive against a team that wouldnt win one game in the acc. on top of that they had 25 turnovers against that team...2 returning killers?.how about michigan returning 5 killers
iand yeah its only one game but henson didnt show hes gonna be a huge match up problem in the one game...hes actualy gonna struggle to get alot of time considering he didnt play much in a blow out win against a bad team..man to some of yall a player doesnt have to prove something before giving them praise
What happens if Larry Drew II gets into foul trouble? Strickland is a shooting guard, not a point guard. Kyrie Irving the Duke recruit ran the point at St. Patrick last year. They had 20+ turnovers during the game as well. Yes their post play will be dominant, but their extreme lack of depth in the back court will hurt them in the long run. I say next year when they add Kendall Marshall (PG from VA) and Reggie Bullock (SG from NC) they will have a much more well rounded team.
Q hodges: the score and stats have nothing to do with what actually happened in the fiu game. unc blew them out, but put in their 3rd stringers to finish the game and fiu scored a bunch of garbage points. Okay, wow 25 turnovers. it was the first game of the season for a team with a drastically different roster and a much less experienced team. that will happen those situations. however, today they destroyed a D1 team by 53. henson had 4 pts, 3 rbs, 3 blocks, and 3 assists in 12 min. thats pretty good. once unc gets to acc play he will be ready. btw, u said msu has 5 returning killers. i said killer because unc's "killers" i was referring to were players who "killed" msu in the title game. msu got manhandled by unc both times last year. also, they have taken a step down from last year. last year they got killed by unc. i know unc lost some guys (and great players at that), but they still look very good and very capable of beating msu. they matchup very well vs. msu.
