The recent flareup between the Celtics' Rajon Rondo and New Orleans's Chris Paul may be indicative of Paul's frustration as much as Rondo's edginess on the eve of his contract extension. When speaking to reporters afterward, Paul gave the impression that he is tired of working overtime with an unspectacular supporting cast. The Hornets have attempted to build a championship-caliber team but have fallen short, especially in the draft. Paul twice referred to Rondo as a "lucky guy" for playing with three future Hall of Famers and possibly a fourth (Rasheed Wallace).
I blame Bryon Scott for the Hornets terrible play. They don't know their defensive coverages and defensive schemes. They look lost out there. Second of all, none of their shooting guards are producing and WTH is Marcus Thorton doing not starting. They traded for this kid because they like how explosively he was able to produce offense and what is Bryon Scott doing, not starting or playin him at all. No one has any idea how much of a scorer Thornton is and summerleague proved that also.
I blame the General Manager & The Owner..They should makeup their mind about which direction the team is going in.. Will they be a rebuilding team? A team trying to save money? Or a team thats trying to make the playoffs? Paul is a competitor he has to be upset watching this go on...
I think the Hornets need to throw everything they have at Rudy Gay when he is a FA. If it means getting rid of Okafor or West, I think they need to. They wont be able to get one of the big 4, but Gay would just change this team in more ways than imaginable. He would be the perfect fit and a great replacement to Mo Peterson and the aging Peja. If they really want to keep Paul around and keep him happy, they might want to try to get him now, and convince him to stay. If they will promise to give him the money he is asking for, I think he would go ahead and sign with them because of Paul. But, Im no GM.
Another guy they could try to go after would be Kevin Martin. Now that he is hurt, Tyreke is proving that he can be the future at SG which makes Martin expendable. He could probably be easier to get than Gay. He wouldnt help them like Gay would, but he would defiantly be an upgrade and a huge help to CP3.
He has every right to be tired. He's put up MVP caliber performances, but the Hornets just keep on losing. 26 points per game, 11 assists per game, 61.3% from the floor, 72% from downtown, 87% from the line.... those field goal and 3 point percentages are unreal for a guy that scores as much as he does, yet the Hornets are 2-5. What's gonna happen once he comes down to Earth? Will they even win 40 games?
It would be pretty tough to wheel k.martin...collison+like 2 or 3 years of first rounders maybe lol...
...if they don't make playoffs this year, I would blow up that team for young players/draft picks I would not be able to justify paying over the cap for a terrible team. Individually cp3/west/okafor are valuable players, but together, i duno, it's not working so far...also they better fire scott.
It is up to Byron Scott and CP3 to come thru, the team spent money already, they are already up to the cap limit. They have good pieces they just dont seem hungry
