Rookie of the Year Favorite right now

Is is brandon jennings after his great start? Is it Dejuan Blair because he is doing it on a great team? Is it Jonny Flynn because he is leading a team in his rookie season with good stats although not having much help? Is it Stephen Curry because he will get many opportunities to score due to being on GSW? Or is it Blake Griffin because he is most talented rookie who will start when he comes back and has a chance to be a huge contributor to a playoff hunt team?

as of right now, it is definitely jennings. He is playing extremely well for a rookie.. i would like to see his field goal percent go up a little bit, but overall he is doing very well

Right now? It has to be

Right now? It has to be Jennings, he's putting up the best numbers. Blair isn't far behind, he's a beast on the boards for a Spurs team that will probably win 50+ games. The most games played by any team so far is 5, so it's way too early to make a solid pick for rookie of the year. For all we know, Griffin could come back and put up big numbers, Evans could get into a groove, Curry could catch fire, etc...... there are just too many variables. I'm gonna wait until Mid-December at the earliest before I make a solid pick for anything.

A bit early

Relax all the rookies haven't even played, wait till Blake Griffin comes he'll dominate. Jennings looks good he's starting the rest of these guys off the bench. Is anyone else starting even? So far Harden, Evans have been nothin special most of these guys not even in the rotation Thabeet, Hill, Douglas, Tyler H, Collison, Holiday, Maynor etc.

Clipper Fan here

Right now its Jennings by far...but Evans could be in the race, hes gonna get a ton of minutes, but hasnt shown anything right now...Blair is the oppossite,he's a beast but might not get the minutes under Popovich to put up big numbers

Im gonna go out on a limb and say it wont be Griffin...Dumbleavy is not gonna put him straight into the starting lineup right away, hes gonna ease him into it the same way he did with Gordon last year...He's gonna play behind Camby at first and might not crack the starting lineup untill after the all star break

Don't worry about losing points. The person that gave you -1 probably has the I.Q. of a January day in Phoenix. I swear that there are people who never ever post, but liberally take points on every forum topic.

its jennings

but Curry will suprise you that he is defiantely not a oure scorer. He's actaully a pure point guard right now. He's a GREAT passer as well

I agree 100% with what

I agree 100% with what LazarusMunoz said.

It's early, but Jennings has been the best rookie by far. He busted out of the gates with a triple double and hasn't really looked back. Ridnour looks terrible (like the ball is too damn big for his hands), so it's not like he has anybody behind him pushing him for minutes either. I expect Jennings to play a ton and have a terrific season.

Yea, Jennings is the best

Yea, Jennings is the best rookie so far. And I think he'll continue to be the best player Milwaukee has en route to the R.O.Y award.

Blair is definately an

Blair is definately an all-rookie team guy, but he is going to have a hard time getting more than the 20 mpg he is getting in SA. His play is great and his numbers per minute are too, but a guy getting 20 min per game is going to have a hard time competing for ROY honors with guys like Griffin, Jennings, Evans, and Curry getting 30+.

the obvious answer is

the obvious answer is Jenings. He might still end up struggling as teams put more focus on him. But right now it is him with a strong lead. And how about a round of applause for the GM's who refused to visit nbadraft.net and realize that blair and Buddinger were first round picks, let's hear it for them.

Its funny how its always the

Its funny how its always the laker fans on here that bash the clippers the most (Q Hodges and llperez). To claim that the clippers are not a playoff hunt team because of a bad first 4 games in which they had the toughest schedule in the nba is flat out ridiculous. let me guess, u still think the lakers are going to win 70 games? Ur the biased one.

thats because ALL SUMMER you

thats because ALL SUMMER you would throw the clippers in everyones face..talk about how good they are gonna be how dandre jordan has gotten so much better with his out of this world summer work outs..then you bash other teams like the grizz when youre team is doing just as bad..i claim the clippers arent in the hunt because they arent that good and they are the CLIPPERS...you dont see people bashing the golden state fans or the twolves fans because they are making biased comments have the time or get bent out of shape when you say anything negitive about there players..look at youre past post..you damn near get offended when some on says anything bad about gordan and was the same way about jordan..thats why we bash the clippers

speaking about DeAndre

Boy, he sure is struggling so far this season... Terrible... Just plain terrible... I mean he showed a ton of promise in the pre-season BUT then again, pre-season doesn't mean anything other than exhibition games... Jordan, WAKE-UP son! Your family name is very sacred in the game of basketball and you're putting a stain to it so far...

It's clear that DeAndre

It's clear that DeAndre worked extremely hard this past summer on the physical aspect of his game. His body looks very good and you can tell he's stronger. What he's struggling with right now is the mental aspect. He needs to work on the little things like three second calls, illegal defense, defensive rotations, etc. He also needs to be more patient when he has the ball in the post because he's picked up a few walking violations by moving his feet too soon. He's young and it's still early, so he should get these things down and start getting more minutes as the season goes along. The main thing is for him to continue learning. He's not ready to play a ton of minutes right now.

LOL tezo

Did yo watch the game when the Clippers hosted the Mavs? DeAndre played limited minutes and in those minutes he picked up 2 very fast TO's... The traveling call... I think he was in a hurry to go to the hoop and once he got excited, well, he walked too many steps...LOL... Then the next one was a 3-second call... After that he was gone and was replaced immediately by Camby...

yeah he does look like he

yeah he does look like he worked hard on his body..but he doesnt seem to have worked hard on his game..he still lacks many basic offensive post moves or go to moves, and moving without the ball and how to post up hard...and i always wonder why he doesnt sprint down the court all the time to get a facebreak pass down the middle or go for the offensive rebound..hes still young though and very very raw but his game doesnt look like its gotten much better so far...he better get it together soon since craig smith is playing pretty well and when blake comes back camby wont be playing as many minutes as a pf which means he gonna go back to getting most of his minutes as the backup center which gives even less minutes to jordan

Lol marcusfizer yea I

Lol marcusfizer yea I watched that game. I posted about that. I said that Jordan isn't really allowed to play through his mistakes since he has other veteran big men on the team. He gets snatched QUICK. Then he didn't even get in the next game lol. I can't blame Dunleavy though. They're trying to win now and had a really tough four game stretch of games.

Most young big men or even players in general don't really have a go-to move yet Q. I mean, look at LeBron James... He STILL doesn't really have a go-to move. One move that DeAndre has worked on is his hook shot. He just hasn't played enough minutes to show it lol. He was getting ready to do it versus Dallas, but he traveled lol.

I think he'll learn to post hard. I disagree with you about him moving without the ball and running the court though. He does both of those things pretty well. If you've noticed, most of his points come off of alley oop dunks. That requires moving without the ball. He's a good offensive rebounder too. His game has gotten better. He just needs to work on the mental things, which will come through coaching and watching film. As he improves mentally, he'll get more minutes and then he'll be able to show how he's improved his game. The minutes are there... Craig Smith really isn't all that good, though he's a bull and plays aggressive. He makes a ton of mental mistakes himself (getting stripped, charges and turnovers). If DeAndre can improve the mental mistakes, especially defensive rotations... I'm sure Dunleavy would rather give him Smith's minutes.

Well said...

So much for showing his hook shot...LOL

If you've read my topic about the Top10 Players That Intrigued Me The Most, I put DeAndre Jordan at #1 because he is the main guy right now that really has intriguing upsides...

DeAndre is going to get better if he watches, listens and works with the veterans... Actually, the Clippers have 2 guys that DeAndre can benefit from. He is already a good offensive rebounder, alleyhoop finisher and a shotblocker and to have Marcus Camby at his side is already a blessing... His offensive game needs a lot of work but that's why Chris Kaman is there as a blessing in disguise...

GOOD points. That's why I'm

GOOD points. That's why I'm a believer that he'll improve. His situation is a BLESSING in disguise like you said. He has a great defensive and rebounding bigman in Camby and a very good offensive big man in Kaman. You have to think that he's learning a lot from those two without even realizing it. I know Griffin is. He mentioned that he's already stolen one of Camby's defensive moves lol, which is the "sweeping block". It's this move Camby does when he swats the ball out of your hands as your going up instead of trying to block it at the top of your jump.

lebrons go to move is

lebrons go to move is driving to the basket..lol..not a highly skilled move but it works...im saying jordan has no post moves though which int good...oden doesnt really either but he compensates with rebounding and blocking shots...when you cant core that well you have to do other things..and when you out there for limited minutes you have tommake sure you make more good plays then bad in order to stay out there...and he needs to move with out the ball all the time not just from time to time which is where the oops come in...i have to disagree with the good offensive rebounding...he gets some by the ball comming to him but i dont see him working to get any which you need to do when playing against big men who box out..its really hard to say hes a good shot blocker or rebounder when he doent get many of them in his limited time..he averages about 1 offense of rebound a game in those limited minutes and its been proven by other players you can get more rebounds, pts in limited minutes...most coache would love to give jordan smiths minutes but i dont think it will be this year because smith works so hard and does more good out there then mistakes when he gets his time..thats how he actually got more mintes when he was at his old team..just worked hard int he limited minutes he got and didnt make alot of mistakes which cause the coachers to think"hmm he does pretty good in limited minutes so lets see what he can do wit more minutes"

Another thing I want to

Another thing I want to mention about DeAndre is that him and Griffin are best friends. Griffin has really had an impact on Jordan as far as working hard. We all know Griffin is a workout-a-holic. Him and DeAndre have a little competition going on and we all know that, that really helps you when working out, etc. You naturally want to top the other person lol.

Yeah

With Blake around, Jordan will be extra-motivated not to be embarassed... Speaking of the two, the Clippers have two AWESOME young players in their line-up... Imagine if DeAndre stayed one more year in Texas A&M, he would have been a guaranteed top 5 pick in the 2009 Draft, thus he and Blake wouldn't be teammates today... Right?

i wish that was the case cuz

i wish that was the case cuz then adam morrison could become one of the best back ups in the nba while watching kobes work ethic..and sasha could be the worlds best 3rd string wit who ever is behind artest becoming very good also with his hard work..blake need to make him stay after practice...eric gordan is a hard worker as well but his hard work didnt seem to rub off..hopefully jordan will eventually get it but for some reason i just see him being a dan gadzuric..hopefully he proves me wrong

Dan Gadzuric? WOW

If DeAndre ever hears that Q, its a slap in his face... LOL... to the fact that he got compared to Dwight Howard in this site... and Andrew Bynum by the others... LOL... Still, DJ is raw... Just plain raw talent...

Wow Q... You do realize that

Wow Q... You do realize that you at least have to have the talent though, right lol? I mean, Adam Morrison doesn't have the physical talent to be the best backup in the league. I don't care how much he and Vujacic watch Kobe's work ethic. They can still only get so good because they don't have the physical talent like Kobe.

With DeAndre Jordan... The physical talent is all there. The size, length, athleticism, hops/bounce, quickness, speed, etc is all there lol. All that boy needs to do is learn and receive coaching.

Eric Gordon did rub off on DeAndre by the way. Jordan started living in the weight room, just like Gordon toward the end of last season.

Listen... I'm not saying

Listen... I'm not saying DeAndre is going to be better than Bynum Q lol. He doesn't have great hands or feet/offensive footwork, which will probably prevent him from developing an advanced offensive skill set. He has good hands and feet, but not great. However, he can be a VERY GOOD center at both ends though. He has the potential to make a few all-star games.

morrison isnt the athlete

morrison isnt the athlete that jordan is but hes shown more talent then jordan in college as well as the nba..he did put up 13 a game as a rookie..so hes shown more skill..only thing jordan as shown thus far is his ability to dunk and jump..and that doesnt take skill..even in the preseason adam has shown more skill then him ..the reason people say potenial is because of his athletisim but if you take away that would would you say about jordan???..that hes tall thats about it..thats how i judge how skilled a player is..if you take away there ability to out jump someone else would they be able to be effective

clippers-you say i'm biased

clippers-you say i'm biased and always trash the clippers huh? Go back and read anything i ever post about the clippers. I have predicted them as the 8th seed before the season. I have said that Gordan is closing the gap on mayo although i still give a slight edge to OJ. Ihave said they have talent. I said Griffn is the real deal and shouId win ROY. I never really rip on the clippers. The only thing I ever said was that you are smoking some crazy &$#%#&@! if you would seriously take Jordan over Bynum, which you did say. Apparently you think Jordan is this great athleitic defensive guy with more upside then just about anybody in the league. I call you biased for that without hesitation because all you ever do is talk about the clippers. And why would I or any laker fan hold a grudge against the clippers? You guys might think it's a rivalry, but it's just another game on the schedule to us, seriously.
