Kevin Martin gives OJ Mayo the business
I kept flicking back and forth between the Sac vs Mem and Clips vs T-Wolves game last night...
- First thought... All four teams are terrible and it was like chineese water torture watching the games.
- Second thought... Iverson made his debut tonight. It was wierd seeing him in a Memphis jersey. He hit some buckets in the third quarter, but it's going to take him a few weeks to really get rolling. Conley's minutes are about to take a serious hit.
- Third thought... As talented as Rudy Gay is, he's not good at playing team oriented offense. He stops ball movement. He needs to learn to throw the extra pass, move without the ball and stop trying to score off of isolations all the time. It's early in the season, but it looks like he still hasn't improved on defense.
FOURTH thought... Kevin Martin ABUSED OJ Mayo scoring 48 points. Mayo was at Martin's mercy. Mayo couldn't stay in front of him, nor could he stop Martin from shooting.
Kevin Martin is dangerous he does struggle but this game he just destroyed and was a beast filled up the stat sheet. NOw, you think does he have potential to be an All-Star?
Well, if his team does great and are above .500 he could be an All-Star. Same thing happened to Al Jefferson last year he had MONSTER #s but his team did poorly so didn't get it.
Sacramento will be terrible this season, so that's the biggest "IF" in the world right now lol. They'll be in competition with Minnesota for the worst record in the league.
Martin is and up & down player..Sometimes there's nothing u can do when a player gets in da zone..Maybe stop them wit an ak47..lol..Last nite Martin had 48 next game he'll have 15...I mean he's a scorer and thats it..He does a great job of getting to the free throw line..But he's not the type of guy u want as your franchise player...Memphis blow a 14 point lead in the 1st half...Their poor defense allowed The Kings to get back in the game...
You're right but that's what the Kings need right now who can score for them?
mostly them two and then the other players not as high as them.
i actually watched the kings game from begining to end and here are my observations:
Zero defense from either team. Both squads had it going on offense and got whatever they wanted.
KMart looked as good as I've ever seen him. He shot at every opportunity really pushing the pace and giving leadership to his team.
Hawes looked terrific, I think his final line was like 26pts, 12reb, 7asst or something.
Beno looked like a starting pg for once and took all the down the stretch minutes from Evans. Evans is very unselfish and looks to pass on every possesion. But his decision making and shooting are still a ways away.
Jason Thompson was garbage at both ends. He got abused by Randolph and provided zero offense. He looked weak out there.
Omri Casspi is a very intense young rookie who can shoot it and has loads of confidence.
Now the Grizz:
Randolph was a beast. Second 30 point game with 16 boards as well. Got whatever he wanted on offense.
Mayo looked good driving, but his shot was a little off. Also got torched on defense by martin.
Gay is solid and get's his points, but he is still a bit of a ball stopper when it get's in his hands.
Conley's defense was awful. He got lit up by beno udrih and gave up a lay up with 1 second remaining to send it to OT.
Gasol was solid but nothing spectacular. Diddo for Iverson. His speed and shooting are still there, but he seems uncertain when to look for his own shot or pass.
And DeMarre Carroll showed me nothing. There is not one thing he does that is even close to nba level other then he is athletic. He can't dribble, his jumper barely drew iron, zero post moves. This guy is years away from being an nba player.
martin was just plain unstoppable..not too suprised though i remeber watching him give 50 to golden state..the guy is a pure scorer..once again zach was a animal ..not sure why some fans hate on him like hes not good
evans still looks lost as a pg
You could see the effort being put up by OJ though... Gotta give him props for that but Kevin Martin was just drilling it tonight without difficulty... There will be nights like this when even if you're a great defender, you just can't stop a guy whose "feeling" it in a game...
yeah he was having one of those nights..in the zone...what does no one having scored 48 against kobe have to do with this?...lol..ther isnt a debate that oj is as good as bryant offensivley or defensively so what does that comment have to do with anything?...also other people checked martin during that game and he still scored
still makes no sense since mayo is only in his second year...only makes sense if oj is already in his prime
