Trouble in Memphis?
the team just needs some leadership and bringing in z randolph and iverson probably didnt help, mayo is on his way to taking over the team right now though. a lockerroom like this could keep thabeet from developing if he has no one to give him direction since he is so raw
if Gay will get 5years deal, Mayo's sophmore year could be the last his season as a grizzly
Pretty sure this happens often in NBA locker rooms, guys make mistakes, guys argue, guys fight, guys kiss and makeup
I'd say this one is way more interesting, since it wasnt Shaq and RLopez, or KG and Big Baby, or Nate and ZBo, and its actually the teams best, and most valuable players, im going to assume its patched up, but if not, this defintly could mean trouble in Memphis
There were rumors they really didn't get along last season. I'm not surprised at this. One thing about OJ Mayo is he's a competitor and wants to win. I think he showed last season that he, not Gay, is the leader of this team.
This is probably a symptom of what's wrong with the team. I've only seen them play twice so maybe I'm off base, but I think they have a big time problem understanding how the game should be played. In the two games I watched, whoever had the ball in his hands was the shooter. In other words, moving without the ball, passing, and team play was totally non-existent.
I'm sure there are a lot of guys in this forum who've watched Memphis far more than I have. What do you think?
I agree with you. Just imagine how it's going to be when A.I. makes his debut tonight. That'll give them four guys who only want to get the ball and isolate. This is the reason why I don't see Memphis doing well this season.
are u serious? u must have messed that up, grizzly ownership yes is inept, but they are not stupid enough to let this be the last season for OJ in memphis, wat would they do, trade him? thats just stupid, and so r u for that comment
It shows that Mayo wants to be the leader and expects this to be his team and if Gay doesn't like it he won't back down...personally I'd take Mayo, the Grizz have waited for Gay to step up and he's stayed on the same level and don't make excuses...Please, I've heard many made for Gay. Mayo is focused on both ends of the floor judging by this story. That's what the great players do...
It's the beginning of a lot of problems. Last year it seemed Gay was more worried about keeping up with Mayo in shots. Now you have this and then you get to add Iverson and Randolph in the mix. I'm glad Mayo said something about defense. The team is giving up over 115 points a game. For a bad team with a lot of guys that feel that they should be the man, things can only get worse. A.I. is still complaining about coming off the bench and if he gets into the starting lineup at some point Rudy can say so long to some more shots.
you are not so different if you call me stupid with even not understanding my post..lol
did i said something about Mayo's trade??there is no way they will trade him, i'm just saying if gay will get 5yrs contract Mayo could ask to be traded, because he wants to be #1 option on playoff team, not #2 option on lottery team.
and all in all it looks like Gay won't get it and will become FA next summer, so it could be done. Mayo-future of Memphis Grizzlies

Mayo, Rudy Gay Have To Be Separated
Nov 02, 2009 8:18 AM EST
Memphis teammates O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay got into a shouting match near the end of the team's loss to Denver on Sunday night.
Mayo scored a career-high 40 points, but the Grizzlies lost 133-123.
The incident took place during a timeout late in the fourth quarter. Gay took exception when Mayo made a strong comment about his teammates not getting back on defense, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins and a number of players stepped in to separate the two players.
"I told them to shut up so we can get on with the rest of the game," Hollins said. "It's not about you. It's about us trying to win a game. We can't stand here with you guys going back and forth. It was a heat-of-the-moment incident. They get along. They're just competitors. They both want to succeed."
After the game both Mayo and Gay said that the incident was "nothing."

Is this an isolated incident, or the beginning of something serious?
