The thing is they need

The thing is they need better quality players and should get some next year. If they are not able to get Lebron, I hope they may trades where they take on contracts like Morrow Needs a place to get minutes and shoot 3's, he would be perfect for the Knicks. GSW is too deep at guard to use him. He is too good to be offensively to be on the bench. Also Foye and Miller will more than likely go somewhere they can get more minutes and Knicks are there. There are a lot of players that would be happy to get 7 million a year that would sign with the Knicks easy for playing time and also for playing with Mike D and also. You can not blame Mike D for his Knick not defending and also not making shots. None of those players is really a defensive minded player so why would he try to turn apples into oranges.

yeah but other teams with

yeah but other teams with brighter future and better players can get that money on other teams..older players tend to want to go somewhere where they can win..im guessing miller is tiered of going to a loing team..the same with foye..things could possibly get very ugly in ny next year.

they have no "defensive

they have no "defensive minded players" that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Mike D and the players on this pathetic team are totally to blame, as long as he is coach they will never win anything of consequence no matter who they get. It is totally the coaches fault for not instilling some form of accountability for not playing defense as a team. This is ridiculous, this is the type of stuff I would associate with an AAU team not an NBA, or even College team. At some point as a player you would have to take enough pride in yourself and your team to at least apply some kind of basic defensive principles. This is the type of stuff that when you get to College you learn. It's pathetic that the players have no concept of defensive principles and even worse that D'antoni has never seemed to care about anything but scoring 120ppg even if the other team scores 140. That is why I said from the beginning he was a terrible hire who was just hired to bring his exciting to the average stupid basketball fan brand of circus basketball to the Garden to make people forget about Isiah. All he is going to do is set NY back another 10 years. I can't wait till they fire him in 5 years and I can start watching the Knicks again. Should have hired Mark Jackson.

very good point..although i

very good point..although i just cant put all the blame on him because hes not out there letting guys blow right past the players..he tells them to score alot of points but he doesnt tell them to give a guy room to shoot or let a guy put a simple move on you and let him blow past you..at some point a player has to be accountable for the defense he plays

Totally agreed! I think it's

Totally agreed! I think it's ridiculous that players at this level don't have the desire to play "any" defense, I totally blame the players but the Coach has the ultimate responsibilty of creating the culture of what is accepted. From watching his old teams play and watching him on the sideline I just don't think that he truly has any passion for stoping the other team from scoring, and in my opinion you will never win with that mentality. He says all the right things to the media but his actions don't back it up. He should concentrate a lot more on teaching defensive principles instead of his carnival get a shot up every 3 seconds offense. I could go on forever on this subject because I just thought it was a terrible hire at the time, just a big name with a gimmick that would get the fans interested again in the Sportscenter age of basketball that we live in now.

D'Antoni

With D'Antoni as their head coach, do you really think he would emphasize DEFENSE in their game plan???LOL

Only 2 games but

We know the team isn't any good. They gave up 102 in OT thats not that bad problem was they gave up 32 in 1st quarter. The offense doesn't help taking 36 3's more than a 3rd of your shots are 3's. Again gotta realize guys like Chandler, Duhon aren't good shooters. Problem starts with Duhon 56 mins 13 pts 8 asts, 5 To's thats terrible, Felton almost had a triple double on 2 To's. Their going no where until they get a guy who can create or a real post up player. He plays 8 guys total and 2 of them play 6 combined minutes in overtime. Whats D'antoni thinking this isn't a playoff game, play the young guys who cares if you lose you find out what they can do. Man they haven't had a decent coach since Van Gundy.

Surprised?

Should anyone be surprised at their bad start? I mean the Knicks have had some horrible decision makers in the office for some time and they have never fully tried to rebuild the team without adding a bunch of overpriced talent. The past two years, their only concern has been to ship anyone out that would interfere with their 2010 free agency goal. A solid guy like David Lee didn't get any love from the team that has had him at a nice discount since he's been in the league. The best the team he wanted to stay with was willing to do was a one year deal. Right now the coaches and GM are instilling an attitude that says, we don't care what happens as long as we get Lebron. We can win then. Everyone on that team probably feels that they are disposable to the Knicks. So you end up with a bunch of guys more concerned about their stats and working on their next contract. Not many guys on that team think they will be in NY past this year. Plus at some point D'Antoni will need to coach defense and at some point Walsh will have to get him some defensive minded guys. There is just a lot of bad things going on and it can only get worse, and that's before mentioning that Utah has their first rounder this year. NY has to get Lebron to even make all of this chaos remotely worth it, if not I don't see things getting much brighter.

Yea, no one on their team

Yea, no one on their team besides Duhon and Jeffries defends well, and even they are mediocre defenders. Gallinari at least tries at times, but he's a long ways from being a true threat on D. They have to at least make an effort, but they don't so they will be a bad team in terms of wins and losses. The Suns for D'Antoni, for as poor as they were defensively, almost run circles around the Knicks on that end. That's a heavy statement.
