Position

the mavs gave me this idea. so if josh howard guards the shooting guard what position is he playing? What determines your position in the NBA?

which plays a more important role: Your height, what you play on offense, or who you guard on defense.

another example is tim

another example is tim duncan. yao came into the league and duncan became a PF all of a sudden even though he plays just like a center. is what your listed as overrated?

duncan has been playing

duncan has been playing center since Nesterovic left. How can people say he is a forward and Bonner is the center?

No he is classified as a Pf

No he is classified as a Pf because popovich wants him to go down as the greatest Pf of all time, and also so he can making the starting line up for the all star game, do u think he would have ever beat out yao ming and shaq? and lol to the center being the least skilled position, that would suck being compared to kareem, wilt, robinson, shaq, olajuwon etc, they were not skilled at all

Duncan is a mainly a 4 who can play the 4 and 5

His position has always been based on who he played with. Coming out of college he was a center. But pairing him with David he became a PF because david robinson was a better center then him in addition to being bigger and stronger then timmy. The center is normally the tallest, best shot blocking, with the least perimeter ability. If you look at the way the game is played, many center cant play in the high post vs as good as the Power Forwards. Up until the spur stop having quality centers to play with timmy he stayed at the four. Looking at the spurs roster, in addition to his injuries, duncan is the best man to man the center since they have no centers on the bench.

On another subject, No one talks about K.G being a Small Forward. He has been called a 4 his career but up until the last 5 - 6 yrs. he played the 3 the bulk of his career.

when i judge a players

when i judge a players position, i judge how they play the game and where would they play on most teams. To me duncan is a center because he plays like a center and would be a center on most teams. Al jefferson is a pf because he plays like a pf and would play pf on most teams. If dallas uses Howard at sg, then that just means they are using a big line up with an extra sf because howard plays like a sf and would play sf on most teams.

I think when it comes to

I think when it comes to kevin garnett playing small forward, he really did play all positions and guard almost every position so i dont really care where people rank him as a position. He just went out and played basketball, and when you look at his teams garnett could have started anywhere on his team because he never ever played with someone before that was as good to him or even nearly as good as him, when he went to boston he had pierce at the 3 so he played the 4 because it gave the team the best chance to win, this was the first time he had a serviceable starter at a position. When i talk about Duncan and KG in the future i will talk about how i was able to watch 2 of the best BIG MEN of all all time. i wont say best pf or sf, because when you talk about the best players to lace up the shoes not many of them had a true position. We call lebron a sf but is he really at 6'9 260 pounds? They are all basketball players "positions" just help ppl make fantasy teams and try and group players together
