Cleveland Cavaliers Found a Gem When They Drafted Christian Eyenga With the 30th Pick

When the Cavs were on the board on draft night with the 30th pick, I thought that they were gonna go after somebody like Sam Young because they had, had their eye on Sam but that didn't happen. They took a man by the name of Christian Eyenga. At first, I was like "WTH is Cavs thinking taking this guy at 30" but when I went online to some draft sights, they were comparing him to Gerald Green. That was a shocker to me. I came across the link above recently and boy am I amazed at the athleticism that this guy possesses. He has the makings of a star once he decides to play in the NBA. We'll just have to wait and see if he'll be able to put it all together and not blow up like what Gerald Green has.

Ok, how many African Swingmen have every been even moderately successful? Exactly. Not being racist here, but if it's never happened before, there's little chance of it happening now. Yes, Eyenga can jump and slash and shoot a decent mid range J. So can a lot of the prospects late in the first round. Just hear me out, all these guys drafted after Eyenga have more legitimate college experience and are very athletic as well. Derrick Brown (way better defender and fundamentally sound, good athleticism) Sam Young (Nuff said) Jermaine Taylor (great athleticism, much better jumpshot) Chase Budinger (I don't know why any team past Cleveland didn't pick him up. He's just as athletic and long as Eyenga and has better jumpshot and more experience and higher IQ)

I know that Eyenga is younger than the players I mentioned, but how many Africans were drafted in the past 10 years just based on the fact that "yeah, they're way more raw. But they've been playing basketball for a shorter time, so they MUST get better."

My challenge for you is to find me 5 legit African Born and Raised (key part) NBA players in the last decade who did not go to a US college

You probably can't... or can you?

well

well, he went to an american college, so he doesn't count. I think the college game helps raw players become legit, and honestly I don't see Eyenga becoming anything in this league. There's a chance, no doubt, but not very good.

Re: Video

Wow. I wish David Stern would allow such extravagant props in the actual SLAM DUNK COMP. I want to see LeBron go up for a dunk and while in the air, unhook a bra with each hand. THAT would drive ratings through the roof

But seriously, Eyenga's hops, while excellent, is maybe top 20 in the league at best. No on can be successful just based on jumping. (he's not that fast nor quick nor has handles). No successful international in the league was as RAW coming into the league as Eyenga...yet, so I still have my doubts.

by the way you guy´s cant be serious about rating a guys potential by a slam dunk contest viedeo! i mean there are i think so many guys in the nba in college and at highschool you could dunk like that...

Haha so many people in the

Haha so many people in the nba could do this dunk and you dont have to be good to do that, joe alexander his his head on the rim on one and we dont see him playing alot, james white gets a high as anyone ever and he bounces from team to team, having hops helps but it nota a one dimensional skill that helps, like shooting

I like Eyenga as well and I

I like Eyenga as well and I think he's a great athlete with developing skills. He also is a good spot-up shooter which people who haven't watched him don't know. I think he could develop into a Mikael Pietrus type player in time as he has all the tools to be a great defender like Pietrus.
