jrue holiday and reke evans
Why do people bash jrue's game and praise reke. Reke isn't better than jrue at all and jrue has more potential. The only reason people say that is becuase n college reke got to play his game and jrue didn't. Reke has a horrible jumper and is a hog that can only drive.B jennings embarresed him n sl rippin him all those times. Jrue is going to b special his game is just like wades was when he was younger except he is an elite defender at a young age. This site didn't even have reke rated that high until the media started hypin him up. Reke is a 2 guard that they want to b a point becase he can't shoot and needs the ball n his hands to b affective and he's not very athletic. People r going to hate playin with him. Don't forget westbrook didn't look as good at ucla either
I don't know what you're saying.
Reke> jrue all day everyday.
Talking about HYPE Jrue was hyped up so much at one point that mocks had him for the king 4th pick then the kings worked them both out and REKE tore it up at their workout
Your a idiot! In NBA draft workouts Tyreke DOMINATED every guard he went against including Holiday. He can shoot better than he gets credit for he just has a ugly jumper. Holiday sucked it up after his high school years and was only drafted for what he did in high school and poteintal. And Reke only got better you probably didnt even watch him play in college and probably just watch youtube videos.
I like Jrue but he is overhyped not going to say overrated he shoud have stayed another year. Tyreke is ready he is the second best PG in the this draft and the 3rd or 4th best player in his draft. Jrue isn't even close to being the 10th best player in his position from this draft at this moment.
do u mean TYreke evans? the thing about it is is that hes 6'5 and he can gaurd very big gaurds... jrue holiday while solid on defense isnt gonna be able to gaurd vince carter, brandon roy, igudala, people like that... plus hes a way better offensive player than jrue holiday...
Holiday was so overhyped I really dont like his game he is good but not that good evans is the real deal.
he played 2 guard in college, he is a PG... I dont think hes where evans is yet, but i think he has a high ceiling. HIs defense sets him apart, and hes EASILY a better defender than Evans is now hands down.. Offense is another story. He seems to get into paint at will, but has a long way to go in that dept.
While I agree with your assessment of Evans being one of the top 3-4 players in last year's draft, I am still waiting for him to prove he's a legitimate point guard. I think Tyreke Evans will be an outstanding shooting guard in the NBA, but I'm not sure he's a PG.
I'm not saying he cannot play the point, it's just too early to tell. In addition, Sacramento is very strong and deep at PG so they will probably play Evans a fair amount of time as a SG.
Honestly I just see Tyreke like that as going to be a good PG...he's getting the chance to learn and switch his game around he can carry a team you seen what happened when Memphis put him at the Pg they won how many in a row?? Hes going to be great and dominate easily he could turn into a Baron Davis type player with his height and size.
ok lets clear something up..jru was never a pg..he didnt play pg in highschool or aau or college so why are people saying he didnt get to play his natural position?..also evans wasnt the second best pg in the draft because he is more of a combo guard tryna work into a pg. yes he can score but at this point he doesnt set people up that well and he doesnt make others better. in my opinion the best PG's were brandon jennings and johnny flynn. evans could potenially be better then flynn (im not gonna say jennings because i think jennings is speacial) if he learns to make others better and get others involved but i think hes always gonna be a shot first pg since hes always been a score first player...rtbt how do you figure they are deep at pg?..you must mean deep because they have point guards on there roster and not deep because they have a couple of good/effective pg on there roster. im not sure how much evans will play the 2 since martian plays alot of minutes..right now evans isnt really looking that good as a pg.( 3ast to 3.5 turnovers)
Ok you can look at Reke as devin harris, they both are more of scorers then facilitators they both dont shoot high percentages from deep, they can get into the lane or get their shot off any time they want. They still open up things for their teammates whether it was their intention of not because they put so much pressure on the defense. Most of their assists come from them just making a simple pass when they get double teamed or they draw the defense in and kick it out. The thing is people never say harris should play sg is because he's short, and why people say evans should play sg is becuz hes tall
quincy why was jrue not the PG at UCLA? we both know the answer it was because Collison stuck around.. Point blank, and Jrue had more size. he was a combo guard coming to UCLA, not strictly a SG. If Collison left UCLA the previous year (which he could have) Jrue would have been the starting PG.
A true combo guard, Holiday is the most complete guard prospect in the 2008 class. He is an explosive athlete, yet efficient player with a smooth stroke from deep and the ability to slash to the basket and finish in a variety of ways. In fact, he is actually a better driver and finisher with his left hand. On the other side of the ball, he can lock down either guard position and is a strong rebounder.
Hes got nice handle is definitely not a SG in the nba..
mictowave..jru wasnt a pg in college either...hes playign pg now because hes not a good sg..he does have the potenial to play pg but he never was a pg on any level so i think that is why quincey was talking about jru not being a pg...and just because scouts say someone is the most complete this or that whiel they are in hs doesnt mean it will trasnlate into the nba. bj mullas was suppossed to be the number one pick. derrick rose wasnt supossed to be drafted that high ..all this accoarding to draft sites( this one also) about players...after watching summer and preseason it is clear jru has alot of things to work on and that thoses trengths that worked in hs doesnt work as well in the nba..that was also shown in college. on a side note darren collins is good but if jru was a great pg or even considered one of the best as a freshman he would have shared time alot more at pg or even took the spot and he would have put up better numbers..you remeber the illinois team?..dbrown very good ball handler all american pg yet the team let dwill handle the ball more and control the offense more and had dee more at the 2 guard because dwill is a better pg
Yea Jrue Holiday played SG in HS and college, but he's going to have to be a PG to have the most success. His play last year proved that. He's simply was not a good enough shooter or athlete to play off the ball in college but he showed some flashes of being a steady PG if given time. I'm not a Holiday fan or a person that wanted us to get him at all, and I wanted him to prove that he was actually a PG before he declared, but don't think that he's some proven PG or he's played it all his life because he hasn't. It's just the position he's best suited and the position he projects to be.
And Tyreke Evans has elite scoring skills, and could be a potentially dominant PG given the mismatches he provides. He won't get alot of assists or wow you with a pass, but he'll have no trouble scoring on PG's at all. Holiday doesn't have any standout characteristic as a player, so Evans to me is the better player
Quincy wrote, "rtbt how do you figure they are deep at pg?"
Good question, let me try to answer.
First, they have 3 guys who are capable of playing the point, Evans, Rodriguez, and Beno Udrih.
Second, unlike most people, I happen to think Udrih is a pretty decent point guard. He had a few injuries and he was unfortunate enough to be the PG on probably the worst team in the NBA. Who are you going to set up on such a dismal team? I think if Udrih was on a better team, he would be far more productive. I'm not saying he's a great PG, just better than most people give him credit for.
Third, Sergio Rodriguez was muffled in Portland and never given a full opportunity to show what he can do. In the right situation, I think Rodriguez could become an outstanding PG. Is Sacramento the right scenario for him? I don't know.
Fourth, although he hasn't proven he can do such, I'm guessing T. Evans could be a very good PG. However, I'm very confident he would be a killer as the SG. And that works out great because the Kings have an injury at small forward, so moving Kevin Martin to SF would be the logical move. That would open up a lot of playing time for T. Evans as the SG, leaving the point to Udrih and Rodriguez.
If Beno Udrih were on a better team he wouldn't get alot of PT, he's a 2nd PG at best. What is his best attribute as a player? I've watched him a little here and there as a player in San Antonio and Sacto, but I don't see anything that he's really that good at. He plays too weak to me, him and Rodriguez. I like Rodriguez more though because he's a flashy passer, but he's no starter either. I think they should play Reke at PG this year and then get a starter to lock it down for the forseeable future after the year's over.
And moving Martin to SF wouldn't be logical, as he would have a very tough time creating against the bigger SF's the NBA has to offer and defending them as well. Martin would have a bad year if he were to play most of his minutes at SF.
carrying memphis through the weak conference usa and carrying a nba team is 2 different things..i really dont see the difference between evans and larry huges when he came into the leauge..evans never was good at making anyone else better or setting others up so why is everyone thinking he will be such a great pg. i can see him being a very good sg but im just not buying the pg part mainly because his mind set has always been to score first and second and pass third. scoring alot and not passing or making others better doesnt make you a pg. thats a problem allen iverson also had and teams dont like that in there pg because it doesnt trasnlate to wins because it doesnt get everyone involved..now as a sg yeah that works..rtbt you havnt convinced me that they are deep at pg..evans isnt a pg yet and the other 2 are back ups..they are no deeper then most other teams
I wasn't trying to convince you, I was merely explaining my thought process. I had no illusion it would change anyone's mind.
As for iguodala9 and others, I'm not saying B. Udrih is a potential star. I just don't think he's as bad as people claim. I think being the PG on Sacramento the last 2 years was a terrible job, plus Udrih was injured off and on both seasons. You might be right, he may not be worthy of being a starter in the NBA, but he also doesn't deserve all of the criticism he gets.
As for Rodriguez, it's really hard to gauge what he can do because he never had a consistent opportunity to perform with Portland. In the little that I saw from him, I saw flashes of brilliance at times. Does that mean he can be top flight point guard? I don't know, but it tells me has the ability. Of course we know there are many players who have lots of potential that is never realized.
