Detriot what should they do
Everyone know the situation in detriot what do you guys think?
trade rip for boozer... or another expiring.... then go for another forward/center in either next years FA class or 2011...
if they can get good value for tayshaun id trade him... but kaman/camby i wouldnt consider fair.. they need a good center and possibly a better pg
Trade Rip for Boozer/Bosh/expiring contract, keep Prince for another year or two to mentor Daye, Summers, and Jerebko, and get a true point guard in the draft or free agency (Stuckey is NOT a pure point; he's a bigger Gordan minus the pristine jumper)
man, you guys honestly think they could get either boozer or bosh for rip hamilton? He is in his 30's is no longer an all-star and has another 4 years and 48 million coming to him. The Jazz have made it very clear that they have zero interest in taking on a long term contract in any potential boozer trades. They are already over the limit and still need to give Brewer and Memo extensions.
Dumars has been messing up recently. The rip extension last season seemed like a dumb idea from the get go, and then they spent all their cash this off season on a backup and a big man who is not tough defensively. They do not have any room under the cap next offseason to go after any significant free agents, so they are stuck with this group for a few years unless they can find some takers for rip's or prince's contracts.
i honestly think they can get boozer for rip.... boozer isnt gonna resign with the jazz anyways and even if he wanted to i doubt that the jazz would make him an offer... rip would fit VERY well in the jazz system and with deron williams... i see no reason why the jazz wouldnt do this except for possible luxury tax payments down the road, and if you would rather have ronnie brewer than rip ur crazy... dont extend him just keep rip... but i dont think they could get bosh or someone like that...
also u dont know if dumars is messing up lately... he made ONE trade to rebuild his team... they havent even played a gme yet this season.... not to mention his plans could be for something different down the road
well, i wasn't basing my opinion of dumars messing up on ONE trade. I pointed out how he gave rip an extension that was over his value. Especially since they seem to be looking to rebuild and rip is in his 30's and on his way down. I also pointed out how they have maxed out their salary cap space for the next few years, and have some glaring holes. No inside presence, two guys in Rip and Gordon making 22 mill per who play the same position. We still don't know if Stuckey is a pg or a sg. I don't think they are contenders in the east and they were in a situation to have more money to spend then just about anyone and they turned it into rip, gordon, and Charlie v. That's about 30 million per year they committed to and they didn't come out with a franchise player or all-star for their efforts. I could also point out how Iverson was told he was gonna be a starter and rip was furious about it and the whole situation was a mess. Shouldn't Dumars have got all that stuff ironed out and made sure the players were on the same page before he traded away his best player? instead he sat back and let the coach and the players try and figure it all out and they all took the fall while people didn't call out dumars at all. I can continue this, but you are correct, I do not know if Dumars has been messing up, it's just my opinion.
I agree with llperez22 they are not gonna get boozer for hamilton that would not be a smart move for the jazz especially financially players dont get better as they age in their 30's and 4 years 48 million is a lot of money to be stuck with. I think dumars has made a lot of bad moves recently the iverson deal the coach they had I think they over paid for ben gordon and Charlie V is vastly inconsistent for every one good game he had he will have 3 bad games.
