The Boston Celtics

There is a lot of talk about how deep and talented the Lakers are, but I want to talk about the Celtics. I feel that this team isn't talked about enough on here. It's arguable that the Celtics' first ten players are better than the Lakers' first ten. Other than the shooting guard position, it's arguable that the Celtics are equal to or better at every other position.

PG: Rondo - Danny Ainge has said that Rondo has been the brightest spot during training camp. He has a different attitude and has been more coachable. He's also been working on his shooting. He was invited to the USA Camp this summer. I'm not saying he'll be an All-Star, BUT he'll have an All-Star type season.

SG: Allen - People are quick to say he's old, but he's entering his 14th NBA season just like Kobe Bryant and takes care of his body just as well. Still one of the best shooters in the game.

SF: Pierce - Has lost 10-15 pounds and is ready to go. Still has a complete game and is one of the most clutch players in the game.

PF: Garnett - His knee is 100% healthy structure wise and he's playing without pain. Now he just needs to get his mind and conditioning in game shape. With his personality, emotion and swagger... This is a different team.

C: Perkins - Played very good during the regular season and especially during the playoffs. He got an invite to the USA camp this summer, got married and has lost pounds. He's in a good place right now and ready to contribute. His shoulder is 100% healthy, so he can get back to doing what he does best... Setting tough screens, playing tough defense and being a intimidating enforcer around the rim.

6th: Wallace - Has PERFECT chemistry with the team already. Pierce said that when Wallace showed up, it was like he was supposed to be there. He's a perfect fit on this squad. He guards Dwight Howard really well. That gives them three long defenders (Perkins, Garnett and Wallace) to guard Howard. That's also three long defenders to match up against Bynum, Gasol and Odom.

7th: Davis - Had a good season and played great during the playoffs. Fresh off the contract extension, he's also lost weight and is more confident. He was also invited to the USA Camp this summer. Is it safe to say that he's becoming one of the best mid-range shooting power forwards in the game?

8th: Daniels - An underrated player who fits perfectly with the Celtics. The Celtics, especially Pierce have raved about his versatility, defense and IQ. He's tall, long and can play three positions. There has been talk about the Lakers playing their big lineup. Well, there's been talk about a big lineup in Boston too. Daniels, Pierce, Garnett, Wallace and Perkins. One thing people also might not know is that he defends the Kobe Bryants and Vince Carters of the NBA very well. Last season vs the Pacers (Pacers won on buzzer beater) he was really good at making Kobe take jumpshots and denying him the ball in the post.

9th: House - Still one of the best shooters in the game... We all know how hot he can get. He's a better shooter than Vujacic, especially in the clutch.

10th: Williams - Another big body, but the greatest thing he's accomplished since college is marrying Candace Parker lol.

This team is hungry and as usual, are talking about DEFENSE. Watching their practice, this team talks/communicates very well on defense. They also rotate and guard the pick and roll better than any other team in basketball. IF they can stay healthy, I see them having the best chance at defeating the Lakers in a 7 game series.

I was watching too, and I

I was watching too, and I think everyone should watch out for JR Giddens. He has the potential to be a good defender (he was guarding Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo when I watched) and possibly run a little PG if they choose to play him there. He's similar to Tony Allen but he has a better jumper.

Did you notice how much bigger Rondo has gotten? He's bulked up, I think he's 180-ish now. He is that much closer to being the best defender at the PG spot in basketball now.

ehhh...... they won't win

ehhh...... they won't win it.

this isn't an excuse, but they are too old, their time has passed, Rasheed wil do nothing for this team, he hasn't played up-to his potnetial nor tried since his Portland days. Allen and Pierce , I wanna see who the he on their squad can guard todays elite 2's and 3's, how can they get passed Cle.? LeBron will have a party on them

Yea, I noticed that about

Yea, I noticed that about Rondo too. I feel that he will have an All-Star type season and should be a 1st Team Defender. Giddens to me can be what Tony Allen used to be before his knee injury.

That's the same thing they

That's the same thing they said about the 2008 Celtics mikenike lol. I disagree with you about Wallace not having done anything since his Portland days. He won a championship with Detroit and is the guy that put that team over the hump.

Since we're talking about "old" are you forgetting that Cleveland has a 37 year old starting center who had to play every other game last season and a 34 year old center with a history of foot injuries as his backup lol?

The thing about the Celtics is they play great team defense. Whoever guards LeBron will have plenty of help. I also think the game plan with LeBron is that you're not going to stop him, so shut down everybody else.

LOL, good arguement but,

LOL, good arguement but, Shaq can still dominate I believe, he dropped 45 and 16 last season, he can still score downlow whenever he wants, because he has the post moves and he is simply overpowering downlow, as for the team D concept, heres the problem with relying with that too often, if you have the mentality that, well its okay if he burns me on the perimeter because the next guy downlow will stop him, thats false, that draws the help witch can create a easy drop off pass for a dunk, or a kick to the corner for a three ball.

Shaq and Big Z have to be

Shaq and Big Z have to be the oldest center combination in the NBA. They're 71 years old combined!!!

I hear you on the problems with help defense, but the Celtics rotate better than any team I've ever seen.

what makes u think Toronto

what makes u think Toronto could ever beat Boston??? Im not sure if Boston will make it back to the finals, but they are def. better than Toronto in every single way. The Raptors are soft. Anyways I'm a big Laker fan, but the Celtic are the only team in the east that has a legit shot at beating LA in the finals. I dont think Cleveland would be able to match up with the Lakers at all, and no way Orlando can beat them this year earlier. I really liked the Celtic's off-season and would love to see them play LA and settle who the best team in the league is, as it's obviously between them

Yea, there's no way Toronto

Yea, there's no way Toronto wins even 1 game this season against Boston in a playoff setting. The Celtics are better at every position (I like Garnett in a matchup with Bosh) and have more depth.

LOL

That's funny... Bargnani settles too much for jumpers and never did try and attempt to get physical with anybody... There's no way he could get past guys like KG and K-Perk...LOL... let alone Rasheed...

The Celtics will be one of the contenders in the NBA this season as KG vows to remain healthy until the playoffs... We'll see about that...
