Since I guess this decade is being brought to a close, who do you guys think would be on an all-decade team? Only including players that played in at least 6 seasons in the 10 year span from 1999-2000 until 2008-2009.
Here's who I think would make it. Keep in mind that these statistics and accomplishments are only from the decade and don't include anything pre 1999-2000.
PG: Jason Kidd - 14.0 PPG, 9.2 APG, 7.0 RPG, 1.9 SPG/ 7 time All-Star, 8 time All-NBA Defensive, 2 NBA Finals
SG: Kobe Bryant - 28.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 5.2 APG, 1.7 SPG/ 10 time All-Star, 9 time All-NBA Defensive, 1 NBA MVP, 4 Championship Rings, 1 Finals MVP
SF: Lebron James - 27.5 PPG, 7 RPG, 6.7 APG, 1.8 SPG/5 time all-star, 1 time All-NBA Defensive, 1 NBA MVP
PF: Tim Duncan - 21.4 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 2.3 BPG/10 time All-Star, 10 time All-NBA Defensive, 2 NBA MVPs, 3 Championship Rings, 2 Finals MVP
C: Shaquille O’Neal 23.1 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 2.2 BPG, 58.5 FG%/ 9 time All-Star, 1 NBA MVP, 4 Championship Rings, 3 Finals MVP
PG: Steve Nash - 16.2 PPG, 9.1 APG, 49.4 FG%, 43.6 3P%, 90.4 FT% / 6 time All-Star, 2 NBA MVPs
SG: Dwyane Wade - 25.2 PPG, 6.7 APG, 4.9 RPG, 1.8 SPG/ 5 time All-Star, 2 time All-NBA Defensive, 1 Championship ring, 1 Finals MVP
G: Allen Iverson - 28.1 PPG, 6.2 APG, 2.2 SPG/ 10 time All-Star, 1 NBA MVP, 1 NBA Final
SF: Paul Pierce - 23.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.5 SPG/ 8 time All-Star, 1 Championship Ring, 1 Finals MVP
F: Dirk Nowitzki - 23.6 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 38.2 3P%, 87.4 FT%/ 8 time All-Star, 1 time NBA MVP
PF: Kevin Garnett - 21.6 PPG, 12.1 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.6 BPG/ 9 time All-Star, 10 time All-NBA Defensive, 1 time NBA MVP, 1 time DPOY, 1 Championship Ring
C: Yao Ming - 19.1 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 1.9 BPG, 52.5 FG%, 83.2 FT% / 7 time all star
The hardest cut for me to make was Pierce over McGrady. McGrady has the slightly better stats, but Pierce is the better defender, has proved to be more durable and has a championship and Finals MVP to his name.
Tracy McGrady - 24.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 5.2 APG/ 7 time All-Star
nice list man. it's hard to replace anyone from the starters. if only howard could be in there...but he aint played 6 years yet...dam-n... you know ?
Haha I know, it helped me keep the list a little less biased tho
leaving out Nash is tough too considering he won 2 MVP's.
I would replace LBJ with KG that's my only suggestion
ALLSTAR APPERENCES OR HOW EVER U SPELL IT
BLaZermaNN, those are just Shaqs all star appearances from the decade, NOT from before 2000.
i agree with the prodigy, as much as i love LBJ, Garnett has dominated for the entire decade and has a championship, dpoy, and an MVP to his name. LeBron will eventually replace him, but for now Garnett gets my vote in the starting lineup of the King
Iverson you should consider as first team. this guy dominated the league for awhile and is one of the greatest scorers of all time
1. I would slightly prefer Nash on point guard position. Reason - he is far more threatening offensive player - his percentiges from field, from 3 and from free throw line are better. Otherwise - both are great leaders, great passers, great playmakers, great rolemodels, great mentors, great teammates, great peronalities. Nash only is a better shooter :)
2. I would cut Allen Iverson cold-bloodedly out from this list - there ´s a very few coaches who wod want him in their team - as basketball is a team game :)
3. Already today is clear, that Howard is significantly more dominating than Yao. So if he cant make it to this rotation yet, he does that when time-limit is up. :)
Otherwise - great list. Weird thing - If I should bet 500 dollars to each of the teams win - I would´nt hesitate to put my money on team 2. As a team, I think, they are far more stronger than first: as first team has only superstars, who want to play with the ball, except Steve nash, in other team there is enough of team-players - Paul Pierce, Dwayne Wade, Jason Kidd, KG, even Dirk. And all of them can take it over and be a clutch player, if needed. If I had to pick a locker room, Id prefer the other, too :)
how can you leave off iverson reguardless if some coaches dont want him on there team. im willing to bet iverson in his prime would be wanted on just about every team reguardless of his antics
I dont think so. He is in pretty good shape right now, too. Why would u think he never won anything? Why would u think- memphis is only one who wants him, and for 3.5 mil dollars?
dude the Philidalphia team would have won 10 games probably without him but he took them to the finals and Kidd and Nash havent won anything either.
might be the fact he didnt have a good team...pat ewing also never won anything as well as charles barkley..and just like them iverson is a shoe in for the hall of fame reguadless of youre opnion of him hes one of the best to ever play
