Why Is Portland Letting Jerryd Bayless Rot on the Bench Like That?
he needs a change of scenery to help jumpstart his career, i dont understand why no one wants to go for him, he has a bright future but maybe portland wants too high of a pick in return
If New York were even interested in Bayless, I don't think that Portland will be interested in anything they had to offer. They do have a couple of young players and a ton of expirings, I just don't think that New York will be willing to give up any of the young players knowing that Bayless hasn't performed in the NBA due to lack of playing time. Talented players that don't play still scare a few teams even knowing that if they got playing time, they would explode.
simply because hes not ready to play point guard yet. his passing and ball handling are shaky and i dont think hes a good fit for Portland they have 2 really good players at the two in Rudy and Roy and he isnt a legit point guard right now. i agree he would be better somewhere else.
should give him 8-6 mintues to showcase him. i just dont get why teams hold onto players knowing they talented but just cant seem to perform well for em see reddick and the magic. just trade him already and get some value out of him/
He tore up the summer league last year because he was allowed to roam and play his own game. In the 2009 summer league, he tried to prove himself as a point guard and struggled with turnovers and decision making. He's just not a true point guard, which is what Nate McMillan's offense requires. A change of scenery would be good for him, especially if he was traded to a team like the Warriors or Knicks.
he might not be ready to run the team right now but whos to say he wont develope into a great starting pg.billups took years to develope and now hes one of the best. id love to see a backcourt of bayless and roy that would be so fun to watch.i see miller running the team this year and next year with bayless learning from him but after that i think theyl hand the reins over to bayless. i think your forgetting how young he is too hes somethin like 21. the kid is crazy athletic and has an insane work ethick you dont just get rid of players like that the blazers would be crazy to give him up
he was a rookie last year you can just come into the league expecting to get starter minutes. he knows he has a place with this franchise he just has things to learn and improve. alot of the plays go through roy anyways the pg really just needs to be able to walk to ball up to halfcourt, play d and hit open shots. there are lots of players who dont get the playing time they want but how many of them go asking to be traded?
He would be good for Pheonix as well, he could either fill a Barbosa type. I think he has the ability to score around 20 ppg as he can do it all when it comes to scoring, even off the bench. One thing is for sure, he isnt a PG. Watching him try to play PG in SL was horrible, he has 0 playmaking ability for others.
The Blazers should package him with Martell Webster and get an idea of what they possibly could get in return.
bayless is not a point he is a 2 ,brandon roy plays point when he is in but he will be gettin time this year but more as 6th man he should lite up the score board this year with like 15 point off the bench
every team needs a great bench with him and outlaw and steve blake and rudy and joel now thats a great bench and im not even talkin about webster the gunner from downtown
the knicks would be awesome with him. Think about a more explosive barbosa in dantoni's system. And NYK does have one player i think that would interest Portland and that's Wilson Chandler. I just don't think would make that trade until Bayless gets some consistent minutes
HE ISN'T ROTTENING ON THE BENCH...ROTTENING IS what portland allowed JERMAINE O'NEAL to do for several years before giving him away to indiana where he became an allstar...BAYLESS has to become better at leading a team instead of looking to go one-on-one all the TIME...plus he gets beat too often on defense...he has the talent to become a bigtime scorer in this league..and just like O'NEAL ..who had during his time in portland had to sit while players like(sabonis, wallace, brian grant, pippen and schrempf played in front of him..AND JUST like O'NEAL he has too many veterans that are playing better than he is right now..i think he should be traded to a team so he can flourish..don't say he's rottening..he's only been in the league for a year...
dude defense isnt a problem. he doesn't get beat that much hes a much better defender than Blake. and it is rotting when you put someone on the bench who could put up 20 a game. he just isnt a good fit here.
I had high expectations of him, i expected him to be a ROY canidate..(we've all been wrong about prospects before)
He needs to get traded, if the Blazers got Paul Milsap and/or Lamar Odom, or anyone besides a PG Bayless would of been the backup, and potentially emerged as the starter (sicne they traded Segrio) but after they got Miller, it kind of puts a wound in his career, i hope he gets traded to somewhere were he will get legit playtime
Oh and there was a rumor that the Blazers wanted and S&T for Lee, an offered Travis Outlaw(exp) and Bayless, but the Knicks wanted Fernandez instead, so those talks died...would of been interesting to see that happen though
Hes like the rest of these shooting point guards in the league they just score in a bunch but make no1 on there team better or have any type of ball movement teams are avoiding that these days. Hes very talented but he needs to learn to play the pg.
Bayless is a selfish shoot first undersized shooting guard. He will never be a point guard, so Portland needs to realize that and ship him out. On a team that'll accept him for what he is, he'll put up a ton of points.
Bayless definatly needs to be moved. I would like to see him play for the young, exciting Suns. He could be great off the bench for them. A definate upgrade over the other backup PG. Could learn from Nash and Barbosa. Imagine their future lineup.
Bayless
Richardson
Clark
Stoudamire
Lopez
That of course would be in a few years. They could be really exciting. Well, except for Lopez.
I like Bayless, but he's always received criticism about not making his teammates better and being somewhat selfish. I've always thought he was a little selfish offensively. I've also read that quite a few places. Read the nbadraft.net scouting report.

I just don't understand the reason why Portland's gonna let Jerryd Bayless most likely rot on the bench this year again. There hasn't really been any active rumours about Blazers trying to move Steve Blake (I was hearing Miami was interested in him but talks died) so it really does look like Jerryd Bayless will rot on the bench again this year because there's just no way that a starting point guard on a 50 win team will be a 3rd string PG. Bayless has a lot of talent and he proved that in the summer league. Talent like that needs to be developed even if he's a scoring point guard or undersized shooting guard.
