I like to see more opinios about those 2 players..let's talk about evrything: *who will be better? *how good is Lance? *how good is Renardo? *are they top10 talents from this draft? *could attitude issues fall them out of 1round?
Stephenson is better in my mind, but I think Sidney would be great too. I could see them going anywhere in the draft depending on what happens. Attitude issues, if any, might have them fall 5 picks if they show any issues on the court. Otherwise, these players should be in the 1st Round.
Sidney has all the talent in the world to be a top 5 pick its the draft, hes big long mobile, stephenson also has alot of talent but he doesnt have the physical ability to be a high pick, if they both over come their issues, they'll pan out
I've seen this guy play a bunch (I live in LA), and I have to be honest... I think he's terrible. I'm not trying to predict the future and say he will never be good, but I question how many times some of you guys have actually watched him play whole games... and if you have, what could you possibly like? He reminds me of an even more out of shape Zach Randolph (body type, attitude, super poor feel for the game) and a late career Antoine Walker (black hole on offense, thinks he can shoot the 3, thinks his handles/quickness are better than they are)... he never works hard, has awful body language, no sense about shot selection at all... his body/conditioning are a real red flag to me. Granted many players bodies need work at his age (too skinny, too heavy), but he is straight up fat... not "heavy" or needing to be toned... fat... it makes me question his dedication... other than his height there is almost nothing good about him to project at he next level, much less the NBA, and I'm not a huge believer in height anyway... smaller "undersized" 4's and 5's are going to beast him with toughness and intensity... some excellent players, regardless of why, couldn't crack the first round in this years "weak" draft (Blair, Young, Budinger, Summers etc.), and some people are talking about Sidney as a lottery pick? I could be wrong, but I don't think so...
i pretty much just did this same exact post like 2 days ago.
in all honestey, I think Sidney is one of the more talented players to come along in the last couple of years. I dont know what the guy above me is talking about. Yeah he's out of shape, but the right college coach will get him in shape. He has big/soft hands, a great handle for someone his size, good passing ability, solid/improving post game, and a good jumper. He gets hated on a lot because he's been at the top for so long, and as soon as players in his class started catching up to him, people thought he sucked. If u remember people said the same thing about OJ Mayo going into college and Tyreke Evans. And lets be honest, what high school player goes all out every single time? I mean damn, if i was that good i'd get a lil bored going up against weak competition all the time. Any time he went up against a big name though he always showed up. Check the Jordan All-Star game. He was co-MVP beating out the beloved John Wall. Sidney has the most talent in this years draft next to Favors and Wall imo. He will be a beast at Miss. St
Lance at best will be like LJ backk when he was Grandma Ma, but he is far from that as it stands.
Did u really just compare Lance Stephenson (a combo guard) to Larry Johnson (a power forward)?
Sidney. Both have a bad attitude, but Lance's is even worse. Lance has a lot to prove. I think if Renardo gets into good shape and commits to play defense he is a lock as a top-10 pick. He can shoot, has solid size, is strong, can handle and lastly can pass extremely well for a big man. I think Renardo is better than Cousins and is much better than Lance. I'm not saying Lance is a bad player either. He's got a lot of talent.
LJ was a small foward and so is Lance if you really watch his game. Combo, no. Shooting guard not yet.
Yes Sidney has more physical ability, but I'd go Stephenson. Yes, I'm a guy that thinks he has a bad attitude, but his attitude has alot to do with his competitive fire and frustration with him being ahead of his teammates in the things he does (his HS teammates couldnt always handling his passes, the shots he took, etc....) while Sidney has never been confused for a player with alot of intense passion on the court. His weight problems, defense and him being almost allegric to the paint scare me more than a player who plays hard and has an intense competitive nature. He may be great in college, but it will be strictly off of physical tools. Stephenson will dominate with his D, scoring and rebounding and it will be through hard work to go along with his physical ability.
lance and llj were 2 different players..lj didnt develop into a sf till later in his career and that was only because he could hit the three..his handles wasnt that good and there was no way he could ever play the 2..he was a 4 that could play some sf..lance is a 2 maybe a three. there games were nothing alike..thgats a horrible comparision
How do you guys think, what statistics they will have this season in college?
Yeah, except it's a great comparison. LJ was slashing and dunking when he was on Charlotte, I have no clue what y'all were watching. Youtube it if you want. As I said he at that point was way better than Lance is at this stage. However that's where I see lance having the ability to be most effective in the future. If you think he is gonna be dribbling out the ball all day in the NBA you and Lance are in for a surprise, the NBA is not Lincoln highschool plus lance is just not that quick but you'll see. Lance will be along the lines of and Artest or a young LJ those are examples of what your game looks like when you're a perimiter player in the NBA relying on strength.
I think Stephenson will have the ball alot in the NBA, and he has a nice 1st step. He also has long arms and gets enough elevation to not have any problem getting his shot off. I think Lance is a phenomenal offensive talent and I see him being a 20 ppg scorer in the NBA. I feel the same way about Sidney, but I think he'll go about it in a way similar to Antoine Walker and Zach Randolph (who he really reminds me of). Which is scoring and rebounding, but not efficiently and/or in a winning way.
i watched lj he did most of his work with midrange jumpers and banging down low..you wont find anywhere where they compare lance to lj...plus lj was 260..horrible
yeah he weighs more b/c he's taller and probably better, but that's the kind of game Lance has. Other than his slashing, every jumpshot he takes looks like a bad shot. That doesn't fly in the NBA unless you're Gilbert Arenas. Lance is a short Grandmama.
Sebastien Telfair should have a long talk with both of them
