Darko's Last CHANCE!
With Darko's arrival to the big apple, the Knicks finally get a legit 5 capable of running up and down the court and playing aggresive D (unlike Curry). I was wondering however, will Darko realize the magnitude of this opportunity presented to him (in that he will start, and play in an uptempo system which i believe suits his athletic game best). If he does, will he capitalize this chance given to him, and actually produce the sort of numbers that will finally rid him off his bust label (10 -10?). For his sake, i hope he does, because this may well be his last opportunity to showcase what he can do when provided big minutes. This dude after all has game, and if he realizes it, he may become a Chris Kaman type (solid double - double player).
i think the guy needs some confidence
i mean when you have the whole basketball world calling you a bust your confidence wouldn't be the highest
If D'Antoni gets confidence in darko results should follow
I think Hill and Lee will be the starters with Darko coming off the bench.
hill won't start, he will come off the bench most games and start next year when Lee is gone, Curry will also get playing time so they can trade him
lol..a legit 5?????..are you serious . since when ishe a legit 5..come on now hes a bust plain and simple everytime he goes to a new team someone always says" this is his last chance"..the guy is avg 1.pt and 1reb more then jason collins for career averages almost the same with jarron collins and less then kwame brown. darkos a bust if he was just a lotto pick. im sure some people will be fouled if he averages a lil more only because the knicks stink and d'antoni's offense. and if curry is in even 10 percent shape he will most likely start over darko. And definatly be better then him
and chris kaman type will neeeeeeeever happen. i know they say neve say never but i just have to
But do you really see a 300 pound man with a heart murmur fitting in to D'Antoni's system? Curry is better at the 5 than Darko, but in a half court system, I think IF Curry is in good enough shape to play he is going to struggle in New York's new run and gun system. I know the Knicks will play Curry because they are trying to get rid of his contract, but I think Darko and Lee will start, I don't think Darko is going to give you more than 9 7 and 1.5, which doesn't make him not a bust at #2, but I don't think it makes him a terrible player either.
i think a bad shaped curry is better then darko. thats how much i dont believe in darko. he may start by default but in no way i will consider him a legit center. hes never shown close to being that. with a legit center i cant go to each team in the nba and pick a big man or 2 or in some cases 3 that id pick to replace him. id take kwame brown over him
He had flashes of mediocracy in Orlando, He is a big body who can block a couple shots and rebound a little bit. He's a solid 275 too, but I understand why people doubt him so much, I thought going to Memphis would give him a chance to step it up and be a solid player, and he didn't do that. He got beat out by Marc Gasol and actually played worse than he did in Orlando. I haven't counted him out as a defensive center, but I don't think he is going to blow up in New York. I'm not big on Curry at all, he can score, but he's slow, doesn't hustle and for a 6'11'' 290 pounder he doesn't apply himself at all on the glass. His scoring makes him an asset, but in the run and gun system, he won't be able to play more than a couple minutes without taking a break.
flashes of mediocracy...lol..thats the first honest thing ive seen from people on here. most say he showed flashes of being a very good player some even said all star
The thing with Darko is that he'll walk out on the court, disappear for 5 minutes, then suddenly have an awesome highlight move...followed by zero emotion and looking down at his feet. He has all the physical tools, which is why it's so frustrating to watch him do so little.
anyone can have a awesome highlight move here and there. the fact is hes not what some people thing he has the potenial to be. what you see is what he is. his potenial is to be a average nba big man. the funny thing is he was below average while in europe before he got drafted also yet peopel still expect more then what hes capable of
yeah if you look at him real carefully, you always knew he would not be good. he wasnt even that good on his european team, something like 4 ppg and 2rpg but man he looked good in practice. this is why even if i pass on the next dirk(which he is the only relevant big man with a perimeter game from europe) i will never take an international bigman, period. they are always too soft. chris bosh is skinny, but i saw him do real well against more physical people at georgia tech. i always take the american born big man.
darko actually has skills to be an okay 4/5, i don't think he's physical enough to be a center but at a team like new york of course he has to be. Darko this year will average about 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks this year, and i think he will have those flashes as someone said earlier but if he was going to put his mind together with his skills it would have happened a long time ago. Me being a darko fan, wanting him to succeed, i have finally given up and I see he won't ever put it together, but I think he will do good enough in new york to earn a second contract. I mean even being as mediocre as he is, there aren't many 7 foot, 275 pound guys that can step out and make jumpers in rhythm, run the floor and block shots, and that will actually help the knicks this year. so this is in essence his last chance, even though I will never say never because orlando also should have been his last chance. He actually played well at Orlando with another big man, he was getting 8 rebounds,2 blocks, and 12 points in the games he played with Dwight.
This is just a plain and obvious statement and I think it needs to really be said.......
I think by now that it is safe to call Darko a HUGE BUST!!!
He has had plenty of time,6 years now and almost nothing to show for a 2nd overall pick! Not even a starter!
If he can get over 20 minutes he will come close to getting a double double with like12 pt and 9 boards with 2.5 blocks think about it New York does not have shot blockers and any tea, where david lee can board like Dwight Howard is going to have board there for the taking. Also in the fast pace the play a lot of Darko points will be like Lee's was dunks after a good pass after running the floor which he will do.
i just dont think hes good enough to do that.. even if he starts..hes so bad they will start hill or lee at center and harrington at foward if they wanna run up and dont most nights..thats how lil faith i have in him..and like someone said "its been 6 years" how much more time are some of ya'll gonna give him
