so, a.i ended up in memphis....
I'm reading..here and there.. that it looks like a.i may have to come off the bench.
I think it would be very wise to bring a.i off the bench. He's an instant scorer and demands the ball. Of the bench lineup for the grizzlies, only 1 other player will demand the ball a lot, and that's m.williams. Other bench players like young, carrol, thabeet, haddadi do not command the ball to be in their hands so much, so A.I off the bench would be a great thing.
Conely, mayo, gay, randolph and gasol as the starters. There have been many statements on this forum that the 1-4 position of the starting lineup are ball hogs. Keep saying what you must, but i'm here to say that they're a year smarter/improved now. I think mayo and gay will be alright with having the ball less in their hands because of conely's development. Conely could very well surprise everybody this year with his court vision and end up a playmaker. I see him averaging 12.4ppg, 3.8rpg, 6.8apg, 1.5spg. Mayo is the next player of the starters who demand the ball a lot. I think we're gonna see mayo pass a little more this year because he's been working on point guard skills all summer long. go find the article if you think i'm f*cking with you. Mayo also should be smarter this year at taking shots. With Gay's outstanding development, i doubt he's gonna need the ball in his hands all the time...and btw..it certainly didn't look like he was a ballhog in 08-09...and i watched the games...in case you didn't. I think randolph will find his place in the offense, he will get less shots on the grizzlies.
BACK TO A.I..... to place him in the starting lineup would disrupt many things. If you take conely and bench him, wtf happens to williams? SIGH...
I do not see him sitting behind Conley. I think the lineup IMO will be
I agree, but look how thrilled he was to come off the bench in Detroit. I don't think after sitting out the playoffs last year, he is willing to come off the bench on a young team.
it might not matter about what he wants. he signed a 1 year 3.5 mill deal...if he turns out to continue to be a lil pu$$, the grizzlies could trade him for a pick...doubting anyone would want him if he didn't even workout in memphis..ya know?
yeah, I hear you, I just don't like that signing or the Randolph move for the Grizz, I know they want some veteran experience for that promising young team, but I don't think you could have picked two worse guys to do so.
and if they couldn't find a way to trade him (if he turned out to be the same guy as last year) the grizz could simply release him and let 3.5 million count against them on the books for the rest of the year.
noone wanted him in FA...why trade for him?
i really wish they hadn't gone for randolph or a.i.....DAVID LEE..millsap....BIG BABY....the grizzlies could have signed any of those 3 who wanted a nice contract...the funny thing is...they're each a 4...and young...and talented...
he could be trade bait for expiring contracts, cap reliefe ya know?. remember next summer's free agent list?
I want it to work out. Don't get me wrong. If the Griz make the playoffs, they can make damage.
The problem for me is: Too much EGO. To me, if Iverson was the only big ego on the team, I have no problem with the move. The thing people are gonna look at is
-Mayo 2nd season
-Gay's 3rd season
-Who Starts? Gasol or Thabeet?
Adding Randolph and Iverson make it scary for me....I dunno.
Yea, I guess your right. He can be a good trade for 3 mil.
i don't see memphis making the playoffs. conely hasn't had any chemistry problems. mayo and gay haven't either. Gasol will obviously start...simply because he has offense and plays average defense...he's done something with his life, 1 nba year under his belt with impressive rookie averages, he was on spain when they beat team usa.
the ego problem can only rest on a.i. I wish it'd work out too, i'm not arguing with ya man, i just don't want to see conely a bench player...which would make williams a 3rd pg.
"distrupt many things"??? lololololz like what? losing...not making the playoffs...not having many fans. That's just too funny to me, that you think a hall of famer "distrupts" what was a poor excuse for a team.
1. Conley is here because of Greg Oden
2. OJ Mayo as it stands is nothing but an undersized shooting guard, not elite
3. Rudy is merely an under achiever
4. Marc Gasol is the other Gasol
Try letting Iverson start...try anything!!!!!!
This team didnt make any of the right moves. They have 4 players that are trying to prove their 1st options, and their are not enough shots for all of them. A.I. would be best served to come off the bench, I wouldnt stunt Conley's development by giving up on him for a declining A.I.
I just hope Mayo gets pissed off and traded to the Clippers :)
