karl malone

do you think karl malone is underated? I know he never won a champonship, but thats only because of MJ, but my god look at his numbers. 2nd all time leading scorer. I think u have to consider him a top 3 power forward of all time.

Thoughts...

I hear ya on the MJ comment.

I hear ya on the MJ comment. Some of the greatest players in NBA history didn't win a championship; Malone, Barkley, Stockton, Ewing (and Payton only won near the end of his career when he wasn't a great contributor) because they had the unfortunate timing to be around in Jordan's era of dominance. Hell if Jordan didn't retire the first time I doubt Olajuwon would've won his championships either (and Clyde Drexler along with him).

My top PF list

1. Tim Duncan
2. Karl Malone
3. Bob Petit
4. Charles Barkley
5. Elvin Hayes
6. Kevin Garnett
7. Jerry Lucas
8. Wes Unseld
9. Dave DeBusschere
10. Kevin McHale

Hakeem played center. And

Hakeem played center. And Malone is the number 2 pf behind Duncan. Malone was the real deal. He had zero weaknesses although his back to the basket game wasn't that great.

thank you for agreeing

i completeley agree that if MJ hadn't retired the first time then its highly unlikely that Hakeem would've gotten his 2 championships

Hard to say about MJ winning

Hard to say about MJ winning those titles while he was gone instead of Houston. That was the best Olajuwon had ever played and the Bulls never faced a great center in the finals. Houston played D and had clutch shooters like Kenny Smith, Sam Cassell, and Robert Horry. The second team also had Drexler. It is no gaurantee the Bulls would have won those titles.

eh, Mj and pippen would've

eh, Mj and pippen would've locked up those shooters and Drexler for that matter (remember the 92' finals). Yeah Hakeem was great and would've caused some problems for the Bulls, but if the Bulls had gotten Dennis Rodman by then and had Luc Longley then Hakeem's impact would not have been as great. It's close and the Rockets would have probably been the best team the Bulls would have to face in all their champiuonships but I'd still give the edge to MJ and Da Bulls
