If Orlando wins the Championship

If Orlando wins the championship does anyone here think there is even a slight possiblitiy that Vince Carter can make the Hall Of Fame? Why or Why not?

Yeah, his career is like

Yeah, his career is like missing something to solidy him as an HOFer (imo)
and a championship would seal his legacy, plus he'll probably go down in history as one of the greatest dunkers in the NBA

It depends

Is he the second leading scorer? If not...then i don't think so. He has to be a vital piece to them, like they need him. I hope it helps his cause though.

He doesn't have to be the

He doesn't have to be the 2nd leading scorer.........as long as he plays a role in their success

iono

He didn't win it as a first option and if he is like 3rd or 4th behind Rashard, Dwight, and Jameer...it isn't that impressive to me.

I agree with MagikKnick. He

I agree with MagikKnick. He will go down as one of the greatest dunkers in the NBA and a underrated clutch player. I only wished he would have won at least one MVP award.

I dunno. Some great players

I dunno. Some great players had good careers and a ring and did not get in. I also agree with Rubio, if your like a 3rd-4th option...he wont get in.

But if he makes himself the 2nd option...Maybe

I think VC is a 1st or 2nd

I think VC is a 1st or 2nd option guy. I don't see him being a 3rd or a 4th option on this team. Dwight and Jameer are good scorers, but I don't see them being over VC.

I do. I cannot think of any

I do. I cannot think of any team that went to the finals, added a player and he became the 2nd option.

I think it will be Howard-Lewis-Nelson-Carter.

if carter can stay healthy

if carter can stay healthy and put up some solid numbers for the next 3-4 seasons and win a title, he will be in I think. He exploded onto the scene in Toronto. Then he got lazy and had a poor attitude. Then he went to Jersey where he has really played better then people give him credit for I think.

I would love for VC to win

Vince Carter was my idol way back in Toronto... I think he gave Toronto an image for the 6 seasons he played there... I just think his heart was missing into it as he got older... Imagine if he has Kobe's desire... He would definitely lead the NJN/Raptors to a championship, given his talented supporting casts back then... He has a shot to be an HOF but he's going to have to prove it again...

If VC Is Not The First Option..

The He WILL Be The Second Option.

He is the best scorer on the team.

if he gets in. then tmac should get in. am i correct? but i do notice vince attitude has change since he got older. but like i said him and tmac had the talent to be one of the best but they never had the work ethic.

tough call on the hall of fame.

I think Vince at the end of the season will have a better resume. He doesn't have the scoring titles McGrady has, but he has 18,500 points to McGrady's 17,000 or so. If Carter stays healthy he will most likely hit 20,000 points this year. McGrady if he stays healthy would most likely need another year to do so. Carter hasn't been deep in the playoffs, but has been out of the first round 3 times(and he was very clutch at times in the playoffs while in NJ). McGrady has never been out of the 1st. You would have to say Orlando has a better chance of going deep in the playoffs this year. Vince Carter is an 8 time all-star McGrady has 7 all-star games. I think if either guy hits 20,000 points and wins a title even if they aren't the 1st or 2nd option they get in, but later down the line, no way they are first balloters. But, at the moment, you would have to give Carter the edge for getting in the HOF, in my opinion.

At first I

At first I didn't think so. But after looking more at his numbers and achievements, they are similar to Dominique Wilkins. Nique had a scoring title though and put up better scoring through out his career but his career scoring avg is only 1.5 more than Carter right now and his rebounding is 1 better. Carter career assists is 2 better than Nique though and FG% are close. It's just seems frustrating with Carter because as much as he has done, he could have done a lot more with his potential but he seemed satisfied putting up the numbers he has with out giving all his effort (at least that how it looks). But then again maybe the game came too easy to him that it just looked effortless.

I say he goes in. Is the second leading scorer next year with Orlando and puts up even better numbers in the playoffs like he usually does.

If Carter wouldn't have blown out his knee...

I always thought Carter was different after his knee injury. He seemed more content taking jumpers and lost some passion he played with early in his career. He is still an explosive finisher, which was a tribute to his athleticism, but I feel if he didn't hurt his knee his career would have been different. His third year in the league he was amazing, but I can't remember what exact year it was he blew out his knee, but it was his 4th or 5th season his game just changed.

I think the best career

I think the best career comparison for VC is Pierce. Both born in 1977, both came into the league in the same draft and both have similiar credentials;

VC
8 time all-star but never a first team All-NBA selection
23.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1.2 SPG, 44.7 FG%, 37.6 3P%, 79.6 FT %
Pierce
8 time all-star but never a first team All-NBA selection
22.9 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.6 SPG, 44.3 FG%, 36.6 3P%, 79.8 FT%

However right now Pierce has the edge for the HOF because he has a championship to his name (and a finals MVP to boot). I think VC needs to be a contributor for a championship team in order to get himself a spot in the HOF.
