Boston Celtics sign Marquis Daniels
what yall think ?
I think this is about half a day late! lol jk jk.
Good Addition, adds to their bench that is already good...so more Point Guard duties for Eddie House right?
I guess the Giddens and Walker picks were a waste....
QHaynes, I think those were probably two of my least favorite picks in that draft(mainly Giddens). Athletic, underachieving, shooting guards with holes in their games and character issues. They both have a little upside because of their athleticism, but there were still DeAndre Jordan, Mario Chalmers, Joey Dorsey, and Luc Mbuh a Moute, and CDR left on the board after Giddens. Walker was a safter pick at 47, so not so bad, but very similar to Giddens who they probably could have got in the 40's too if they didn't waste a first round pick on him.
I tought Boston would give Pruitt, Giddens & Walker PT this year to improve experience and depth while letting the Big 3 rest
I think that this move was ok, but kills these guys chances. Pruitt was cut so he was so far gone (Drizzy!)
yeah, I hear you, but I think both those guys need more time in the D-League, I don't think either one is a rotation NBA player right now. I think Daniels was a good pickup, He can flat out score at least
have i lost my mind? this deal happened about a month ago!
The deal was never completed. Supposedly Boston was trying to get Daniels more money by trying to do a sign and trade with Indiana. Nothing ever came of it. Why would it though? Boston got a good player for super cheap and Indiana had no reason to take back salaries or garbage players to let go of a guy that they weren't going to re-sign.
I don't think the Walker and Giddens picks were horrible. I think they probably thought that they have strong enough leaders to keep those guys in check, which I haven't heard of anything crazy from those two so far. Plus the guys were potentially going to be the fill ins for Allen and Peirce. It's just really hard to develop when you have all stars playing big minutes ahead of you and you have a championship team. I think Walker will be the better and the more useful of the two, but I think their future with the C's is going to end soon.
JoeWolf...I don't think any of the guys that you mentioned would be getting much time with the C's. DeAndre Jordan, Mario Chalmers, Joey Dorsey, and Luc Mbuh a Moute, and CDR...I think the only guys that might get any worthwhile time for them would be Luc and Chalmers. The rest would be riding the pine.
i dont know doubledribble c.d.r. could get some time on this squad , along with deandre
I know what you are saying double dribbler, but I'm a firm believer of drafting the best available players that late in the draft. If you go strictly for team needs that late you often end up pick up guys 15 or 20 picks before they would actually go. I wasn't saying any of those guys would be tearing it up, but Dorsey would help fill the void left by Poe this year. CDR plays the same position as Giddens, and In my opinion will be a better player in the long run. Jordan has trade value because he is a young center with upside. Its hard to pick up immediate contributers with the last pick of the 1st, but by drafting the best available players at least they have trade value if they don't fit in your system immediately.
This is very good move for the Celtics, especially considering they only paid the bi-annual exception. Daniels played for the Pacers last season, so I saw a lot of him. He had the best year of his career and was a starter while Dunleavy was injured. He'll be a very solid backup for Ray Allen. He's very versatile... He can handle the ball, create offense off the dribble, hit the open jumpshot and he can defend. I think he'll be a great fit.
Daniels is a good player who will be Boston's backup point guard/shooting guard. I remember him playing four years of point-guard at Auburn University. Also, by chance does anyone remember that game winning shot in the NCAA tournament when he dribbled atop of the key and shot the game-winning three-pointer a few years ago? Anyway, this is a good pick-up for Boston.
Dhamp...the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.
