Ed Davis--Jermaine O'Nea(in Indiana)
Derrick Favors--Amare Stoudemire
Xavier Henry--Paul Pierce(maybe poor man's) but I beleive in Xavier
Greg Monroe--bigger stronger Chris Bosh
and some others....
Renardo Sidney-bigger Chris Webber
Willie Warren-Ben Gordon

OOOOO

lalaila wins the Ed Davis comparison. I couldn't think of any comparison for him but Jermaine O'Neal is a great one.

imo

Ed Davis i've thought was similar to a young Kenyon Martin for a long time; however, I think Cole Aldrich is more of a right handed Raef LaFrentz with less range.

ed davis jermaine

ed davis jermaine oneal????..lol..now thats funny..ed davis has zero post moves and scores just off of being athletic...favors and josh smith is also wrong..favors is athletic but hes not on the level josh smith is or was in highschool nor is he the defensive player josh was...also someone made the comment of favors having more range..in highschool josh used to knock down 3's just as much on the regular as favors..once players get to college or the pros (that are big men) the coachs tend to make them shoot less threes because they really cant shoot threes that well...id have to say favors is like a taller less athletic domanique wilkens( compareable in that both has alright handles both athletic both jumpers arent the best but they can hit..neither was a dead set sf or pf

Agreed on Favors and Josh

Agreed on Favors and Josh Smith on some parts. I still think Josh Smith is the most atheltic player in the NBA.....however Josh Smith is a better weak side shot blocker while Favors is the better post defender and rebounder. Favors is a PF all the way and is jumper is ALOT BETTER THAN YOU GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR QUINCY. Both are OK ball handlers.

yeah jumpers always look

yeah jumpers always look alot better in highschool when you are being checked by players alot smaller or less athletic..im just going by the games i saw and how every scouting report says his jumper isnt that great. alot of fans just go by the all star games which is a bad way to scout a player. as far as defense it really isnt that good because of the fact half the time he doesnt try to hard to play it. thats another aspect ill wait to judge him on because most of the guys hes checking in highschool are high or even midmajor d1 players. thats the main reason i dont say too much one way or the other about highschool players because i like to see what they do against good competition and against players closer to there ability before i judge them. i made that mistake with dan gadzuric. watched him in highschool and swore he was gonna be the next shaq because he was dunking all over other highschoolers

True but that doesn't mean

True but that doesn't mean that Favors jumper isn't good or won't turn out to be good. I agree determining if a player is good or not by an all star game is pointless but I've seen Favors play a lot and his jumper is legit. I saw him play a few times his Sophomore and Junior year and his jumper wasn't very good and that's where the scouting report comes in about his jumper not being very good. But he really worked at it during last summer and it improved so much. I think KG is the best comparison for him.

he doesnt remind me of kg in

he doesnt remind me of kg in any sense to be honest..i watched ( and played in aau against kg) and though i believe favors will be good kg was on another level and at that time there were better big men that he dominated against. the best big man i seen favors play was cousins who is very very lazy on defense and only plays when he feels like it. favors also goes through spells where he just coast during the game and he relys mostly on his athletic ability to score..kg relied on that too but he also had a bunch of post moves as well..plus he was longer and taller and had alot more fire in him

Who did KG dominate in high

Who did KG dominate in high school? I've seen Favors dominate Cousins twice, John Henson, Renardo Sidney, Mason Plumlee, BJ Mullins and saw him dunk on Michael Beasley as a 14 year old. He also held his own against him. What other big men could he have dominated? I just think they're both athletic, great rebounders and shot blockers, good scores around the basket and can pop out and shoot that mid range jumper. How tall and long was KG in high school? I seriously doubt their are many people in the world longer than Favors. He's 6'10 has a 7'6 inch wing span and a 9'1 reach which is amazing. He's also young for his age and probably still growing and has already put on 15 pounds since he's been at Tech. I agree and would like to see Favors play with more fire though.

i havent found one scout who

i havent found one scout who compares him to kg. as far as the guys you named..cousins plas no d as well as sidney. actually no player up there is know for any type of defense and dunking on someone doesnt count for anything in my book( any one can be dunked on by someone who can dunk). kg was 6'11..not sure about his legnth but he was long...not sure abotu favors legnth which most arent because he didnt go through the combine..all aother measurements before that arent official

nba scouts take

For one, he never boxes out. This is understandable considering that he doesn’t have to at this level, but in the ACC that will have to change. Additionally, there were instances when he threw great outlets and other times where he rushed it and turned the ball over. Lastly, after an unbelievable first half on the boards, Favors disappeared a bit in the 3rd quarter, largely due to fatigue. He did reawake on the boards in the 4th – but not nearly at the same pace. When he can learn how to maintain his energy level for a full game, his rebounding statistics as well as other statistics will be off the charts.

His offensive game right now is still raw, but he’s definitely improving as he showed a willingness to try new moves. He attempted a few spins in the post, or face-up drives off an inside pivot, but seemed uncomfortable as he was stripped or tied up on several occasions. Other times he showed a nice looking face-up 15 foot jump shot with good mechanics, although right now it’s a bit flat, or quick drop steps for jump hooks over his left shoulder. His biggest problem was how fast he was going. He would catch and try to beat the double team so quickly that he would force the action, leading to bad misses or turnovers. When he can learn to be patient and use ball fakes his success rate will increase. Furthermore, he will need to develop more advanced moves, drop steps and up and unders together with better footwork will serve him well

as far as who garnett played against Shareef Abdur-Rahim,Raef LaFrentz,Jermaine O'Neal,Tim Thomas, robert traylor, antwan jamison, danny fortson, antwon walker ,lorenzen wright, lester earl ,charles hataway, loren woods, wilferd walton...though some didnt become great or even very good nba players( just like alot of the big men in favors year wont produce) these guys were tough in highschool and alot were real big men..and since the big men favors played against arent in the nba yet and are just potenial we have to compare both on how good they were in high school

and defensivly they arent even close to being compareable

ok come on..derrick favors

ok come on..derrick favors is good and ive scouted him many times( i work for hoopscooponline) but in no way is he in kgs class. favors is pretty long and very athletic... the josh smith comparisions are pretty close although josh is more athletic. the reason every scouting service compares him to josh is that both could hit a jumper or drive and also dunk on people. neither could do any of thoses things (other then dunk) with alot of consistance and both were alwas the most athletic guy on the floor. neither had real post moves and both were pretty raw offensively, they both scored mainly off of there atletic ability. neither really had to learn post moves because at 6'9 220 and above they rarely ran into a guy there size or with there athletic ability. both have the potenial to be great (though josh widow is closing) because they already have the pure athletisim they just need to work on the fundamentals. the bad thing about players like this is they most times tend to be content with scoring purely with athletisim and dont work at the other things, which is what makes kg so great..he always had that work ethic and even in highschool he worked on the post moves and the fundamental. in most cases( like 90percent and above) most guys with that athletic ability dont work real hard at getting better at the fundamentals. its the same case with a player whos always been lazy but people( mostly fans) think ok once they get to college they are gonna get that fire, but that fire is either with you or its not, you dont just all of a sudden get that fire. this is the main reason scouting services list favors to be compared to josh, yes hes gotten better since he came on the scene but his fundamantals havnt gotten any better like they should have

Ok so you saw Kevin Garnett out of high school? Their not even on the same level out of high school....I SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT. I am not saying that Favors will even be as good as Garnett was in the NBA that's just who he reminds me of. Ok what player coming out of high school doesn't have things to work on? I bet you can't name one person and I'm sure Garnett had weaknesses Favors is not lazy at all and I am 100% not worried that he won't come into college with a big head.

In High school

Kevin Garnett 6'11 220 averaged 25 points 18 rebounds 6.5 blocks SENIOR STATS
McDonald All American MVP, National high school player of the year by USA today

Derrick Favors 6'10 230 averaged 23 points 17 rebounds 9 blocks JUNIOR STATS
28 points 13 rebounds 5 blocks
McDonald All American MVP, National high school player of the year by USA today

Pretty similar not to mention that Garnett was over a year older than Derrick Favors at the same stage in there high school career. You definitely have to take that into consideration.

Derrick Favors and Josh Smith is a HORRIBLE COMPARISON. I've seen both and their totally different other than they both block and dunk a lot.

Derrick Favors actually

Derrick Favors actually reminds me of a more explosive Michael Beasley. Neither has too many post moves, and they both finish around the basket by sealing in deep in the post with their strength. Favors does dunk around the basket way more than Beasley and he's a presence defensively which Beasley isnt, but they are very similar on the offensive end of the floor in terms of attributes and their ways of scoring down low. I honestly believe FAVORS will have a Mike Beasley type impact this yr.

Ed Davis plays like Antonio MyDyess before his injuries to me, and if he develops more he could have that level of success in the NBA.

Avery Bradley reminds me of Russell Westbrook more than anything.

Cole Aldrich reminds me of Joe Smith, with less offensive talent and slightly better defense.

I like your comparisons on everythig else though.

Aldrich

My favorite comparison for Cole Aldrich is Chris Kaman.

And Iggy, I also think Beasley will have a Beasley type of impact this season.

Yes

Favors/Smith is not a good comparison. I have always likened Favors to Alonzo Mourning. A lot of people don't understand the comparison, but they both play the same way.

Josh Smith is way more quick

Josh Smith is way more quick and agile then Favors he also has way more hangtime, he's just an overall better athlete.
I would compare Favors to Shawn Kemp.

the only way hes kinda like

the only way hes kinda like beasley is scoring downlow(beasley has more post moves and scores that way then athletically)..thats it..he doesnt have the midrange nor long range jumper that beasley has nor does he have the moves beasley has...i cant and wont say hes a better defender since hes guarding other highschool kids so theres no way you can say hes a better defender untill he plays some college ball against players closer to his height weight athletic ability..some of ya'll really kill me when you compare some highschool player who dominates players 5 inches shorter 30 pounds lighter and most of whom wont even be playing d1 basketball or any other basketball after highschool.heres a idea, how about we wait for them to prove it against better competition before we say they are better then certain nba or even college players..i know crazy right

I like the sites comparison

I like the sites comparison for Davis, a less aggressive poor man's Amare.
