One or None..........Rondo

One or None..........Rondo is their only piece to build around. If they don't win this year they should see what they can get for Allen, KG, and Pierce

I think its this year or

I think its this year or nothing for Boston. The only truly promising young guy on their squad (Rondo) has almost been pushed out the door by management, and the rest of that team will have to be completely rebuilt by at most 2011. It may be hard for Boston to keep Rondo after the things that have leaked about him to the public, but if they do they'll at least have one piece that can be a building block for the future.

i dont post much on here but

i dont post much on here but if i here something thats ignorant i have 2 say something. sayin the celtics wont be a factor this year is prolly the dumbest statement ive heard regarding the nba in a while. they took the eastern conference champs to game 7 without the best and most important player. as 2 how long the can compete. im not sure. i think this year 4 sure and maybe one after that but they would need another peice 4 that

I give them 2 years before

I give them 2 years before some long and hard rebuilding years unless they shake some thing up after this next year.

Perkins is a player that

Perkins is a player that should be kept around, but he is not a starter on a team thats looking to build for another championship. He's also not promising, he is a defender and rebounder and he doesnt look like he'll ever be much more. He isnt a building block.

iggy

you right "building block" probably is an overstatement, but as a 25 year old true center that is among the best defensive players at his position in the league I do think that he is a solid starter on a championship level team for the next 3-4 years, especially a team that places an emphasis on playing good team defence.

I'm guessing they have two

I'm guessing they have two more years left to compete for a title.

2 Years

I think they have at least two more years. I am still trying to figure out why anyone would say they have no chance. They had the best or 2nd best record in the league before KG got hurt. They pushed Orlando without their best player. Their young guys, Rondo, Davis and Perkins played well throughout the playoffs. In my opinion, they now have the 3 guys that guard Dwight Howard the best in the league.

I am curious to see what happens with Ray Allen and their guys with expiring deals. At one time I had heard he was wanting to get an extension done with the Celtics, but they did not want to deal with it until after the season. I think Allen becomes very expendable after this year, especially if he isn't willing to take a large pay cut. I'm thinking that the expiring contracts will probably be used this year to add a solid rotation player.I think the only thing that would keep the Celtics from having a longer run of contending is that they are going to cash in every expiring contract and do whatever it takes to win in these next couple of years. Meaning that they probably won't have many draft picks or young players to develop over this time.

I agree with what both

I agree with what both Dhoward and you (doubledribbler) are saying about their contracts:

Ray Allen is expendable if he doesnt take a big pay cut, like a REAL big paycut. And there expiring contracts in 2010 and 2011 will make rebuilding alot easier than most people think when they look like they are getting too old. Danny Ainge really did an amazing job of landscaping the pickups he made a couple of years ago. It was productive in terms of finance and personnel.

What I find funny is that

What I find funny is that before those trades for KG and Ray Allen, Ainge and Rivers were both on the hot seat. Funny how much better of a coach or GM you become immediately after adding a couple all-stars.

Yea, that move was great

Yea, those moves were great though. I was wondering why they didnt get rid of them before the trades took place as well. But now, you cant think about that because he's making the right moves now. Rivers wasnt going to get a team that had Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, and Ryan Gomes to the playoffs. The only truly good player that they were building with was Al Jefferson, and he wasnt nearly as good then as he is now.

This is their last year to

This is their last year to make a run...Can't complain about that though, they made these moves to win a championship and they did just that

they have two more solid

they have two more solid years. they'll be competing in three years but they wont be as good as they are now. they will DEFINITELY be competing this year and its crazy not to think they will. People are forgetting how good they were before KG got hurt. They didnt have their leader and they were a good team still. They are getting KG back and adding Rasheed wallace who isnt going to be a difference maker but rather a solid contributor. People are counting off the celtics this year but there is absolutely no reason too
