personally, I think the grizz shouldn't sign A.I
Am I crazy for thinking this? I would much rather see the grizzlies continue to mesh their young talented core. I would like to see them go through the hardships together. They already signed a player that may or may not disrupt their youth's development (randolph).
A.I doesn't need to go to the grizz. Charolette needs some scoring. Hell, I'm sure there are many teams who would take A.I for a year.
bench - Williams, young, carrol, arthur, thabeet, hadaddi.
Between conely, mayo, gay and randolph...and williams off the bench...they will all need the ball. I'm not one to call iverson a poor playmaker, but he demands the ball in his hands...the grizzlies don't need that on this team.
Just keep to what you have grizzlies, gel together, grow together, get better together.
Yeah, i think that would be horrible
Too many scorers and only 1 ball
Your not crazy for thinking this but It would at least give them a player that the other team has to be aware of at all times and that opens up opportunities for Gay and Mayo , and A.I can give them a scoring threat on any given night........still there a boarderline playoff team
they can really add a great PF in next years draft ..........adding Favors, or Monroe, ect would make them truly a dominant team in the future
the grizz needs a.i. he would show them young boys espcially gay and mayo how to takeover games, play with heart, he would help sell tickets, he could even make them more competive. i know he has problems in the past(chemistry, late to pratices, messing up good squads)but i think a.i wants to prove us that he can make a team better with not just scoring, but i like before with heart, dedication .
the grizzlies ticket sales were 15% up pre-draft when fans knew they were going to get the 2nd pick. Imagine what they are now? Personally, i think the grizzlies will do much better in ticket sales when the fans actually see this team growing up.
you can think the team would be more competitive, but it would hurt conely/mayo/gay's development when A.I would want the ball in his hands when he's on the court. The only thing a.i could teach these youngsters is driving ability and possibly making poor decisions. mayo's no longer a rookie, conely is starting his 3rd year, gay in his 4th. so they should each be making better decisions on the court. they don't need A.I to learn what they'll learn as a team.
Is Iverson going to help the team win a championship? NO
Is Iverson going to lead the team to the playoffs? NO
So what is the point? I don't see one.
Grizzlies just need to save cash now. Just wait till next years' free agent market. If they spend money it should've been on a young player that can grow with Mayo & Gay.
No big name FA would sign with the Griz, they needa wait till the crazy 2010 draft
The only reason I could see Iverson going to Memphis is because of ticket sales, like thetruth said. Did anybody see their crowd during home games last year? It was downright depressing. I wouldn't be surprised if they were dead last in attendance last year. Memphis doesn't need Iverson, they need their young core to continue to improve.
I'm a bit concerned about Gay. He's one of the most athletic players in the league, but he plays so soft. He needs to start taking it to the hoop more often and drawing more fouls. Mayo can dominate when his jumper's falling, but he struggles to score when it's not. He's a little trigger happy, but he was also a rookie. I really like Conley's game, he's very fast and unselfish. He struggled mightily with his jumper during the first half of the season, but really picked it up after the all-star break. If he can pick up where he left off, then he's going to have a very good year.
Oj can average 20 and he wants the ball in his hand gay has average 20 in a season and u throw iverson in it wont work all of them want the ball in their hands grizzlies dosent need another scorer they need a consistent inside presence.
the kings were deadlast. memphis was 2nd last.
