I’m a star but on the bench: Haddadi
TEHRAN, Aug. 25 (MNA) -- Iranian international Hamed Haddadi says he is a star of the Memphis Grizzlies but the NBA team leaves him on the bench and off the court most of the time.
“Grizzlies’ officials don’t let me show my abilities. I have done my best every time I was called up to play for my team, but I don’t know why they don’t trust me,” added Haddadi, who was the first Iranian basketball player to make it to the NBA.

“I want to play regularly for the Grizzlies; nevertheless I will have to change my team now since I am a star of the team but sitting on the bench,” he told the Mehr News Agency in an interview at the MNA offices on Monday.

The 7-foot-2 player helped Iran win the 25th FIBA Asia Championship for men two weeks ago. Haddadi, who scored 31 points in Iran’s final triumph two years ago, was once again the leading scorer for his side in the final with 19 points against China.

“I could not do my best against Jordan but played well against China in the final. We could have won the match even if Yao Ming would have played against us,” he added.

I like this guy and if he

I like this guy and if he can score 31 points in a international game that proves he has some skill for a 7"2 Guy. He is coming off cocky but i think he is just trying to ask for some playing time.

Hes a star in his country,

Hes a star in his country, so it makes sense...

In his country hes bigger then Kobe, Jordan, Shaq, and Lebron
and that much hype in a certain area may get you confused and get you to feel that your a star everywhere you go...which is not the case with Haddadi

The guy was playing behind

The guy was playing behind Darko. If he's as good as he says he is, then he could've taken some minutes away from him.

Pfffffffftttttt

Look Haddadi... You can kiss my butt before I tell anyone listening that you're a star... You can't even dominate in the D-League much more in the Big League... You play well on international grounds because you are relied heavily by your other teammates in Iran... You dominate the paint, score the ball and be a post threat only in FIBA... You smell like dung at the end of the bench with the Grizz

I've seen him play internationally

I've seen him play in the FIBA-Asia and he is a bully... He bullied the smaller teams like the Philippines (who needs to add more size in order for them to be competent once again), Chinese-Taipei and other asian teams... He just takes advantage of his 7'2 frame... I would rather prefer Jackson Vroman (Lebanon) than this cocky lunatic... If he faces the likes of Shaq or Dwight, even Pau Gasol... He will cry like a baby...

thank you for mentioning the Philippines. i'm from the Phil. and I can see we competed well in the FIBA Asia. we just lack size to battle the likes of Haddadi, Ha Seung Jin, and Vroman. our tallest player is 6'9", Japeth Aguilar from WKU, (teammate of C. Lee) and he's pretty raw. thanks for mentioning anyway. i still wait for a Filipino to play in the NBA.

I've probably seen like 3

I've probably seen like 3 minutes of him play, so without seeing more, it would be dumb for me to criticize or agree with his statements.

Well he didn't actually say

Well he didn't actually say he was a star so can't call him cocky. He's just saying he thinks that if he was given the opportunity he can help the Grizzlies. You know these newspapers love adding their own 2 cents

“I want to play regularly for the Grizzlies; nevertheless I will have to change my team now since I am a star of the team but sitting on the bench,” he told the Mehr News Agency in an interview at the MNA offices on Monday.

Haddadi was poorly

Haddadi was poorly misquoted. If you are willing follow one link that claims him to be arrogant then the link I post must hold the same credibility. We all know that translation isn't always accurate, and even if the interview was done in English (which is doubt) it'd be hard to believe that his English is even comparable to someone like Yao or even Yi.

Here is an alternative view on the story; it accounts for the misquoted articles and explains what the Iranian star truly meant:

fit

He'd be great fit in Miami. The way the phrase would seem to be cocky, but he is just wanting playing time and I truly think he's an ok center.
