I Never Got The Idea Of Terroitorial Draft

If the jim jackson rule was still their i think kobe would have went back to college....

I still believe the worst team should get the 1st pick......but the rest should have a lottery

territorial picks were dumb.

territorial picks were dumb. That was back when the league cared more about getting fans then being fair.

worst team should not get the first pick because it will reward losing and tanking seasons. I hate when the worst team complains after not getting th efirst pick, how about they try learning to run their franchise.

I do not think players should be going back to school after they get drafted.

If you just end up with a

If you just end up with a losing season doesn't mean you will end up with a star.......A team changer. Even if a GM tried to pull that off he would be fired before the 3rd season or so. No one would like to lose that long. The process is longer then you think .

territorial picks

were unfair. it rewarded teams just for being close to someones hometown or college.

i like the lottery only because its funny when teams really suck and end up with the 4th pick and a team with only 2 teams better than them in their conference end up with the 1st pick. however it is unfair for a crappy team to get a lesser pick than a good team.

i think players should not be able to go back to college because i think it dissapoints when your number one pick decides he isnt ready at the last moment. thats how i felt about rubio and the guy who the knicks drafted the european dude in '99.

My opinion on my what

My opinion on my what ifs

Territorial Picks- I think it was unfair but now...I wonder what if would do. I mean, Like what would it do with players in college? I mean think about it. Would you use your college or HS? I mean, it they brought it back today, It would be intriguing.

The Jim Jackson Rule- I think this should not come back. I think if you get undrafted now, you can come back to college. Randolph Morris did.

Worst Team gets 1st pick- Bring it back but make a rule, no team can get back to back #1 picks.

What if the NBA had no rookie cap?

territorial picks were

territorial picks were unfair because they allowed teams to use their first round pick on any local product before teams with higher picks got a chance to draft him. It would be like if the Thunder just said before the draft that they wanted Blake Griffin or the Lakers wanted Derozan. This was designed to help with fan interest because the league was still young and they figured fans would be more likely to show up if they could watch and cheer for local stars. But clearly this would be an unfair practice today.

I kinda explained the worst team getting the first pick in my initial post. i just think by shaking up the top 3 picks, teams would be less likely to tank seasons later in the year when it is obvious they are missing the playoffs. Of course some teams still do it to improve their odds, but it does'nt have an automatic direct effect of where they pick. Two bad teams with similar records throwing the game in order to pick first is a no win situation for the fans who pay to show up.

As for guys not going back to college after they are drafted, first, I think it is bad for colleges to have players who already have a million dollar contract on the table while they are in school. This will give them a sense of entitlement over the coaches and their teammates and university. It also does'nt benefit the league by having teams commit to drafting a kid and having him go play in college where he can get hurt and not be around the team and learnig from their coaches and trainers.

I like the lotto even though

I like the lotto even though sometimes you wonder if it is rigged but if i was the best player and my team sucked year after year I would not want to know automatically i would have to go there. I liked that Rose went to Chicago even though they did not have the worse pick. I wish Wade would join Rose. I like what OKC is doing. They have yet to have a first round pick but they are drafting well and making smart moves. I like what Portland did even though Oden has been hurt when he is health and they get a young point to learn from Andre Miller. Wow. Bayless is not the answer. Bayless is still a good player but is not a good fit for Portland.

Territorial Picks- i agree

Territorial Picks- i agree that i is unfair

The Jim Jackson Rule- I think im alone on this but i think they should bring it back so a player can develop in school and then come to a team that drafted him a year earlier, a great example of this is Larry Bird. but to avoid a Rubio type senerio they could make it so the team and player agreed on if the player would stay, this could happen before they were drafted or even maybe after

Worst Team gets 1st pick- I like the lottery the worst team still gets a good pick, and avoids teams throwing games

Rookie Cap- i dont like it, rookies are NBA players so i think they should be able to sign the same contacts that other players get

kid canada~ im just reading

kid canada~ im just reading the bald truth... it's by david falk, MJ's agent (and others). google juwon howard's rookie contract. that's why they can't let rookies negotiate deals. I think it's ridiculous that in the NFL players that have never played a game in the league can get like 60 million dollar contracts....

I'd hate to see that come back in the NBA. At least ppl have to earn their first big contract. The other problem with doing that in the NBA is that most contracts are (almost) fully guaranteed, unlike in the NFL, so if NBA teams had to throw that kind of money at rookies, they would be locked in for the length of the contract...and in financial hell for the next couple years. in football the only guaranteed portion is the signing bonus.

Territorial Picks real dumb

I am so glad that they got rid of territorial picks that was a retarded rule the best teams kept adding the best players. I dont think the jim jackson rule is so bad they do it in baseball. I like the lottery the way it is you should'nt always get rewarded for being the worst team because you see it all the time at the end of the year temas holding out players to lose on purpose to try and get the 1st pick I like that its not guaranteed like when the bulls got D. Rose very unexpected just like it should be.
