Lebron, the most potential ever?
hard to judge most potential ever. But with his size and athleticism for a sf, he can become the best ever. his ball handling, post game and shooting touch all have some work to go before they are on par with the likes of Jordan and Kobe though.
more likely a player who turned out to be a bust.
Maybe Ralph Sampson IMO. I mean, you gotta really find guys. Back in the day, potential was not really used.
Maybe Connie Hawkins, Dennis Hopson
you could argue shaq as most potential ever. He was absoulutely dominating the league when he was in his prime. If he had just did a better job staying in shape, he could have had a much more impressive career.
you know who had a ton of potential, tyson chandler. He was being called better then Garnett when he was a junior and sophomore. 60 minutes did a one hour special on him before he had ever played in a single highschool game. I played against him his junior year, and he was already 7 feet tall and nba scouts were everywhere.
as for lebron slimming down, he might need to in a few years. carrying 265 or whatever is one thing when you are 24, but as 30 approaches, it could take it's toll. At 30, guys like jordan and kobe have had to change their games to make it easier on themselves since they could'nt just blow by people on every play anymore.
yea, I mean Lebron had one knock on him coming out of HS. I think he cannot be high on the list of top guys with potential.
I mean, He would be in the top 15 but to me, you have to look at more guys who did not pan out to truly know.
I agree with Qhaynes he hit his peak.......he honestly going to be the same for a few years. Lebron Can hit new heights but his potential is reached.
Potential is for players that aren't stars but could be stars ........It Doesn't really measure anything after you have hit your peak
pretty much. His highschool is an annual powerhouse. they also produced tayshaun prince. but when we played them, we lost by 20, which was'nt as bad as they were beating evryone else by like 30-40. He was just too tall. We had a 6-8 guy who played at usc, but after that, i was the next tallest at 6-4. He pretty much just dunked whenever he wanted, but did'nt really show a lot of overall skill. Honestly, playing in highschool might have hurt his development a little. Big men in europe are able to better refine their skills against older and bigger competition growing up.
I think Lebron was dumb to get any bigger after his rookie year, he was a PERFECT specimen. His form got uglier which i hate, and he could have still overpowered other SF's at 240, and he was a much better size, he could slow down in 3-5 yrs.
good point on lebron's form. i actually thought he had better form coming out of highschool. Now he is so big that he has his elbows out wide and it just does'nt look all that good.
Lebronn has a mediocre shot and his size and athleticism will die out.......he is having a great prime but will just eventual not handle the nba after 30. He will be slower and worse mark my words.
If he doesn't slim down, his career will be short

his shot was sexy in H.S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6AEhs-9rH0
how can you not say lebron doesn't have the most potential ever, a 6'9" 272 pound small forward, who has guard traits,is a triple double machine, someone mentioned his post game, what if he did get a post game and a more consistent jumper, and actually became smarter and learned how to use it. I mean when thinking of potential, my definition would be if he puts everything together, brain and skills with athleticism....who else could do what he does and his game isn't fully developed?
lebron james will be the best player in nba history he is magic johnson and michael jordan mixed into 1 he can score 50 or get a triple double any night name 1 player who can do that!!!!!!
7 years down, no championships.
Overall, he is not in the top 40 for me right now. Potentally down the line, he will be like Kobe in the top 10 but not the top player ever
I think he is a top 5 player of all time right now. But as far as accomplishments go, he still has work to do wich hurts his ranking. But not even top 40 is kinda silly. It's not his fault he has not been on the most talented team in any given year. It's not like Jabbar, Magic, jordan, bird, etc..were winning titles all by themselves. Just take the title part out of it and ask yourself if lebron is one of the top 5 or 10 greatest players ever. I think so. Put him on a court with Bird, magic, or the big O and tell me who is the best player on the court?
he has unlimited potential but i question his want to be better he doesnt have a in the face of his teammates attitude where he will be mad at you if you do something wrong like Kobe or Jordan. i also question if he cares about money more than winning greats would go winning first and money would be second but if he goes to New York i would question his want to win. to be honest i dont think he will be as goo as Jordan but he will still be one of the most dominant players ever but i dont know if he will ever be the leader of some of the greats, liike Kobe, Jordan, Bird, and Magic, he doesnt push his teammates like some of the greats did and thats why i question him beig in the same teir as the greats.
I think he does, he wants to win. Cleveland front office is so scared of losing him they wont commit to getting good players (which they cannot get anyway)
He has the will to win IMO after the Pistons game where he had like 25 points in OT. He wants to win a title and thats the only reason why he is considering leaving.
i know sometimes he does but its inconsistant, he will work magic, but he will also have bad games to me hes to easy going to ever be as good and have the same leadership as Kobe, or Jordan.
Well, Kobe and MJ had bad games.
He is not a big yelling leader, he is a lead by example guy. Those guys work in the NBA, Lebron will be a top 10-top 15 all time but dont question it: he wants to win and he is a leader.
If your gonna say that then there are not alot of leaders in the NBA, which i think is wrong.
qhaynes20 you do know that jordan didn't when a championship until his 7th year?
those teams had more than jordan and pippen, the bulls built there team perfectly around the 2, hard nosed, defensive power forwards in horace grant, dennis rodman or even charles oakley, and knockdown shooters at the point in steve kerr and paxson, and they always kept two point guards where the other could do what the other couldn't such as ron harper and bj armstrong. and a tall center to take up space who could hit a 15 foot jumper, wennington, longley, carthwright.
cleveland is trying to build a team, not two players.

Does Lebron James have the most potential of any NBA player ever?
