top 10 reasons why LBJ is coming to NY
Its currently in the place called "If we dont win this year, I'm getting the .... outta here."
The reason we Knicks fans talk about it is because we gotta special bond with Lebron. Him wearing the Yankees cap in the New York-Cleveland series, him coming out with his special Yankee Pinstripe Custom Lebrons and Big Apple Custom Lebrons, his reverence of Madison Square Garden and the mecca, chants of MVP, he seems like he want to be that guy. This is a team with young talent and large contracts coming of the books, and the Knicks will offer him everything. The question is whether the allure of the city is what he wants, because he'll find 8+ million witnesses lining Broadway and Lexington. He'll have his ads in Time Square. He would run the City.
The Cavs were easily the best regular season team with great defense and a team that played well together. However, once the playoffs rolled around, Lebron was left to carry all his teammates dead weight. They could not score if their franchise depended on it, and every miss of a great pass from Lebron hurt him more and more. You could tell from his actions and words that he felt he did everything in his power to win, and if he had some support they could have won. Anthony Parker isnt as good as his sister, and is really a taller Delonte West. Moon can defend and jump. Shaq is old, and is very non committal about what he thinks Lebron plans are. If David Lee was so make-or-break for the Knicks getting Lebron, why didnt the Cavs sight him?
The fact of the matter is the New York City is better than Cleveland. Lebron knows he could probably be a partial owner if he wanted, but he fears the back lash from his hometown. So I see him playing as hard as he can, again, and if they dont even make the finals, he's gone. He made it to the second round 3 years ago so imrovement is necessary, and while his game continues to improve, the team doesnt. It doesnt help that the Cavs have drafted horribly in 2004, when they could have had Biedrins, Al Jefferson, Josh Smith, JR Smith, Kevin Martin, or Jameer Nelson and they pick.... Luke Jackson?
I
The nets have Devin Harris and Brook Lopez and a plethora of wings with similar skill sets. Yi is the big question mark. Can he show the improvement necessary to make up for the loss of their best player? I dont think so.
PLus, Lebron has seen madison square garden at its best, with some of the rowdiest fans in the NBA when the team is good. When the Knicks were in the playoffs, every series was epic, whether it was the bulls, heat or pacers, theres something very special about MSG, and I think Lebron knows and feels it.
Lebron might go to Chicago because yjey have cap their and their young talented team in a big city (by the way i hate the Cavs more than i do the KNicks i ddont hate the Knicks).
Chicago has a hard time pulling in big names for some reason, as a Bulls fan i have watched them try ever since the rebuilding years after they disbanded the late 90's Dynasty. TMac, Kobe, Garnett were all went after in free agency, but for some reason, Chicago couldn't pull them in, I don't know if its Jordan's shadow or just poor front office moves, but I SERIOUSLY doubt LeBron will wind up in Chicago.
Theres are reason MSG is called the World's Most Famous Arena... And Spencer... Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
On a more analytical note, lets get one thing clear. Lebron knows the opportunity he has in 2010. He's going weigh his options and he will have a lot of huge offers. the thing is only the Lakers can match what NY will shell out. Multi billion dollar stadiums are being put up, the Yankees continue to out spend, and the fan base is desprate for something to believe in, and with his "We are all Witnesses" slogan why wouldnt he go to a place with at least 10 Million worshipers ready to bow to the King? Why wouldnt he go to the Mecca of Basketball? D'Antoni would play him at point guard and watch him operate with a smile. If you can be the Toast of the Town why not pick the best town in the world?
When Lebron James signs with the Knicks I will create a forum topic where all you haters can formally apologize...
We have Wilson Chandler who was good last season and is a solid defender who can play the 2 or the 3
Danillo Gallonari can be a 20ppg guy in the NBA (And I'm not the only one saying that)
Jordan Hill can be solid
David Lee is a top 5 Rebounder in the NBA
Nate is one of the top 6 men in the NBA
Plus, If LBJ signs in 2010. The Knicks can add a player in 2011 if they trade Curry's expiring contract or let him walk.
none of those players are sure things. Nate, and Lee have a good chance of leaving. Gallonari could be good but he didnt dominate last year so im not sure hes ready to take the staep. i ageww Hill will be good but hes a rookie, the Nets have two proven stars in Haris and Lopez.
lol..so wait thats youre reason?.. because he wore a yankee cap and likes the yankees?( alot of athletes like the yankees) and because he called newyork the mecca which is what all the players call new york and that he wants to win ( thats the funniest since the players they have in place even with lebron would struggle to even get to the second round as well as mike d'antono has proved his no defense approach doesnt even get you to the championship even when he has a team full of talent). for one cleveland can offer him more money and im pretty sure he can have some of the owner ship if he wanted on top of the asian market that has been opened up even more to him because of owner ship and since there are alot of players that would liek to play with lebron im pretty sure they can add another player to the roster. im not a fan of either teams but chances are high that he resigns with cleveland before heading to new york.
Maybe. Chandler, Hill and Gallo are gonna be good this year and I think they can attract LBJ to NY.
The Nets can get him too but it's like LBJ going to the Clippers, why go to the 2nd best team in NY?
another thing the Cavs cant attract free agents but the Knicks havent been that succesful. Miller chose the tiny unendorsable Portland over New York and iy looks like Sessions might choose La, how would they suddenly atract free agents?
lol who said no late first rounder have made a impact. if the knicks buy a later first rounder wont that cut into the money they can offer a free agent. im just not sure they can be a playoff team if they add either since they play no defense. mike just doesnt teach it it seems he just teaches you to entertain the crowd and score alot of points which doesnt get you in the championship and with this roster(including sessions or iverson , wont get you near the playoffs
Birdzilla...
Cleveland has not been called a attractive city and they dont get the big FA's they want. They are not players in FA and the only they can add another great player next to LBJ in a trade...
NY has been poorly run since 2000. We are on the upswing now because Donnie Walsh is a Top 3 GM. Plus the Knicks are offering most players 1 year deals and Miller did not want that. Sessions still may come to NY because the Knicks may offer Milwaukee a good trade deal.
Spencer- I know. But he can be a great 6th man
Lol...Ok, you must love me because you named yourself after me. I have a life, dont worry about homie. I already have offers to write for basketball sites, Im 16. I'm chill son. I dont care what you say. You talk me, I talk ball it's whatever to me.
just for the record Q, the cavs will not have any cap space because LeBron will still have to have a cap hold if the Cavs want to keep his rights (and the ability to resign him to the longest/richest deal) so yea... the Cavs couldn't resign someone as of how the roster is set right now.... I think.
good thing for your argument...remember when i was saying the Cavs would have cap room...only if they could keep his bird riights until after july 1... but they can't. i just wanted to let u know cuz i was having the discussion with you
Sorry I'm late to the party. I used to be very pessimistic about Lebron actually leaving Clveland to come to New York but my optimism has grown over time.
I doubt Cleveland will win the championship this year and Lebron will have to evaluate his team's roster. Shaq and Z are getting old. Mo Williams and Varejao are overrated. Nobody else really makes a difference on that team. Cleveland's roster is not built for the long haul.
To all of you haters that dont realize the draw of Madison Square Garden you have to open your eyes. Every great player acknowledges the greatness of MSG including Lebron. Who even knows the names of the arenas in Cleveland or New Jersey?
People also have to realize that Lebron will make more money from endorsements in New York. Fads and styles start in New York. It is the most international city in the world.
Lebron would put up mindblowing numbers playing for Mike D'Antoni. It is not out of the realm of possibility to see Lebron average a triple-double.
Chandler, Lee, and Hill have the size and versatility of the players of Orlando that gave Lebron such a hard time in the playoffs. I think he will recognize the potential and strength of such a long athletic lineup.
"It is the most international city in the world."
I don't know about that... Although the more that I think of it, I don't know if I can name a city that is significantly 'more international.' I donno, to me LA is more international than NY cuz everywhere you look there is someone who looks different...
well knicks freak lee is just as overrated because you can go on any website and see coaches say his offense is a product of his enviorment. he has no real offensive moves and just scores off of hustle and is a good rebounder. you say chandler who is good but once again a product of d'antonis system. and you mention hill even though he hasnt done a thing in the nba yet. if you talk about winning a title cleveland has a much better chance then newyork reguardless of the lights flash and the mecca of basketball. the fact still remains the young guys arent proven robins yet and are still not at there potenial where they can help lead a team to a title then theres the fact that the coach just preaches offense and no defense which doesnt win titles. he had a monster of a team out west that was better then the knicks would be with lebron and still couldnt even get to the finals once so you really think he would get that team to the finals?. now if the knicks coach was larry brown then id be singing a different tune
Dantoni is not a bad coach. He made the majority of the players that came to Phoenix into NBA names. And his teams were never terrible defensively, they were middle of the pack, not in the perennial defensive basement as everyone says. Dantoni's offensive pace is set more to wear the other team out than play the least amount of defense possible. And in all the years he was in Phoenix I saw the Suns drop 120-130+ points on teams multiple times, but I never saw a team drop 130 points on the Suns. He even won 9 more games this year than the Knicks did last year while trying to clean up the mess there, dealing with the Marbury soap opera, and with significantly less talent than the year before, all while making multiple trades throughout the year and playing young guys heavy minutes.
Not only were the Suns not terrible defensively under Dantoni, but his first three years there they IMPROVED defensively every year from 17th to 13th, before falling back to 16th his final year there, while never having worse than the 3rd best offense in the League. Pretty impressive.
ckowalski- I agree. Plus the fact that he hasn't won a title yet doesn't mean that he can't win one in the future. I think he is a solid coach. I would rather have Dantoni over Mike Brown anyday.

I am no hater of yours... I just don't like the topic implyng LBJ is going to NYK whereas we are not even sure where his mind is right now. Can't you wait until 2010 before you start writing this article about LBJ going to the Big Apple? Anyway, bottomline, I don't hate you man... It's just that this topic is all over the net...I am just tired of talking about it. Why not focus on this upcoming season's exciting stories that will come instead of the FA on 2010...peace dawg^^
