WHICH OF THE TOP YOUNG PLAYERS WILL THE LAKERS GET AFTER KOBE RETIRES
i was reading the hoopsworld.com chat page when someone asked who will replace kobe. One of the staff writers who is constantly talking to nba players and spends alot of time at img during the summer said dont be suprised if o.j mayo ends up there because of how much he likes l.a and the fact that he has said he would love to play for the lakers since he was a lil kid because of his love for the team and magic johnson. Could he replace kobe as far as producing like him.....i doubt it but i think he would do a hell of a job and if bynum can stay healthy hmmmmmmmm..anyway thats another 5 years down the road(or more) so it doesnt really matter, but im pretty sure l.a would get someone since pretty much everyone would love to play there
i like the Mayo idea, but when Kobe leaves L.A. for good , Memphis will probably be a contender already
What if they get this Kid I know named....Josh Huestis
Who is he ? I rather have Oj Mayo for now lol
haha gimme Stewie anyday
It will probably be someone that is not even out of high school because Kobe will play at least 5 more good years.
Will never be a contender miknike they will not get free agents looking to come there. Mayo is gone too more than likely once that contract is up.
Ok assuming kobe retires at around 36-38 (he could push it to 40 if his minutes decrease by like 3-4 each season, but highly unlikly)...so lets take 37,that 7 years from now...Gasol would be done also (he would be 36-37 also, so would lamar and artest),so that leaves farmer as our starter (hopefully he improves to be a solid starter) with bynum at center (and hopefully he can become something like a 17-10-3 guy).....
Plan A)OJ mayo would be a great replacemnt, he would be in his prime at 28, but for some reason, i dont see this happening...
B)Kevin durant is a possibility too...he would be only 27....he can come in and become the lakers cornerstone with bynum and the other X players for the following 7 years or so....
C) Lakers land somewhere in the 6-10 range in the future drafts and try to move up (unless they get lucky and land the 1,2,3 picks); and draft a stud coming out of college, something like the future KD,Oj mayo, rose, etc (most likly that stud is probably in 6th-10th grade now)
D) They totally start all over, trade everyone who is not a cruical piece to the lakers post-kobe.... (basically everyone but bynum) and work themselves up through the draft
Out of those scenarios, i see C as the most possiblity followed by B,A, and then D
But it will be sure be interesting the day kobe decides to hang up his jersey....
im pretty sure they will get someone..with the great front office, and the fact that everyone wants to play in l.a. maybe no title contenders but playoffs is reachable. plus bynum im sure bynum will eventually be a 23-10 guy o problem
I think Derozan is going to be a good player, I just feel he's a special player and I don't see him staying in Toronto if he has the chance to bolt. If the opportunity arise and he became an elite player he could be the one to take over Kobe mantle in LA.
i dont think the lakers will have a superstar caliber player like a kobe lebron or wade. I think instead the lakers wil have a lot of good players who can be stars but nuthing spectacular. they'll have a team somewhat like atlanta hawks or sumthing. when i say this i mean that they will have alot of good players but no true superstar
Kobe has said that he will play until he's literally kicked out of the league, he does'nt care if he is no longer an elite player. Plus he has no serious history of injuries and he takes care of himself as well as anybody in the league. He can easily play until he is 37-38 if he wants. So why on earth are we dicussing who the Lakers might sign in 6-8 years? There is a good chance that Kobe's replacement is currently a freshman in highschool right now for all we know. This is more pointless then one of those crazy hypothetical trades that have no basis.
yeah but most of these topics are pointless because they are far off so this is really no different then the others. As far as the lakers not getting another super star history has shown they always get another superstar from miken, jabbar, wilt, magic, kobe, shaq they may have 2-3 years developing one or not having one but eventually they will egt one and bynum if healthy is on track to becomming a star
