Iverson & Pacers
Seriously. Iverson in Indiana?!?! Did they not spend the last few years going out of their way to pretty much get rid of every bad character player that they had? I mean they bought out Tinsley after telling him to stay away from the team all last year, gave away Artest, Harrington and Jackson and a few others. So now you are asking if they can get Iverson?
iverson was a bad character like 10 years ago. he's matured since his "i don't need to practice" attitude and this offseason has humbled him. he is a great team player. you should have seen the nuggets' players' reactions when iverson was traded. melo was pissed...until of course they realized billups made the team so much better. comparing iverson to all the guys going to strip clubs and getting in trouble at 4 am is not fair.
The guy is still a bad character guy. His "maturation" is why no teams are willing to touch one of the guys with the highest career scoring averages. It's funny how Philadelphia and Denver got better when they traded him away. From a team standpoint no one that has played with him has played that well. He stagnates the growth of younger players. The only successful teams he had were coached by a Hall of Fame coach and every other guy played stifling defense and hustling for rebounds so they could throw it back out to A.I. He would easily have been able to go to a championship contending team this offseason if he wasn't so selfish. He stated not that long ago that he would never come off the bench, even though at this stage in his career it's the best thing for any team he plays for and gives him the best chance to do what he's always done.
I would love to see Iverson wit the Pacers but we're running low on cash. So I was wondering if you guys think a sign-and-trade involving Jeff Foster would get the job done.
Pacers lineup:
Ford/Watson/Diener/Price?
Rush/Iverson/Dunleavy
Granger/D. Jones
Murphy/Hansbrough/McRoberts
Hibbert/S. Jones
It will be crowded when Dunleavy comes back but I'm going off the fact that one of our wings gets hurt every year. Foster is a fan-favorite but Pacers nation is hoping that our young big men will develop.
