He May Be On To Something...

Well, he isnt the best NBA coach...and he definitely isnt the most liked guy, but Isaiah Thomas may be using FIU for a better job in the future. I think he will get some great recruits for FIU and then try to coach at a big program when he proves he can win there. He has gotten the # 8 recruit in HS basketball for 2011 in Dominique Ferguson, came pretty close to gettin Lance Stephenson earlier, and has gotten 2 other highly touted players for the 2011 class. What do you think ol Isaiah is up to? What college do you think his eyes are on? Thoughts?

I think Isash is gonna build this team up and then bolt for a higher tier job (Marquette or Illinois?) His will attract more recruits.

No, No, No I'm just saying

No, No, No

I'm just saying places open up and things happen. I just picked 2 random schools. If he had this job 2 years ago, I would have said he's perfect to go to Indiana but no. I think he will find a nice job somewhere.

Isiah will always attract

Isiah will always attract big-time recruits because of his pedigree. I mean, look at what he accomplished as a player in the NBA. He's done it all. Imagine him sitting in some kids living room and flashing his championship rings.

I think it's too soon to talk about him landing another high profile job though. His values and ethics have been questioned in the past. The last thing a big time school needs is violations or another situation like we had here in Indiana with Kelvin Sampson. I think he'll have to prove himself at FIU for a few years before he makes the jump anywhere.

& I wouldn't be surprised to

& I wouldn't be surprised to see Isiah steal a few more Indiana recruits because he has some connections here. I know that his son played on one of Indiana's best AAU teams while he was coaching the Pacers.

I think he can get better

I think he can get better recruits than Crean can...but Crean is locked up for a loooonnngg time by Indiana, so I think he would be a better for a coach that could be on the hot seat like Maryland

Boy, St. Johns would be a

Boy, St. Johns would be a very minimal step up from where he is now. Oregon gets talent, but I think their coach is on the hot seat and he could be a decent fit. Maryland would be the best fit, I think USC would be good too.

NY is a hotbed of good

NY is a hotbed of good talent. Going to St Johns and having some more experience (Mark Jackson &Chris Mullen as a super bench unit) would lock down NY, NJ and maybe PA.

Matt Painter at Purdue and

Matt Painter at Purdue and Matta at Ohio St. currently own the State of Indiana when it comes to recruiting look at the top recruits coming out of Indiana in the last few years, the only two they missed were Tyler Zeller who went to UNC (though UNC, Purdue, and Notre Dame were his final three schools) and now Dominique Ferguson (of whom I know Purdue was leary of because of the negative impressions Ferguson and his entourage had built as an ego driven selfish player)- . Crean has a lot of catching up to do...
