Sacramento Kings- Dark Clouds In The Future

I'm not a Kings hater but I just think this organization is headed in the wrong direction.

I think they made a great pick at #4 by choosing Tyreke Evans. He should be a very solid pro. I admit I thought he was/is a PG & that is what position he will play in the nba. However, I noticed on the Kings depth chart that they currently have Evans as the backup SG behind Martin. Now I have a problem with Sacramento if they plan on using Evans as a SG. If that is the case then they should trade Martin. This situation is just confusing me.

If Evans isn't going to play PG then that means Udrih is back starting again which is BAD news. He shouldn't be starting...cmon.

Things don't look any better at the SF position. Garcia & Nocioni are both below average nba players. It just so happens that one of them will have to start this season.

Trading Pendergraph for Brockman & Rodriguez was fine. I don't see any of those 3 players ever being real difference makers. Casspi at #23 was OK too but he is still very raw from what I have seen & probably won't seriously contribute for at least a couple years.

We all know how I feel about Hawes & Thompson....haha. I don't ever see the Kings being successful with these two players starting beside each other. To make things worse they have no depth besides Sean May who hasn't really played many games lately so who knows what he is going to offer really. I don't understand why they don't at least try to trade for David Lee or sign Glen Davis. There are still some solid Free agents on the market.

Also I am glad they didn't resign McCants or Diogu even though that was a big mistake on their part. Both of these players are underrated big time. They also may lose Bobby Jackson who is still a solid player. The thing is the Kings have money to spend...so why are they letting these quality players go?

I hear a lot of talk about how good Martin is....but McCants doesn't get any love. Either Martin is way overrated or McCants is way underrated. I think it is probably a little bit of both. This is why...take a look at their stats while playing only for the KINGS per 48 minutes. You will notice McCants stands up very favorably to Martin when they get equal playing time.

Kevin Martin 31 points 5 rebounds 3 assist 2 steals 4 turnovers per 48 minutes for the Kings
Rashad McCants 25 points 5 rebounds 4 assist 2 steals 1 block 2 turnovers per 48 minutes for the Kings

Take a look at Diogus' stats when he actually is on the court. He is very productive. He just needs a chance & I believe the Hornets got a good bargain by signing him to that cheap deal.

One more thing...trading Salmons was stupid.

Overall I just think this team has a bad future. They will be stuck in the lottery for a very long time. Kings just have too many holes to fill. They are below average at every position except SG.

you love McCants but the 1

you love McCants but the 1 problem with that PPG per 48 theory is sort of irrelvalent is becuase Martin is the 1# option on that team and the opposing squads try to shut him down every night and he still produces , McCants isnt a focal point of the D by any stretch now, as for the question i think the Kings will be a bottom 3 team in the NBA for some time unless they make some serious changes

insider opinion

I lived in Sac for 7 years until a few months ago and I still go back all the time. I listen to the sports radios there and have a pretty good feel for whats going on with the Kings and let me tell you striaght up, they will not spend money and winning is not a serious concern right now. They have been trying to get a new arena for like 6 years now. The city is not rich and does not desire a large arena. The Maloofs have been hinting at potentially leaving if something does'nt happen. Of course they would be dumb to do this because Sac is one of the best bball towns in the league.

With the current economy, the Maloofs know they are not gonna get a single penny out of the city. So they have absolutley no problem taking their time rebuilding slowly through the draft while saving money. KMart is not gonna be traded because he makes a very reasonable 10 mill per for the next 4 years. He is a keeper both on the court and on the payroll.

The plan is to save money over the next 3-5 years while slowly building a up and coming team. By then, the economy should pick up and the Maloofs will have more pull for a new arena. The city can approve, and then you will see the Maloof's bust open their wallets, or the city won't approve a new arena, and you will see the Kings headed to Anaheim.

there only hope is to get

there only hope is to get Wall in the draft
C Hawes May
Pf Thompson May
Sf Martin
Sg Garcia Evens
Pg Wall Evens
Evens can be like the 6th man. right now that team doesnt look that good but i think a lot of those players will get better and May is a good player if hes healthy.

some 2010 draft

some 2010 draft possibilities

1, draft Wall , move Evans to the 2 and trade Martin(a stretch), or move Martin to the 3
2. draft Paul George and move Evans to the 2 and Martin to the 3
2. or (unlikely) they can draft Motiejunas , play him at the 5 and bench Hawes, Thompson starts at the 4

I dont think Evans can play

I dont think Evans can play SG.... He is clueless when he doesnt have the ball in his hands (he doesnt move well without the ball).....He is most effective with the ball in his hands & getting into the lane....

i still think May is a starting power forward if healthy. Hawes can start, Martin can start and Evans can too but besides that their really weak.

Franchise fell apart when they lost to LA

For some reason I imagine John Wall in kings uniform. I don't know why but that might be a good thing to have him turn the franchise around.

2002

That 2001-02 season was supposed to be their year... It just didn't work out for whatever reason and yeah, They would have been World Champs in that year with C-Webb, Vlade (my favorite King), Peja, Mike Bibby and Christie... I don't know what happened after that...

Kings are in a painful rebuilding mode now and they are hoping to get the luck of the irish in the next draft... The John Wall bonanza maybe their answer for this dying team...

Why don't you like Hawes or Thompson?

I just want to hear your insight on those players.

yo wassup. i think martin is overrated. he gets way too much praise for a one dimensional player...
i just don't get it. I say the kings should look for a decent trade while martin has trade value right now...
it would be smart. I've said it many times that another season or two of kevin playin only 50 games and
showing nothing other than shooting will hurt his trading value dramatically. he's entering his 4th year (out of 5) of
his contract i believe, and i don't think the kings will have a problem trading him right now.

it would be smart to get rid of nocioni through a kevin martin trade also.

i have a little more faith in udrih with the new coach and a new system...from what i've read udrih played like
$hit basically because of kenny nat. I'd give beno one last chance because nat is gone. although he may play
a little better, i don't see beno making a huge factor on the court.

Anyway, if they move evans as a backup Sg, i wouldn't like the idea. i'd trade kevin and try to move garbage(nocioni)
along with him.

also

if spencer puts on some more muscle, i think he'll be a decent center. i like his defense and the fact that he can shoot a 3 once in awhile and he has an alright perimeter game i'd say.

What i'm concerned about his thompson. he gets into foul trouble way too early and sometimes will make poor decisions down low in the post. Ya, he's a rookie, i get it...but this kid is getting a little too much hype. I've seen the most crazy comparisons...as in this kid was compared to webber...get f*ckin real..lol. I say if the kings get a chance to improve the center position, they should strongly debate on whether to trade hawes or thompson. Hawes really does play like a 4 and is fast enough to guard most 4's. Depending on who i bring in at center and how he plays would decide whether i keep thompson or hawes. if i bring in a center who plays in the paint strictly, i keep hawes. if i bring in a center that has an ok mid ranged game and will bang inside, i'll keep thompson.

evans looks to be the future face of the franchise, i expect martin gone sooner or later.

It's OK, Sacramento Kings

It's OK, Sacramento Kings will move to Seattle and become the new Sonics Franchise...or Kansas City again.
