Dwight Howard or Chris Paul

Legit Question.

*I AM NOT COMPARING THEM*

If you were starting a franchise who would you choose?

I'd choose Dwight Howard, to start a franchise a good big man always seems more important than a good point guard, and quality point guards are more common than quality centers, a great Center just seems like a rare commodity

tough call

But I would take Dwight as well. I think Paul is maybe a little more valuable, but dominant bigs are harder to come by then great pg's. It's just always easier to build around a great center imo.

Dwight Howard...easy choice

Dwight Howard...easy choice for me

LeBron is the only player in the league I would choose over Dwight to build a team around right now.

Paul

Funny, I actually had this debate a few months ago with one of the writers for ESPN. I cannot criticize anyone for picking Howard. For as many holes in his game, the guy is a beast and any team would be lucky to have him. His value probably goes even higher when you look around the NBA for something that remotely resembles a center. With that said, I'll take Chris Paul. Not only is he amazing, but he's gotten better every year in the league. He makes the garbage around him actually look like an NBA team. The guy never makes a bad decision. I would hate to see what he could do if he had any real help. Also, a lot of props to him for his rebounding. It's hard to rebound from the perimeter, but him and Rondo are young guys that do it very well.

great post sir.

i would take paul. hear me out and please don't hate on me for it.

you need an established guard...period..to go anywhere. name me one playoff team that doesn't have a good point or shooting guard....

this is a very hard choice to make. but you need a guard period to go anywhere.

I could see why some people

I could see why some people would choose Paul.... there is nothing wrong with that. Paul definitely doesn't have much help around him... I mean the wing players for the Hornets aren't very good. If New Orleans ever gets a solid SG & SF they will be a title contender.

HOWARD

shot blocking is one of the most important things a team can have. with a shot blocker, if a team scores on you, they have to do it the hard way (ie cleveland series). besides, a good point guard does not always equal a championship team.

Hard one

this is a hard one because my lakers just one the championship without a dominant big men or point guard i think people build around their team with a bonafide star who can sell tickets. I like chris paul alot but i would take Dwight because a center in the nba is a rare breed these days and their are alot of up in coming point guards in the league.

Howard

Interior defense is very important. Any good team needs some length inside. Howard can control a game without plays being run for him, and without the ball. He can dominate a team without a physical presence inside. Paul needs the ball to control a game.

Dwight Howard. If I was

Dwight Howard. If I was starting a team, I would always choose from the inside (frontcourt) out (perimeter guys). They always have a better chance of winning.

Even though most will say

Even though most will say these are the two most important parts of a team(pg, C) it's kind of odd to see that the last couple championship teams have had their weakest points at those postitions(LA, Boston,) Freak incidents or proof of something...BTW I'd chose Paul. He makes players better more than Dwight does.

This is a tough call but I

This is a tough call but I would have to take Paul I'm not say Dwight isn't better but Paul has a chance to be a top 3 PG. I don't think ethier one of them has reached their potential, but could you imagine these two on the same team they would unstoppable

Dwight hes a once in a

Dwight hes a once in a decade player, sure Paul is an amazing point guard but theres plenty of good point guards when you can get a 6-11 player with hops like that your lucky.

With the new NBA rules I

With the new NBA rules I would take Paul but this is tough choice, not really good to bet against a big with Howard athleticism and defense.

Paul made Chandler look like

Paul made Chandler look like Howard sometimes and not to knock Howard but if Howard had Paul instead of Nelson then they would have one. Paul gets guys easy shots and can control the offense and defense on the floor. Howard gets blocks, Paul get steals. This is tough but when Paul makes Okafor look like D Howard this season you will understand.

Uh Chauncey Billups or Tony Parker?

Anyway I would take Howard also. Its not easy finding a guy that can score 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 2-3 blocks a game. There's a lot of guards that is almost good as CP3 like Deron Williams.

I like Paul a lot better...

But right now I'll take Howard... Great defense and athleticism. All those dunk contests can bring in more attention on the team and sell more tickets. Stronger bigs are rare; look at the current high school prospects and drafts after 2006 and you'll see most of the skilled bigs being tall and skinny, but look at the guards got plenty of new ones like Rose and Rondo.

dwight

I'll take D12. There aren't a lot of dominant centers in the league today, but we are seeing a lot of good and capable guards today. It is like the case of Portland picking Oden over Durant. A center who clogs the lane and patrols the interior is a rarer commodity than a scorer night in night out.

Touch Choice,
I'll pick Howard, but still,
Both are real good players,
Dwight is a real dominant player in the league,
But cp3, hes just AMAZING
