gm for a day

ok so you are the gm of a semi-rebuilding team. you have a star player but he has no help. your team missed the playoffs and now its lottery time. your team, seeded 8th wins the lottery. in this upcoming draft there is only one player worthy of the top pick. the problem is he plays the same exact style as your star player. other teams make offers for your pick but nothing interests you. what do you do?

if there aren't any good

if there aren't any good trade offers then you take the only player worthy of the top pick

however

what if your star takes offense at the drafting of a player at his position and tells you if you draft the player, he will request a trade. would you be more hesitant to draft the kid or shop your pick around more.

if he complains like that

if he complains like that then trade him hes not a team player. if he is a team player he will use that pick to motivate himself too be better.

If none of the trades

If none of the trades interest you, you have to go for the one worthy of the pick. Wait until the trade deadline and then shop your star player if you have to and by this time you'll have a better grasp on what your pick was able to bring to the team, might be able to pick up a great deal at that point in the season.

you should have givin teh

you should have givin teh option of two star players. like choosing oer oden and durant. in which i would have taken the bigman. or make things ral interesting and make a lead guard, wing player and post pressence all worthy of the #1 pick. in which i wud choose the wing player. the kobe, dwade and lebron draw fouls the games too easy.

Unless that player is the

Unless that player is the only good player in the draft and in that case you easily trade him for a first rounder and a vet. Look what pieces Washington got for the 5 pick in a "so called bad" draft. You waste a pick if you try to grab the same type of player. As a GM you building a team. Everyone looks at the Michael Jordan thing and dont realize that who knew Michael would be as good as he was. No one did. If Michael would have been average noone would be tripping on what Portland did back in the day. I would build a team. I hate when the draft comes and the teams has needs and the draft goes and they still have those needs. Sometimes the team has multiple picks. I dont get it.
