Spurs are going to win the NBA title this year. The Lakers may be a better team with Odom, but the Spurs and the Celtics will be the two teams in the finals this year. Mark My Words.....

I said it in my Lakers post last month (please search Dhamp and Lakersin the search box on this site) and I will say it again. The LAKERS have a dynasty and will THREE-PEAT. It's over (barring injuries), write it down. And I'm a Nuggets fan.

Nice thinking Futureofthegame! We could've beat the Lakers he we not lost two games because we were unable to inbound the pass.

And....Kobe Bryant will continue to attract big-time free agents such as Tom Brady to secure they stay on top of the Western Conference.

Kobe and Artest are two shut down corner backs. At times, the way the will take out the opposition's wing players will be unfair. And if anyone actually drives past them (ha ha ha) they a 7-footer coming from every direction to help.

Miami will probably push

Miami will probably push hard for Boozer.

If the Lakers 3 peat I am going to switch to baseball. I hate the Yanks and they haven't won anything in 10 years.

Seriously, if I have to watch another Boston vs. L.A. finals I might vomit, UNLESS Bird and Magic suit up for one game.

I'm tired of hearing that argument. Malone did'nt play in the finals because he was hurt. Watching Slava try to gaurd Wallace still haunts me. And Payton had lost all confidence and went awol. Kobe and Shaq had given up on playing together and quit on the team. That is nothing like this current roster. If Bynum returns to full health, the Lakers are gonna be the best team in the NBA next year.

It's Not A Given

It's not a given that the Lakers will win it all this year, but the Odom signing is going to help keep them going in the right direction. For as good as Odom is, he is horribly inconsistent and for as good as Ron Artest can be, he is easily combustible. Don't think that Kobe won't get in his face and when that happens that it may not turn out well. The Spurs, Celtics, and Magic have all clearly gotten better and I'm not sure if the Cavs are better, but with Lebron they have a chance. Personally, I see the Lakers as being very beatable. I think they were this year. Houston being the team that had the best chance to get them, but got snake bitten with the injury to their other superstar. At the moment, the only team that can give the Lakers a run in the west will be San Antonio, especially with a healthy Ginobli. Don't sleep on their recent additions of McDyess, Blair and Jefferson a recovered and rested Ginobli, as well as an improved George Hill. I would really hate to go against that team if they are able to get Bowen back for a minimum contract after he is released.

The Spurs do look dangerous

The Spurs do look dangerous but Parker just got hurt again and Duncan Ginobli are hurt. I still think they are an x factor team but they will not beat the Lakers. They cant match up with them at all. Gasol and Duncan(at this point in his career) cancel it other out.Jefferson can be stop totally by Artest and that is not boost up Artest to much it is just Jefferson is not that dynamic of a player to beat someone like Artest. The only favorable match up spurs has is Parker and he just got hurt. Ginobli is not going to be the same. He is a older guard who has a lot basketball on his body even before he came into the league. Also the better the play the more teams they will have to go through before they get to the Lakers. The Lakers will be reloading while they are beat up. The West is so deep that unless you get that top spot you will have a hard time than anyone else to get to the finals. Lakers will be number one and spurs could get 2 or 3 and the 6 and 7 things in the West are tough. The Rasheed Wallace pick up will not help them much in the playoffs. It wil help them in the regular season to rest KG. I would rather Wallace on the floor next to KG than Perkins.

Like I said... This was all

Like I said... This was all just a game of tug of war. I knew he'd end up re-signing w/ the Lakers. The NBA might as well hand them their rings early.

The West

I really don't think the West is all that deep this year. All of the teams in the West seemed to be cutting payroll except for L.A. and San Antonio. Houston is worse, Denver probably stayed about the same, but losing Klieza and not getting anyone to replace him won't help, Phoenix should be worse, etc. I did forget that Parker got hurt. Does anyone know what kind of injury it was? I think they will be fine with George Hill and whoever else is running the point until he returns to full strength.

As for Odom resigning. I am happy about it, because it means that Miami won't be competing anytime soon and probably increases the likelihood that Wade is gone next year. I have my fingers crossed, hoping that he goes home to Chicago.
