Tulsa

this year is probably going to be a down year for memphis,so does anyone here believe Tulsa could win C-USA? they return the best player in the conference IMO by the name of Jerome Jordan, they also return some great gurads like Glenn Andrews, Justin Hurtt, and Ben Uzoh.they return good role players such as Bishop Wheatley,Steven Idlet, and Joe Richard and have a nice recruiting class with players such as Donte Medder, Kodi Maduka, and Bryson Pope.

I live in Tulsa by way of Denver! LOL!

There is no way Tulsa University can win Conference USA. And Jerome Jordan, is vastly overated. He's just intruging because he's 7 feet tall. I see him walking downtown all of the time.

I think Tulsa will win

I think Tulsa will win conference USA. They now have the best team.... that just shows u how weak that conference is though. Memphis has absolutely no inside presence & no solid PG. Most of the better players in the conference graduated. Tulsa actually has 2 of the top 5 players in the conference in Uzoh & Jordan.

Gatorheels, Tulsa has the best team???

Gatorheels you've got to be kidding me. Typically I agree with most of your opinions and comments, but in this case you must not know much about the Memphis Tigers. First, you say there is no inside presence. I would like you to look up Will Coleman highlights and check him out on MemphisRoar.com. Next, do you not remember Angel Garcia? He is a legit 6-11 PF who can shoot the lights out and is a solid rebounder. He was ineligible last year and that's why he didn't play, but I see him playing on a weekly basis and know that he is the real deal. PG is a big question, but before DRose came along and bumped him down, Willie Kemp was a highly touted PG recruit and was doing just fine. With him and Elliot Williams splitting time running the point, I believe the Tigers will be fine at point. SG and SF will be well taken care of by Rob Sallie, Wesley Witherspoon, and DMack. And if Latavious hadn't gone to China we would be even stronger. Looked for this team to prove al ot of people wrong and wind up ranked at some point. If you knock the Tigers for anything it should be depth and inexperienced coaching. Get your facts straight before you tear down a team.

Dude I'm sorry Memphis lost

Dude I'm sorry Memphis lost Calipari & will no longer get the big time recruits. I wasn't tearing down the team sorry I hit a nerve haha. I actually like Memphis, I just think they are going to have a rough year. So Will Coleman & Angel Garica is considered a good inside presence.. i don't think so. I'd rather have Jordan. Also Kemp & Mack are OK but nothing special. Witherspoon has potential. Sallie can shoot. Elliot Williams is a good player.
Is a lineup of PG-Elliot SG-Sallie SF-Witherspoon PF-Garcia C-Coleman with Kemp & Mack coming off the bench good enough to win Conference USA?...i'm guessing no but time will tell.

tbrnwter- don't tell me to get my facts straight.... sorry you are a biased Memphis fan. & Yes I could've mentioned that Memphis has inexperienced coaching & not much depth.

Besides Sallie Memphis is a terrible shooting team. They lost their 4 best players from last year. No returning player averages double digit scoring. I think have a right to question Memphis. Tulsa wins the conference...I would bet money on it.

Have you ever watched Jerome

Have you ever watched Jerome Jordan play? He is hobo's version of Hasheem Thabeet. He is a tall stiff who thus far in his career has done nothing but be a waste of space. I've seen him play live 5-6 times. Yes, I do think a lineup of Williams, Sallie, Witherspoon, Garcia, and Coleman will win CUSA. Tell me a CUSA guard who is better than Elliot Williams. Coleman has been touted as Joey Dorsey with better ball skills and more post moves. To me, that sounds like a fantastic player, especially in CUSA. Also, what do you mean Memphis will no longer get the high profile recruits? They've already gotten Will Barton, will most likely get Joe Jackson, are in deep for Adonis Thomas who is a top 5 Junior in HS, are involved with Jelan Kendrick who plays AAU with jackson and thomas, are on Josh Selby's "to visit" list (though i believe he will go go UK), and they are heavily recruiting 4-5 other top 15 players in the 2010 class

Nobody ever said memphis was a good shooting team. In the past years when they have been great, nobody ever said it was their fantastic shooting that did it. Memphis wins because of defense and their ability to play well in the up tempo style. This doesn't always result in good FG %, but the D FG% was always substantially lower, thus resulting in wins.

That is true about Barton.

That is true about Barton. You have to think there will be a drop off in recruiting with the loss of Calipari...at least that is what I am thinking but who knows.

I would say right now Uzoh is better than Williams. Also yes I have seen Jerome Jordan play. He is the best post player in the conference..you have to admit that. Memphis as a team will shoot nothing but bricks all season long. They have no go to scorer, they have no identity. Tulsa has an experienced team and have good chemistry already. Hey man I hope Memphis does win the conference. They are my favorite team in the conference but I just have a feeling Tulsa wins.

I would say that yes right

I would say that yes right now Jordan is the best big in the conference, but that really isn't saying much this year. I think as the year progresses you will see the memphis bigs that i mentioned develop into much better players than jordan. Uzoh is good but to me is also very streaky. he is the type of player who can give both the opposing team and his head coach huge headaches depending on the game. I think williams will end up better by the end of the year. you are correct in saying that they have no go to scorer, but thats part of the change in basketball from year to year. Someone always steps up. You would think that recruiting would drop off, but most basketball people don't realize that Pastner was the one hauling in most of Cal's recruits. If it wasn't pastner on the phone, it was World Wide Wes. Cal isn't the master recruiter that everyone thinks he is. His assistants and "friends" do most of his work and he is the face that recieves the attention. I liked Cal alot, but we all knew he was tainted and there is alot more that most people don't know about him.

It seems like a 2 pony race right now

I will not discount Tulsa as contenders. Uzoh and James are great C USA level playes, and Ive heard rave reviews about incomming Medder. Memphis has more talent probably but no continuity so they have to be considered a wildcard at this point. Does anybody know if Elliot WIlliams has been declared eligible? That is probably the determining factor because he is the most talented player in Conference USA and might win POY in his career.

As far as long term goes, I expect Memphis to take a small step back but still probably rule CUSA. I dont see Pastner building and restocking a final four contender every year like Calishady did, but he has recruited well so far and considering the turmoil of the offseason, they still look pretty well poised to win a conference title next year. They are the team to beat every year.

Are you guys serious. Gatorheels, come on man, trust me. I saw Jerome go up against Blake Griffin about five miles away. On the first two plays of the game Blake block Jerome's shot. After that, Jerome was so scared, he ran from the ball the rest of the game! I was there! lol! I know it's Blake Griffin, but Jerome is 7 feet and not that athletic! He doesn't rebound well and STUFFS his stats on inferior conference opponters. And sometimes, NAIA level competition.

Trust me on this one.

I agree Jordan isn't that

I agree Jordan isn't that good as far as the NBA is concerned but in Conference USA he is a stud. I am in by no means hyping Jordan up but when compared to other post players in that conference he just doesn't have any competition.
