BOYS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Deyonta Davis
Muskegon
Davis, a 6-foot-9 junior center, nearly had back-to-back triple-doubles on back-to-back nights. On Friday in a 69-39 win against Mona Shores, Davis finished with 14 points, 10 blocks and eight rebounds. He followed that up Saturday with 17 points, 27 rebounds and 16 blocks as the Big Reds, ranked No. 1 in Class A, defeated Mount Clemens 68-59. Mount Clemens, the No. 1 ranked team in Class C, had no answer for Davis. “He's been protecting the paint pretty well,” Muskegon coach Keith Guy said. “The shots that he's not blocking he's changing and that doesn't show up in the stat sheet.”
