EAST LANSING -- Michigan State forward Branden Dawson suffered a sprained left wrist in the second half of his team's 66-46 win Wednesday over Eastern Michigan and his time frame for returning is uncertain, Spartans coach Tom Izzo said.

Izzo said he will be re-evaluated Thursday.

"He's going to miss some time here there's no question," Izzo said. "I just don't know how much.

"I feel for him, I love the kid. I don't think it's going to be anything serious."

Dawson went for a dunk with 16 minutes left in the game and came down hard on the floor. He left the floor favoring his left wrist, but returned to the bench with an ice pack taped to it with seven minutes left in the game. He didn't check back into the game.

"It takes the wind out of your sails a little bit," Izzo said of the injury.

Dawson came into the game averaging 11.6 points and a Big Ten-high 8.7 rebounds per game.

The senior has a history of injuries at Michigan State, including a torn ACL as a freshman and a broken hand last year. Earlier this year, he missed a game with an illness.

The Spartans complete the non-conference portion of their season with a Saturday game against Texas Southern and a Monday game against The Citadel.
