In the days leading up to the McDonald’s All American Games in Chicago, USA TODAY High School Sports will be catching up with various players to talk about their experiences. In this entry, we talk to Virginia Episcopal School’s Sacha Killeya-Jones, who has signed to play at Kentucky.

My favorite part of the whole week so far has been our visit to the Ronald McDonald House. It was so good. I talked with a young guy named Bradley and some other kids and we got to play with them, and do their little Easter egg hunt.  We helped them decorate cookies and all that good stuff, and it was really fun. It was good to see the kids and see them smile. I really appreciate them having us there.

As for the basketball, it has been really fun. Obviously everyone here is among the best in the country, and everyone wants to play against the best. There are a lot of Kentucky guys here, and we’re all going at it. Me and (fellow Kentucky signee) Bam (Adebayo) have been playing a lot, and me and Tony Bradley have caught each other a couple of times. You go up and dunk or something and all these guys are gonna try to top you, so you gotta fight.

We’ve been all over Marques (Bolden) trying to get him to Kentucky. You’re familiar with a lot of these guys when you come here and you know their skills, but seeing them up close is different. The dunk contest was awesome, just seeing some of those guys jump is really impressive. It’s just crazy.

I’m definitely paying attention to what those guys at Kentucky are going to do next year with the NBA Draft. It doesn’t matter to me either way, though. I’m just ready to get there and compete! Everyone entered their name into the draft already, which I thought was awesome. I’m ready to see what those guys do and I wish them and their families the best of luck.

I’m definitely excited to play Wednesday night. Of course I want to enjoy myself and have fun, but at the same time I want to compete. I’ll be going up against some of the top players in the country, so I wanna play hard and keep making a name for myself.

But the main thing is to compete and have fun. It’s an all-star game, so I’m not really worried too much about stats. I just want to go out and have fun and just play.
