We recently got the chance to sit down and speak with The Naismith Player of the Year, Morgan Wooten Player of the Year, and our very own NBADraft.net High School Player of the Year, Lonzo Ball, to reflect on his team’s perfect season and a little bit about his future.

NBADraft.net: So far, how has Chicago been?

Lonzo Ball: Chicago’s great. It’s my first time out here and I like it.

NBADraft.net: Do you feel like you have anything to prove in this game?

Lonzo Ball: No I’m just going to go out there and play, have fun.

NBADraft.net: To somebody who hasn’t seen you play before, how would you describe your game to them?

Lonzo Ball: Versatile and uptempo.

NBADraft.net: Is there anybody you base your game off of?

Lonzo Ball: No not really.

NBADraft.net: Is there anything you want to add or work on before you go to college?

Lonzo Ball: Before I go to college I’m trying to get stronger. The next level is definitely more physical and hopefully get my handle a little bit more tight.

NBADraft.net: Who has been the most difficult opponent for you to face?

Lonzo Ball: I’m not sure. There’s a lot of great guys out there, I can’t just pick one.

NBADraft.net: At what age did you realize basketball was something you wanted to pursue?

Lonzo Ball: I started at six but when I was about ten that’s when I thought I had a chance at it. Ever since then I’ve been playing.

NBADraft.net: What’s been your biggest basketball moment so far?

Lonzo Ball: Actually it just happened when we won state. It was my first time and the atmosphere was crazy, all my teammates were jumping up and down so it was a good time.

NBADraft.net: How was the experience of playing with your brothers and having the great season you guys had?

Lonzo Ball: It’s a once in the lifetime opportunity and the fact that it went perfect, that makes it even better. Some of the moments that we had, I can look back at it and just smile.

NBADraft.net: What attracted you about UCLA?

Lonzo Ball: Hometown kid, I wanted to stay home and plus I fell in love with the coaches.

NBADraft.net: What separates you from your peers playing in this game?

Lonzo Ball: I think my style of play is a little different than them. I feel like I can do a little bit more than most guys, so I have to go with that.

NBADraft.net: If you could go back and give advice to a ninth grade Lonzo Ball, what would you say?

Lonzo Ball: Just keep working hard and stay humble.

NBADraft.net:
Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Lonzo Ball: Hopefully doing some stuff big in the league.
