Prep roundup: Crespi basketball team gets another big effort from Heidegger at Mission Prep Christmas Classic

Crespi sophomore Max Heidegger continued his stellar play at the Mission Prep Christmas Classic.

Heidegger scored 24 points Thursday in a 75-56 boys basketball victory against Chaparral (Colo.) in a National Division game.

That came one night after Heidegger scored 26 points in a victory against host Mission Prep.

D.J. Ursery added 18 points Thursday for the Celts (7-1) and Benny Blackwell scored 12.

Crespi is scheduled to meet Inglewood at 4:30 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Inglewood 54, Campbell Hall 51 >> Aaron Holiday had 28 points as the Vikings (1-5) lost a first-round game in the Mission Prep Christmas Classic National Division.

Campbell Hall trailed by 10 points in the third quarter and then rallied behind Holiday and Eamon Griffith. Griffith cut the deficit to one-point on a layup with 3:43 remaining and gave the Vikings their first lead since early in the first quarter with two free throws.

Holiday put the Vikings up by two points with 2:03 remaining. Griffith finished with nine points and Kahlil Simplis scored five points in his second game back from an ankle injury.

Bishop Montgomery 82, Sylmar 67 >> Stevie Thompson, Jr. scored 22 points and Justin Bibbins scored 21 points at the Mission Prep Christmas Classic to lead Bishop Montgomery (8-0), which has also knocked off El Camino Real and Westchester this year.

Devenir Duruisseau, who arrived after taking an Amtrak train and a bus to San Luis Obispo after not traveling with the team Wednesday, scored 22 points to lead Sylmar (6-6).

Dion Bright scored 15 points, Tyler Hooks scored 12 points and Malcolm Wadlow added 11 points for Sylmar, which plays at noon Friday against St. Joseph.

Verdugo Hills 73, Chavez 38 >> Albert Marmol scored 18 points and had five assists, Adrian Gutierrez had 13 points and 13 rebounds and seven blocks, and Erick Esparza added 12 points and five assists to lead the Dons (7-3, 2-0 East Valley).

Sierra Canyon 67, Flintridge Prep 41 >> The young Trailblazers became the area’s first team to reach 10 victories after an easy nonleague victory against Flintridge Prep.

Jamani Spencer and freshman Terrence McBride each scored 15 points and freshman Ira lee added 14 points for Sierra Canyon, which has won the Simi Valley and Moorpark tournaments.

Andrew Tsangeos led the Rebels (2-3) with 18 points.

El Camino Real 58, Bountiful (Utah) 55 >> The Conquistadores escaped in a Platinum Division first-round game of the Tarkanian Classic at Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas.

Maleke Haynes made the winning 3-pointer with four seconds remaining.

Haynes finished with 20 points and Kelton CVonway added 17 points for the Conquistadores (5-2).

Viewpoint 68, Yeshiva 66 (2 OT) >> Christian Juzang scored 27 points and made two free throws with 17 seconds left for the Patriots (6-4). Tim Howell had 31 points for the Patriots.

Quartz Hill 63, Palmdale 49 >> Andrew Soto scored 11 points and Darren Harrell scored 10 points to lead the Rebels (7-2, 3-1) to a Golden League victory against Palmdale.

E.J. Mitchell led Palmdale with 20 points and Marcus Foster added 12 points.

Girls basketball

Sierra Canyon 69, San Clemente 53 >> The Trailblazers (7-0) built a 23-6 lead and cruised to the Gold Division quarterfinal win at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions.

Gabi Nevill had 24 points, Zoe Goss added 16 points and seven rebounds, with Kennedy Burke contributing 12 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists for Sierra Canyon, which has won 17 in a row.

Valencia 55, Granada Hills 33 >> Sandra Ikeora had 12 points, nine rebounds and five blocks, with Paige Nealy adding 15 points and eight rebounds for Valencia (6-4), which received six points and four steals from Ashlee Ane.

Flintridge Prep 51, Flintridge Sacred Heart 33 >> Renae Tamura had 16 points and Tala Ismail added 14 points for the Rebels (7-1). Kelly Fradet led the Tologs (5-4) with 10 points.

Sun Valley 39, Vaughn 35 >> Katherine Conchas had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Ingrid Sanchez added 16 points and 10 assists to lead the Wildcats (3-5, 2-3 Valley). For Vaughn (1-7, 0-5), Sabrina Reyes had 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Birmingham 71, Belmont 36 >> Rita Kejoian had 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Patriots (3-0) to a victory at the Garfield Tournament. Ashley Pesanti contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for Birmingham and Karla Aguirre added 11 points and eight assists.

Campbell Hall 66, Heritage Christian 28 >> Kayla Carrington had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Vikings (8-2). Dominique Dotson contributed 21 points, seven assists and seven and Caroline Hull added 13 points and six steals.

Boys soccer

Crescenta Valley 6, Mayfair 1 >> Chris Mardiroyssian had two goals and an assist to lead C.V. (7-1-1). Matt Ryan also had two goals for the Falcons, who won their fourth straight. Tony Royer and Justin Wright each scored a goal and had an assist for C.V.

Canoga Park 4, Reseda 0 >> Ezequiel Quijada had three goals and an assist to lead the visiting Hunters (4-0, 2-0 Valley Mission). Giovanni Gomez had a goal with Omar Quiroz, Cesar Ramirez and Jared Lopez each recording assists.

San Fernando 4, Panorama 1 >> Omar Vasquez had a goal and an assist to lead the Tigers (3-4-1, 1-1 Valley Mission). Marcos Bueno, Danny Ochoa and Inmer Cabrera each scored for San Fernando, which got an assist from Jesus Mejia.

Sylmar 2, Kennedy 0 >> Alexis Gomez had a goal and an assist and Erik Camacho also scored for the host Spartans (7-2, 2-0 Valley Mission). For Kennedy (1-2-1, 1-1), goalkeeper Josue Lopez made five saves.

Notre Dame 3, Burroughs 2 >> Michael Enderson scored two goals to lead the Knights (3-1-2). Lucas Alfonso added the other goal for Notre Dame and Matthew Marcelino made six saves. Ashot Veisyan and Nolberto Alcantar scored for Burroughs (4-2-2).

“This group wants to leave a mark at the school,” Knights coach Patrick Thomsen said. “We want to be known as a team that can compete with anyone and this was the first step.”

Alfonso has nine goals in six matches for Notre Dame.

Newbury Park 2, St. Bonaventure 0 >> Jayne Avendano scored twice for the Panthers (5-0-1) in the Buena tournament, with Maddie Murray and Christina Krehbiel adding assists and Ella Dederick recording the shutout.

Harvard-Westlake 0, Foothill 0 >> Jackie Ridgley had four saves for the Wolverines (3-1-1) at the Mater Dei Premier Invitational. Despite the tie, Harvard-Westlake — the defending tournament champion — remains in first place in its pool entering today’s match against Bishop Amat.

El Camino Real 0, Oaks Christian 0 >> The Lions prevailed 4-3 on penalty kicks in the Buena tournament.

Marymount 2, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0 >> Dani Garcia had two saves for the Tologs (3-1).
