Yreka Babe Ruth annual meeting set for next week

YREKA - Parents, coaches and anyone interested in Yreka Babe Ruth baseball are invited to the group's annual meeting next week. It is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 6:00 p.m. at the side room at Roundtable Pizza in Yreka, located at 735 South Broadway St.

 In a press release, the organization said that attendance is critical.

"There are a number of very important issues to discuss with everyone interested in Yreka Babe Ruth and youth baseball in the Yreka area," the release said. "These issues include:

• South Siskiyou Little League forming Junior (13-14 age) and Senior (15-16 age) Divisions. There may be no Mt. Shasta or Weed Babe Ruth teams.

• Yreka Little League Forming Junior (13-14 age) and Senior (15-16 age) Divisions. Yreka Little League's boundaries include not only Yreka but the Montague, Hornbrook, Ft. Jones, Etna, Grenada and Big Springs areas. Basically the entire county except for the Weed, Mt. Shasta, and Dunsmuir areas.

• Scott Valley has voted to form Junior and Senior Divisions teams and to join Yreka Little League. There may be no Scott Valley Babe Ruth teams.

• Future of Yreka Babe Ruth teams.

• Yreka Babe Ruth Board of Directors, managers and coaches vacancies."
