Jordan Classic diary: Tyler Dorsey

In the days leading up to Friday’s Jordan Brand Classic, USA TODAY High School Sports will be publishing diaries from players to document their experiences in New York City, at practices and events related to the game. This installment is with Maranatha (Pasadena, Calif.) shooting guard Tyler Dorsey, an Oregon commit.

This is my first all-star event and most of these guys have been to a couple already so I’ve got to go out and perform. I just want to have the right mindset and play hard.

I was definitely in the gym every day preparing for this since the season ended. I just wanted to make sure that I was ready for this because it was my only event.

This is a great opportunity and I’ve been blessed with to be invited to be here. I think its’ going to be a great week and a great event.

For people who haven’t seen me, I feel like I’m a triple threat. I can get buckets, I can go to the rim, spread defenses and facilitate and lead on the court.

After I got into New York, we went out bowling last night and got to hang out with all the guys and have fun. I’m not sure who the best bowler is. That’s a tough question.

I’ve only been to New York once before in eighth grade for a tournament so I’m not really familiar with it. I want to go out to the tourist places and see the the buildings, like the Empire State Building.
