Boys’ basketball: Jack Williams, Trevor Stanback can be imposing duo
At some point, 6-foot-8 senior Jack Williams and 6-10 sophomore Trevor Stanback are going to be an imposing duo in prep basketball this coming season for West Hills Chaminade.
They are learning how to play together and gaining the necessary chemistry to make the Eagles very good.
Williams, a Long Beach State commit, is a nonstop hustler. He finds ways to contribute, whether scoring on a rebound, diving for a loose ball or firing off an assist. Stanback is the prodigy in the making. You can see him improving before your eyes, just like Loyola’s 7-foot Thomas Welsh did in the Mission League the last two years.
Chaminade has a long ways to go. The Eagles need to find a consistent scoring threat from long-range to prevent teams from playing zone defenses against their big men. But the pieces are in place for a very good team.
In Sunday’s Inglewood fall league, the Eagles scored the first 11 points against Rolling Hills Prep and won going away.
