The rest of the teams in the Coastal Canyon League need to pay attention to Oak Park.

The Eagles have the best freshman duo in the area.

Riley Battin and Wes Slajchert each scored 24 points to lead Oak Park to a 86-54 nonleague victory over West Ranch in the New Year’s Showcase at Calabasas High.

“We are lucky to have those two guys for the next few years,” Oak Park coach Aaron Shaw said.

Battin scored 17 points in the first half and Slajchert made six 3-pointers. The Eagles (10-5) jumped out an early 14-point lead and never looked back.

Oak Park has won eight in a row.

Battin and Slajchert each scored seven points in the third quarter when Oak Park’s lead swelled to 30 points.

Michael Alvarez scored 19 points for Oak Park, which opens league play Wednesday against Camarillo.

West Ranch (8-8) was led by Ryan Beddeo’s 17 points.

La Canada 56, Leuzinger 51 OT >> Ben Choi scored 14 points, sophomore Koko Kurdoghlian scored 13 points and Grant Arthur 12 to lead the Spartans (9-4).

De’Vonte Carr scored 16 points to lead the Olympians (5-8).

Canyon 57, Moorpark 48 >> Canyon rallied from an eight-point second half deficit for the victory.

Luke Edwards scored 13 points and Ben Taufahema and Selom Mawugbe each added 12 points for Canyon (9-8).

David Rowlands scored 12 points. Dawson Legum scored 10 points, Kenneth Koffi scored nine and Ryan Bill eight to lead Moorpark (10-5).

viewpoint 74, renaissance academy 70 >> Miye Oni scored 24 points off the bench to lead Viewpoint to the victory.

Christian Juzang scored 22 points for Viewpoint (12-2), which has only lost two games this year by a combined three points.

The Patriots were coming off winning their division in the recently completed MaxPreps Holiday Classic in Palm Springs.

Viewpoint hosts Santa Clara on Tuesday and should be bolstered by the eligibility of Birmingham transfers Mike Jones and Kody Knox after serving their sit-out period.

heritage christian 51, einstein academy 38 >> Heritage Christian improved to 8-5 under first-year coach Paul Tait with the nonleague victory.

Alemany transfer Keithan Jureidini scored 18 points and Jacob Lahorra added 14 points to lead the Warriors.

Einstein Academy was led by Anthony Dickson’s 12 points and Adam Kesten’s 10 points.
