Zach Lavine, Aaron Gordon, Noah Vonleh were easily the 3 biggest winners of the combine.

So now I ask how high can Lavine rise?  I assume the top 7 is almost set in stone.  In no order I have, Wiggins, Embiid, Parker, Exum, Smart, Randle, Vonleh.  I have to imagine Lavine and Gordon will fall in right behind them.

Say the Lakers fall to 7 or 8, do you think they take a chance on Lavine at 7? Or is that too high? 6?  At what point do you guys think it’s absolutely too high to take.

Elite athlete, good shooter.  Really the only knock on him has to be his slender frame, but it looks like he will be able to put on a little bit of weight.

I still think I have Smart ahead of him right now, but the combine is doing all sorts of crazy things to my head right now, there were some real stand out numbers.

I watched a good amount of UCLA games this year and I don’t understand why people think he’s going to be a point guard. I also felt the same way about Westbrook though. That being said I think Lavine will jump both Gary Harris and Aaron Gordon.

    A 6’3” combo or a 6’6” combo.

not really sure what the diff is in their games, except that one is longer than the other.

both are freakish athletes.  I think Lavine has a better shot though he dind’t impress much in shooting drills.  I’d take Lavine no doubt, but I think Smart will be a solid player.  I just think his size limits him.  Smart was getting blocked all day in college, what makes us think he’ll be any better in the pros.

The only reason I put smart in my top 7 is because everyone seems to think he belongs there.  I think Smart and Randle will be bigger busts from this draft out of the top 7.

clearly you have no idea how Marcus Smart plays.. he’s not the "athletic" type.. he’s more physical

what kind of reasoning is "The only reason I put smart in my top 7 is because everyone seems to think he belongs there?"

I think the top 4 guys are pretty much set, just depends on the order they go, Wiggins, Parker, Embiid and Exum. Embiid and Exum are the two I see perhaps fluctuating due to medical red flags for Embiid and Exum not impressing enough in private workouts. After that its pretty up for grabs. Theres guys like Randle, Vonleh and Smart who all should probably go in the top ten, but you have potential risers like Lavine and Young after their favourable combine showings. Theres also guys like Gary Harris and McBuckets that could rise, as it only takes one team to fall for a guy. I think Lavine really could go as high as L.A’s pick, wherever that falls after the lottery, whether or not he proves to be worth that pick, is yet to be seen.

i cant see Lavine jumping into the top 10.

he struggles to finish thru contact and is inconsistent with his jumper.

his has great tools, but he’s so raw that a GM will be hesitant to select him that high.

his combine showing increased his chances at getting selected in the lottery, because theres plenty of mocks who have him in the bottom of the 1st round.

I can offically start seeing Zach LaVine becoming Dion Waiters 2.0 being a really high draft pick after not starting in college.

Waiters was actually productive off the bench though.

Top 12. Purely on upside, not a chance he falls out of there. A solid combine showing in conjunction with good workouts should have him as a lock in the middle of the lottery.

Is Jabari a 3 or a 4?  I could see Exum in contention for the 3rd spot in the draft.  Then Jabari 4 maybe.  Marcus Smart at 5, then Randle, Vonleh, and Gordon with Zach Lavine also in that 5-8 range.

I think it will come down to fit for those power forwards.  I like Aaron Gordon’s game next to the 3 big scorers in Sacto.  He can get up and down, jump, and do the dirty work.

I actually like Vonleh on the Pistons if they begin to move away from Greg Monroe.  Drummond and Vonleh could work really well together.

Julius Randle goes to a team that needs an alpha dog scorer inside.  If the Bucks don’t get a top 3 pick he could be their guy at 4.  Or, what if the Sixers fall to five in the draft?  They would take a long, hard look at Randle if he is there.

What about Zach LaVine next to Rondo in Boston?  They have another first round pick so they can make a bit of a gamble.

After those three power forwards, the next guys on my list are LaVine and Kyle Anderson.  … I like James Young, but yeah he is kind of tweenerish.  I might rather gamble on a freakishly big point guard in Slo Mo than a wing guy like Young.  But I would take James Young over Doug McDermott.

This draft could really turn into a GREAT point guard draft if Exum, Smart, LaVine, Kyle Anderson, Ennis, and Napier all end up playing that position.  Some of those are combo guys but if I were a team I would try each of those guys at point guard.  The point guard spot is so important now (and SO deep) that they should experiment with all these guys running the show.

In this draft 4-10 might depend on who drafts where.  Maybe even 1-3 for that matter.

I agree the first 7 appear set but after that you gotta take into account team needs as much as the prospect.  Aaron Gordon and Dario Saric are the next two best prospects in my eyes.  But they dont really fit with Detroit or Cleveland who already are invested in tweener forwards.  Kyle Anderson and McDermot both fit there tho.

I think Lavine moved ahead of Harris but GMs still like Harris alot.  Also Young and Staukas both tested well.  Besides Staukas body fat % his athletic results proved he can be a legitimate starter and at worse id  taller more athletic Reddick.

This post is pretty much my feelings as well.

I think that Tyler Ennis is a candidate for the Pistons at 8. They could use a true point guard and Ennis has been very good all year and showed at the combine that he is a better athlete than people realized.

I’m a Sixers fan and am starting to think that they might have their choice of Gordon or Saric at 10, and that is pretty nice. There are a lot of prospects in the 8-15 range that are pretty close to each other, and team needs and preferences are going to dictate who goes where.
