What is the value of Zach LaVine? I mean what are t-wolves able to get if they trade him?

why trade him? he’s proving the hype was real.

with rubio out, he receives the biggest boost on t wolves in fantasy value.

They would probaby get a late first rounder or a good veteran on an expiring contract if they were to trade him.

His potential is showing, but he isn’t a point guard, he’s in the Jamal Crawford, Monta Ellis mold, operates best with the ball, but he could end up being a better shooter than both, if he stops doing the fadeaway on all of his shots, needs to square his shoulders. He’s a scoring combo, shooting guard, point in the pinch.

But Andrew Wiggins’ development is slowing down Zach’s, Andrew can’t operate at small forward right now because he isn’t strong enough, and he doesn’t have the size advantage he has at the two. This is my opinion now, but truthfully if Wiggins and Zach both reach their potential, they could be a great 1/3, 1/2 combo, or 1/3 combo, it won’t matter where they play because of their talent.

I’m just trying to figure out which young duo they are closer to, Vince and Tracy or Westbrook and Durant (no i’m not saying they are as good or will be as good). I feel they need to be able to able to play Zach, Wiggins and Muhammad all at the same time. So they can switch everything like the Warriors, and kill people offensively.

Weird time to ask this question since he’s still such an immature player both mentally and physically.  You wouldn’t exactly be giving enough to time to figure out what they have with him, and this certainly wouldn’t be a sell high moment.

Maybe you’re thinking down the road if the Wolves continue to groom Wiggins at the 2, since that is the only position I see Lavine playing as well.  He’s certainly not a 1 that’s for sure.  His feel for running an offense and overall IQ are absolutely horrible and as history has shown, players with as low IQ as players like him only get marginally better in that dep’t.

Long term he looks like a microwave scorer off the bench who you leave in if he’s got it going but don’t hesitate to bench and keep him there if he doesn’t.

But to answer the question I’m guessing a mid first is as high as you can get for him alone, but likely a later first.  I’m assuming GMs are smart enough to see the BS and warts in his game.  Maybe they could attach him in a trade to get rid a deal like Pekovic’s.  If they could do that and flip that combo for a starting 3 and D wing or a starting PF who can give KAT room to operate that’d be ideal.

He’s thriving at his best position, point guard.

Westbrook didn’t play point guard until the NBA.

Why would the Wolves trade LaVine?! I’m a huge Wolves fan and I love what LaVine brings to the table and what he is going to bring in the future, especially at the point. He has one of the highest ceilings in the league and people underrate his basketball I.Q. I’m not saying he is Steve Nash smart, but he has very good vision and court awareness especially for a natural scorer. Yes, he can force somethings, but he’s only 20 and has a ton to learn. He has star potential and if he and Wiggins reach their potential, that’s a top 3 backcourt in the league in a few years. I would rather have LaVine on the team than Rubio moving forward. Once he gains that experience, knowledge, and confidence, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Actually he has some of the worst court awareness and a severe case of tunnel vision. This is evident on both sides of the ball. On defense he gets absolutely hammered by screens. Rather have Lavine than Rubio? Lol you say you are a "huge Wolves fan" but I suspect whether you even watch the games and not just highlights. Rubio has his flaws but the team is completely lost on both offense and defense without him.

He can shoot, he can can dunk, he can pass… is it not enough? He only needs minutes to improve..

Disagree on the "he can pass" notion. He’s actually an inconsistent passer at best. He’s not a point guard and produces the most when he’s playing off the ball. The stats back it up. He’s done his best work lately when Andre Miller is in the game.

Going forward, the Wolves need him at the two spot. He can’t guard point guards and he isn’t good at running a team. The offense just doesn’t function at an operable level with him as the primary ball handler. That doesn’t mean he can’t make plays. Too many people think of 2-guards as this barren wasteland of a postion where guys with playmaking skills are wasted spotting up. That isn’t the case and Zach can be a very good secondary ball handler/playmaker. He just isnt a Pg.

Looking a little ahead but I’d love to see the Wolves get Kriss Dunn in the draft. Dunn-Lavine-Wiggins-Bjelica-Towns is an exciting starting five and if you fill in guys like Rubio-Bazz-Dieng that’s a good looking group.

Nobody needs a 180 lb shooting guard with an 8’4" standing reach.

Not being able to defend a position is worse than a point guard who can’t run a team. At least a point guard who can shoot the ball and stretch the floor can play off ball.

LaVine can learn how to limit his mistakes at pg, and score more consistently, but his body type is very frail and he shouldn’t change it even if he could.

Think of him as a bench Westbrook who is still learning how to have more consistently good games.

You don’t trade a bench Westbrook in the making just for the fun of it.

I’m not saying LaVine is better than Rubio now, I’m saying if the Wolves could only keep one, I’d keep LaVine over him. I don’t believe Rubio is a starting PG in the NBA unless he learns to shoot better than 35% from the field. And in regards to LaVine’s passing, I’m not saying he’s some tremendous playmaker who makes some unbelievable dimes, but he is a solid passer for a raw scorer. I don’t understand why he gets so much hate. All he needs is a little bit of development and knowledge and he is going to be a very good player. Whether this is how you guys feel or not, is seems like you are already writing him off as a bust in the league. But he is producing solid numbers and he’s pretty efficient. No one really thought Curry or Westbrook were primary ball handing point guards when they were entering the league, and now they’re probably the best two PG’s in the league. Maybe Zach will end up being a 2, but I think he has the tools and skills to be a good point guard in the league if he develops the skills needed to do so. Maybe I’m wrong, but those are my thoughts.

Zach has played some great ball in recent games and considering he was a late lottery pick last year for the T-Wolves. They would probably be looking for more in return. One or two teams are looking for PGs so they could come in for Zach but I feel it would take a very good offer to make the T-Wolves part with him. Likewise Atlanta with Schroeder.

Wolves could expect  a lottery pick in return.   He isn’t even close to a polished yet neither has any other player that came into the league at his age.

Give him time and chance to delvelope basketball skills to go along with the athleticism and the Wolves could have quite a player.   He works hard on his game and wants to get better.  He’s not ever going to be a point guard but he doesn’t need to be a good addition to the Wolves.

Wolves are heading in the right direction and Lavine has a chance to be an important part of their future if he continues working hard and keeps his head on straight.
