Your pick for the most over/under rated player

I was just curious as to who you considered to be the most over/underated player form the nba draft and the nba.

My pick from Collage

Most Overrated = Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist (Mocked to go 4th)

Most Underrated = Tyshawn Taylor (Mocked to go 60th)

From the NBA

Most Overrated = Carmelo Anthony

Most Underrated = Monte Ellis

Lets hear your picks

Most underrated in the NBA:

Most underrated in the NBA: Lebron James

I know you all are probally thinking I am crazy, but hear me out. There was a poll recently where americans picked Lebron James as the 3rd most over paid person in the U.S. He does not get any respect from tons of fans and alot people act like he is a joke. Lebron is the best player in the league and perhaps the best combination of athletic ability and skill in NBA history, yet he still gets treated like &$#%#&@! and a joke.

@ Wizkid why would i want

@ Wizkid

why would i want to flip my picks arround === in which case Tayshawn Taylor is the most overrated player (he bearly made it on the mock board while being a producing pretty well for a good team like kansas in a year that lacks PGs)

And as far as Kidd-Gilcrist...i dont know, i dont see his as that great of a player cant really do anything too a suprior level other then maybe defense (but then again can do a bit of everything)...doesnt seem that strong/not that tall ether but i guess he has wingspan...jump shot form doesnt look good and doesnt seem like a good scorer to me but i know he is workaholic which is why i guess he is projected to go 4th

From College

Overrated: Austin Rivers, he just is too much of a one-dimensional scorer. I doubt he will score with any efficiency in the NBA, and scoring is all he is good for.

Underrated: Jae Crowder, he just flat out knows how to play. He rebounds, plays defense, runs the floor, movers without the ball, and can shoot from 3. Sure, he doesn't have any truly elite skills, and he is not super explosive, but I can't see how he is projected to go 47th overall when Kawhi Leonard went top ten. I am not saying he is as good as Leonard (He is less athletic and is a Senior), but he isn't that much worse.

Underrated: Robbie Hummel

Underrated: Robbie Hummel (mid 2nd). The knee has a lot of people worried, but the dude can ball. Some NBA team is gonna be lucky to have him in their rotation.

Overrated: Drummond. After the way he played in the tourney, there's no way anyone should be looking at him this year. Also, Meyers Leonard. Illinois was not that good a team; they should be a lot better than what they had and Leonard conributed a bit to that.

NBA Underrated: Mareese Speights, Nick Collison, Wes Matthews

NBA Overrated: Monta Ellis, Al Jefferson, 'Melo, Kevin Martin. All high volume shooters that don't play a lick of D.

Drummond altered every shot that came in the paint and when he didn't have to worry about foul trouble guarded Royce White pretty well. He's a much better defender then people give him credit for. If he dunked the ball (drives me crazy that doesn't try to dunk anything inside of 7 feet) instead of trying to lay it in so much everyone here would be high on him If you fix just that, he's already a much better player.

Ok...

Let's be honest here a ton of "Stars" don't play D... So to say Melo doesn't isn't cool... Plus EVERYONE thinks he's overrated now so how exactly is he overrated??? Same with Austin Rivers... This just doesn't make sense... SMH...

College:

Drummond/Lamb: It's no way that team shouldn't have done more ESPECIALLY with players who won the NC last year... It just doesn't happen when you have a "Dominant Big Man"... This site got them Top 3 picks... Laughable...

NBA:

D. Wade and Kevin Love (Since everyone know that Amare is overrated) hear me out...

Let's be honest the main reason we LOVE Kevin so much is because he does his job... I'm not into giving folks credit for doing their job... I know he's probably one of the top PF's now he's just not a "Superstar"... Rebounding is something EVERY star PF should do... The problem is Amare, Dirk, LA, Bosh, and Gasol don't do it enough... So we WOW at Griffin and Love for doing something that PF's should be doing anyway... Go look at ALL the past all-star PF's from before... It was a given that they grabbed boards not until the Era of Amare that it was acceptable for your PF to record less than 10 boards a game... Which is non sense... If he's as great as people think, why can't he even have a .500 record??? Same with Blake???

Now D. Wade,

I know how he can score in bunches and things of that nature BUT where was he during that Chicago series?? Boston??? I mean we got on Kobe for winning a championship with Shaq... What about D. Wade??? If you think Shaq wasn't the focused of the Mavericks defense ask Mark Cuban... Since Shaq and without LeBron what EXACTLY has D. Wade done in his career??? I think he gets a pass to often and since LeBron is the better of the 2 he shoulders majority of the blame... The Miami Heat become inefficient because of D. Wade this year... He's playing terrible in some games... He also don't a have sense of timing which could be good and bad... Like jumping in the air and fouling like a maniac late and hitting a late game shot... Both can/have been deciding factors in games... Skip Bayless love for D. Wade is atrocious... He doesn't hold him accountable for anything, LeBron and Bosh are the scapegoats...

Overrated: Meyers Leonard -

Overrated: Meyers Leonard - Softer than 2 ply toilet paper. Would be surprised if he's any better than BJ Mullins.

Underrated: Doron Lamb - Solid perimeter defender who can drain 3's. Will be a useful role player wherever he gets drafted. Will then undoubtedly get a contract too big, which will make him overrated. Then, he'll go back to being a useful role player and analysts will say "he's always been able to do this, I don't know why anyone forgot it."

Why do people continue to

Why do people continue to overrate Melo? He plays the same amount of D as Kevin durant. You blame him for the Knicks losing but amare gets a free pass. He wins at every level, took a lottery team to the playoffs every year. Dominated the Olympics and came back the next year and almost made the finals. He has one down year in a lock out season and now he is overrated. You people need to stop getting so personal and just look at basketball instead of who is more likable

A Different Viewpoint

Jared Sullinger is overated as a college player but underated as far as how good he will be in the pros I think.

Darius Miller is underated as both.

Lorenzo Brown from NC State....not sure if underated is the word for him but more like under the radar. On mocks, he is definitely underated.

Austin Rivers is definitely not overated as a college player, may even be underated. As a prospect, he is overated though.

To me, MKG has been better than advertised and is a great prospect, but I have not seen reasoning as to why Beal is so highly rated.

Tuck 243, please say you are

Tuck 243, please say you are kidding

said Kevin Love was overrated because people like that he rebounds and thats something every good PF should do. The dude averages 14 rebounds per game. Thats doing more then your job. 26 ppg shouldnt be your job. Thats getting some hard core overtime. If every other PF should do that, and doesnt, when he does, isnt it just fair to say hes better at it.

If Amare, Dirk, LA dont rebound enough, shouldnt they be considered overrated? They arent, but I hope you get my point in calling out your logic as a flawed one. If your logic is that 26 ppg and 14 rpg is simply doing your job, why dont the better PFs do it? If that isnt their job and it is for Love, his job expectations are way higher which would lead me to think he isnt overrated. Put Martell Webster, Wes Johnson, Luke Ridnour and Darko Milicic around Amare Stoudemire, LA, Dirk, Bosh or Blake- how good is that team?

WizKid- people say Melo is overrated because he isnt in the top 30 in any category except scoring usually. While he is a really good player, he isnt an elite player. Hes an elite scorer, but he has never been a good creator for others (though hes doing it more this year), never been a good defender, and is somewhat of a black hole on O. Amare has barely gotten a free pass for the Knicks sucking this year, but Melo certainly should shoulder alot of the blame, hes their best player. Elite players make their teammates better, I havent seen that from Melo.

hope that helps

Although Harrison Barnes has

Although Harrison Barnes has been grossly overated as a collegiate, he is going to be underated in terms of how good he will be on the next level. He will be a better pro.

As far as NBA....

I always thought guys like Jason Richardson and Corey Magette were underated because they only had one or two dimensions to their game. On contenders, those players could be invaluable. They were never the superstars they may have been predicted to be but they have had SOLID careers. No busts by any means and I think they get shipped around a lot because their value may not truly be appreciated.

Always thought Drew Gooden was underated too.

I think because Bogut has been underated in the past it has caused him to be overated a bit.

Yah

Drew Gooden isn't paid underrated though.

For college, I agree about Sullinger. His stock is slipping, I would jump all over him at picks between 12-17. He will be a double digit scorer and 7-8 rebound guy in the NBA for a long time imo.

I have to agree with

I have to agree with WizKid,people constantly knock Carmelo and say he's overrated......The only knocks i have on Melo is he can be a ball stopper in certain offensive sets & his defense....But he can play with anyone...I'm not saying Kobe,Melo and Durant are the 3 best players in the nba,but those 3 guys are the best all around textbook offensive players in the nba, they can do everything that coaches try to teach kids on how to play offense....

Players

College:

Overrated:

Andre Drummond (although this is partly due to terrible selfish PG play on Uconn and his potential is through the roof)

MKG - I don't entirely get the hype on this guy - he is a great team player and may have the most well rounded game coming into the pros, but nothing stands out as star. He is however going to be a solid piece and would be great on a contender.

Underrated:

Terrence Ross - unbelievable size for a SG who can float to the 3 in the NBA if he has to - very good perimeter shooter and he already possesses what many of the players coming out do not have, a 1-2 dribble pull up jumper from anywhere on the floor.

NBA:

Overrated - Joe Johnson - very good player, but a maxed contract for a guy who isn't even averaging 18 PPG in his career, give me a break

Underrated - Kevin Martin - guy has been shopped around almost his whole career...and guess what, career totals better than Joe Johnson and much cheeper

Not the most underrated but I think John Wall's last two months (22 games) have went well under the radar.
