Young Player For Young Player
im not high on jason thompson. I watch kings quite often and he just doesnt have anything that makes me think he will be all that good.
That was 96, the Lakers were a playoff team and Kobe stated he would only play for LA in the past.
The Kings are a rebuilding team still. Why move Thompson who's a solid big man ( something that's rare in the NBA) for Paul George, a unproven project.
Like I said before, the NBA trades are waves. The Kobe deal worked for LA but who says the George one works for Sacramento.
Also, the Kings have Casspi who's a very good young player.
I like what don was trying to do there with the trade. The Kings organization loves versatility in players and Paul George would perfectly fit that mold. However, I highly doubt that the Kings would trade away Jason Thompson after Westphal kept on saying that he was going to have a break out season next year.

I like this trade because it gives the Thunder a shot blocker and a prescense in the paint while it gives the Kings two good shooters.
Also, even though the kings have Omri Casspi at the 3, that does not mean that Paul George can't come around. One of the enticing things about George is that he can play the 2 or 3.
Since Petrie has said that Evans will play the 1 next year, George and Evans would be a nightmare matchup offensively and defensively. Beno would be a good guard off the bench who could change the tempo and hit his midranger.
To play next to Evans, the Kings need a pass first (or solid playmaking) 2 man next to him.
Not Brandon Rush or Paul George.
The Kings would give up a starter for a role player or a unproven guy

Mr. Knick, every score first point guard would love a pass first/solid playmaking shooting guard, but there are simply not that many available that the Kings would be able to get.
spot on, thompson doesnt do anything THAT well... and hes not exactly an elite athlete. I think people are confusing his success given that he was a reach at 12th outta Rider with how good he actually is.
Thompson has shown he is a bit soft but he has shown a good bit of production and it is easy to say that he will get better. While I believe strongly that Paul George will be a good player in the league I really can't prove it besides his play in a weak conference. Also Mento has Omri who is good and Donte Greene who they like (probably a little to much).

I think the Pacers should trade Paul George to Sacramento, for Jason Thompson...Indiana has more than enough wing players, they need a good young power forward...Sacramento has enough bigs and needs a cornerston small forward, and Paul George can be that guy, so it makes sense for both teams
