You should never tank in the NBA
GS tanked and they got to keep their pick because of it. NO tanked and got the top pick. It worked pretty well for those two.
Why is everyone saying the Bobcats tanked. They wanted to rebuild like any other team that struggleged for years and wanted a fresh start. And to be fankly they just wasnt that good or as talented as first thought. Tyrus Thomas was expected to play alot better, Maggette was thought to be a 20 point scorer again, Kemba and Augustin too young talented guards who played inconsistent the whole year.
And how did the Nets tank when they tried their hardest to aquire Dwight Howard. And then trade a sure fire top ten pick for Gerald Wallace to help improve the team. Also their 2nd best player was injured the whole year. If what the Nets did is called tanking then every team who tried to improve their team tanked the season. When you tank your suppose to lose for a chance to get a better pick, not tradde that pick away for a player who can help team.
I do not think they tanked in the least. They were a bad team and went 6-4 over their last 10 games. To me, tanking would be going, say, 0-10 like Charlotte did (granted, they were awful, but I see little reason they should not have put up more of a fight than they did). The Wizards went 8-2, so they actually did not tank either. The Warriors did (1-9), that is for sure, they get the 7th pick and not a top 3 at least. The Blazers did, but they pick 11. The Nets were 3-7 in their last 10, but again did nothing to help themselves.
Time and time again, tanking does not reward teams. Time and time again, people b!tch about it and say the lottery is rigged. I love that in a majority of years, teams that sucked absolute donkey noodles are not given the first pick in the draft. Every year people talk about tanking for lottery combos and most of the time, they are not rewarded for doing so. If the lottery is rigged, it seems to not be on the side of teams that suck for the purpose of choosing whomever they want in the draft. No real issue with that.
The Bobcats didn't tank, they just suck. Period. I do believe Jordan is looking at the future and is trying to build a contender. He knows that other than free agency and trade, the only chance you have at landing a star player is through the draft. Players don't want to come to Charlotte or play in Charlotte. It's like they lose their game when they get here. Look at how Boris Diaw and Stephen Jackson are playing now with the Spurs compared to how they were with the Bobcats. I think Diaw even lost a couple of pounds since being with the Spurs lol. I understand players want to play for a winning team but Kevin Love bust his a$$ everynight. The year he made the all star team they had the worst record so you can still put forth the effort. Tyson Chandler wasn't about to play for Charlotte when he got traded for Okafor, hell supposedly the reason Kobe got traded from Charlotte to LA in '96 is because he didn't want to play for Charlotte. Hopefully we can draft somebody for the long haul and give the city something to look forward to. Charlotte is a nice city and has great fans that are supportive. The Hornets at one point were one of the most popular teams in the '90's before we started beefing with the owner. At least we got Cam Newton bringing some attention to the city.

I'm glad Michael Jordan & The Charlotte Bobcats didn't get the #1 Pick, And I'm glad The Brooklyn Nets didn't get 2 keep they pick either, teams should learn tanking does not work ever.
